very well said in both posts mhr...

and to you erowid i pose this question,,,,
in a communal living type arrangement,,,, is labor divided differently according to skill level ? say.. joe schmo can frame a house better than anyone else in the family community,,,, joe schmo works the same amount as anyone else hour wise or just doing his share when joe has something to frame and the rest of the time just skroos off,,,,, because he DOES his part and afterall his work is more skilled than say,, the fence post diggin, lawn mowing guy...?? and then when others feel this is just not quite ummmmmmmmmmmmmm kosher,,, but no one can do anything about it since there are no rulz and no order... and well joe schmo just doesnt quite GET IT that he aint pullin his weight since our community cant afford to frame a house a week every week because he believes what he does do when he does it is plenty....

ah hell maybe this aint the right thread fer this question but.... too late ;)

like I said mate an enlightened community, if one is in need another would help , and if one is in want they can figure it out, if the community is in need everyone helps this need not be a rule just a simple realisation if ya bothered to put it to paper you would just pave the way for hours upon hours of wasted bickering, oh is but this is for the community because, and oh that is more of a need for me, and most people consider that a need. such a place is not where I might find peace of mind not with the wasted energy of dispute which is what rules create for if they did not create dispute. Im done on this topic though make your points counterpoints and critical analysis as you will and box yourself up with articles claden in subsections of further justifacation so that the way is so clear terry schiavo could navagate it.

To those saying you will have to work like a dog in a community situation, It really does depend on what kind of community you join. People have to remember ,that once you have a house on it's own piece of land, you don't have to pay rent anymore. It's just trickier to get the money anywhere it is easy to afford land, so you have to be creative.

If you are living on a commune and working over 40 hours a week doing unenjoyable work, find a new community.

    :)

I Think That Even Moreso The Important Thing To Remember Is To Find People You Alreadyare Pretty Sure About, Chad And I Have Been At This Thing For Months, It Hasnt Been Over Night, Worry Free, We Still Dont Have All The Kinks Worked Out, Thats Where People Come In To Play, A Community Is Basically A Collection Of People, The Aura Of Such Can Never Be Predetemined? You Never What What You Have Until You Have It!

wasnt meant to bash in any sort of way,,, was actually quite curious as to how one would handle said situation,,,, even though we are not a commune ,,,, we do however have issues crop up from time to time and that was one,,,, was only asking to get an idea of how a community with no rulez or regz would deal with it,,, something personally i find as a totally viable question

Usually a prioritized to do list with amounts of time expected to take next to it works well. Some people take forever to do simple tasks - others are considerably faster than most - so on consensus the amount of time it would take the average persons concentrated effort is "assigned" to the job in question - with the knowlwdge that shit happens and it may take much longer - but generally an agreement before hand on how long it "should" take mixed in with what it did take.

Often a weekly time stipend is "required" Sometimes a cash amount is acceptable instead - but again consensus decides how each situation is handled.
With Any community, whether individually or jointly owned, any time 2 people or more try to work together - communication is still the key.

For those who are challeged by poor communication skills - well over a period of time all becomes obvious and as long as we all have the best interest of the group and the individual balanced then we should be able to find solutions - - is not true ?

Brightest Blessings to you all along your Ways

Well, I see erowid is taking the easy way out and ignoring this discussion now. Pretty much concludes my assessment of him and what he would do in a communal situation when confronted with decisions. I'm sure that will go over real well to create harmony within a community.

I sure do hope a community can work together in peace and create a utopian environment without rules and responsibilities. I'd like nothing more then to see this situation happening. Definately hope to find this quality within the communities I plan to visit during my year off. However, I don't plan to blindly accept it as the norm which is what my whole point is about. Too many young people have accepted the wrong idea as to what a commune is and are willing to give up their education and future careers to seek out a life of pure utopian leisure that just doesn't exist. They have visions of sitting around all day smoking pot and staring at the sky doing nothing. Well, good luck finding that.

tis something that we do here oldwolf,,, and oddly enough it was done because of a suggestion by the said person i was sorta outlining when i posed the question .... we handle it as we handle everything lol and go on learning from it in the end and work toward making it easier on the next go around,,,

was asked mainly becuase of erowids comments and all on lack of rulz etc,,, but ahhhhh it seems that yes he/she/it has backed out of the dialogue on said subject,,,,,

although have to say it makes me think twice on visiting places where they wish for no rules etc (or strive for that) more than before this convo.... not that i intend upon leaving where i am or anything ,,,, just that these things pique my interest,,,,;)

erowid is the exact type of person you will find within a community that lacks rules and organization which is why I continue to point out how it simply won't work over any extended length of time. These types of people will stomp their feet and cover their ears at the first sign of adversity. How you supposed to get anything done with people like that? He'd rather belittle people to try and put himself above them in order to get his way.

    erowid the perfect example
    avoid conflict, just trample
I am the man of wisdom he cries
believes his words should receive top prize
now, if he could only spell skepticize
    probably thought noone would notice
    since his almighty words hypnotize
too bad though, this is reality
not his kingdom he calls community
belittle people and you will have unity?
sorry pal, but I won't swallow
    words that have no substance
I believe they call it hollow
so go back to your ruleless world erowid
    where only you wallow
    in self love and honor
because noone here is going to follow

dude look how much time you guys are wasting just to bitch over me like 5 quotes just to find a point to reinforce yourselves with. I know how to pick my battles I made my point and you refused to acknowledge it for what it is, I mean for god sakes metaphorically speaking when you raise a town you don't have to salt the earth. I have humility which is why both of you are quite intolerable for it would seem to be something you lack with a complete page of attacks, for fuck sake mate make a point or let it DIE! I apologize for anyone who bothered to read this besides parties involved already. I challenge you my freind what situations would you have me look at? no more bitching, give me something to go off, I could say your prejudice or dilligafs a bitter old man but it wont be anymore acurate than you judging me off two paragraphs and lazt nights. I went with the bloody poem thing for it was the most sophisticated way I could hone exactly what I was angry about, which was the fact I just wanted to introduce the possibility of eutopian anarchy, but still I challenge you what do u have what situation if you are going to continue this do it right not with slander with reasonable arguement. Keep in mind the arguements already presented, which is much why I ducked out cause I figured u had nothin new, but by all means youve got something say it and doso without making judgements on my character based on assumptions form some 2-3 other posts or prejudices based on viewpoints you know I embrace such as the endorcing use of psychadelics for the expansion of the consiouis experience to acheive greater realization. Im not lettin u take the easy way out either, for sensationalizing is the easiest way to make a point, rationalizing is much more challenging.

Point being Im not letting the apparent flaws in my character contribute to the watering down of this potencially productive medium of communication so fire away, What specific points do you think an enlightened anarchy will fail? And how is there any other way to acheive true freedom?(thats more what Im about than specifically making a body that socially supersustains itself with a group ego)

Ohhhhhhh... I don't knoooooooow... maybe the fact that this has been attempted since the creation of man and has yet to work?

Take a look at history man, it's all written down for anyone to read.

Society has evolved to what it is today after overcoming all the issues of seeking true freedom. True freedom is the dream of fools because it will never happen as long as evil exists and evil isn't going away anytime soon. It's because of greed and lust for power, which are both evil, that a government had to be established. Somebody had to maintain the peace between the good people and evil people who wanted to control everyone and everything.

I find it amazing that somebody who claims to be so enlightened knows very little about their own history.

Umm, look guys, this thread was started by a dude named dark star because he wanted advice...it wasn't intended to be a cyberspace battlefield. In other words maybe ya'll should start a new thread, something like debate with errowid or something. ;)

history as we know it is written by those who bother to write and work to make their point often for the sake of making it, usually duches, anyways its called correlation not causation. What reason would you have for hearing about a people who have successfully implemented a system, or lack there of, utopian anarchy?

When you break it down repressentation of even an intellegent populous still isn't really effective for we are still of evolved stone age mind dealing with information and indutrial age dangers, its why we care more about some handicapped woman gettin a tube pulled out of her, or a few isolated shootings/rapes than say the potencial melting of polar icecaps or other seemingly possible dramatic climate change or possible economic collapse due to widespread fuel shortage and our lack of adaptibility to such a situation threats which would certainly cause alot more widespread death via starvation than a couple of pervs snaggin up little girls. The trick is controlling our wants through enlightenment acceptance of the present and suppression of these outdated temptations to accept the moment and acknowledge what needs to be done and that which will get things no where. Any other specific questions, keeping in mind its already bluntly established you have no faith in the structure of an enlightened mind?

Whatever you are smoking, it's time to stop and breathe some reality air.

I think the difference between you and I is that I live in reality and you can't find the exit door within your fantasy.

Sure it's nice to dream that everybody becomes a saint and discovers what truely matters in life, but that isn't going to happen except in your fantasy world.

BTW, I'll be watching the news for your great world altering accomplishments if you ever actually get off your rear and practice the crap you preach. Doubt that will ever happen. You'll just go back to driving your fuel using car and living in your fuel using house and typing on your fuel using computer. Preach on!

their would be no news of such a thing, what purpose would it serve, fundamentally it would be significant to create such a balance yet the point I made before it simply is not lucrative for peoples attention span is short, and you don't have time to apply to peoples fundamental or philosophical beleifs through news, I mean back in the days of Lincoln the state of the union took about 3 hours, and what are they averaging now? under 45 minutes!bare in mind just because things are apart from your reality doesn't mean they aren't real, how many devout buddists, taoists, hindus have you known?, america is not exactly the best place to come to such realization though. Enlightened people don't exactly line the streets in this country, once again lets stay of the slander slingen I realize you have trouble barring yourself from overemphasis in the confidence you yeild behind your point, yet please find a more constructive way to do so for I would rather participate in a constructive debate than a metaphorical slugfest. Dont get me wrong about the enlightenment all being eastern or nothing their are those of monotheistic faith amung them yet the selfrighteousness, adaptive arrogence, and two sided ethics of this country isn't exactly a breeding ground for such profound minds.

Dont think I plan to change anyone I beleive you basterds of babylon are all doomed to die, you have forgoten the words of your fathers and preoccupy yourself with petty affairs, society as a whole would seem to have lost its vision and its hope, rather a crisis of spirituality, you have convinced youself you have such a perfect way of life that you forfeit the right to even begining to rationalize otherwise, or think in constructively skeptical ways of the system which governs you. You bar yourself with your financial ambition, you confirm yourself with social compatibility, before you know it your way turns to wages, and spirituality and beleifs are no more than "intresting" things for you to think about, and study as an animal in a cage.
Small is the number of them that see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts . -Einstein
