hendrix... so much more groovy! and mitch mitchell is great. and if i may... youre invisible now, youve got no secrets to conceal... how does it feel?
It's too hard to decide. Page was extremely talented as far as writing, but Hendrix was extremely talented as far as experimenting. They both get my equal vote.
Dude, depends what kind of mood im in. I would have to say i like them equally also. its sort of asking sunset over sunrise, you know its like they both have a powerfull effect on you and both have changed the world of music.
damn! so difficult. Jimmy Page was a great guitar player, and I don't think Zeppelin would have been successful without him. But Jimi was just so innovative, talented, and mindbending. He may not have been the first good guitarist, but he perfected it.
okay, as far as just pure talent my vote goes to Hendrix. Influence... again Hendrix. Innovation... again Hendrix. Page was very sloppy, influenced just the rock scene with his lead playing, and didn't really change much with his playing, he just played a lot of bends to pull-offs and recycled licks if that makes any sense. Hendrix's influence spread to jazz, reggae, and many other genres. Hendrix definitely gets my vote, as well as my personal preference in songwriting.
I'm going to have to agree with this statement. I personally enjoy Page's music a lot more than I have Hendrix's. I love Band of Gypsies, but all of Hendrix's previous work, I don't hold in quite as high regard as Page's work.
Jimi Hendrix just had the emotion, vision and talent to write the most inspiring and emotionally diverse and intricately woven masterpieces, dexterity and proficiency is one thing, Hendrix is something else...
Hands down, Jimmy Page. Led Zeppelin is my absolute favorite band, without a doubt, so I'll have to go with Page. Not that Hendrix wasn't awesome, because he definitely was, but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to Hendrix, whereas I can listen to Zeppelin anytime.
Led Zepp is my favorite to, but i think comparing the guitar performances is important. I think anything is comparable, you just have to break it down
hmmm.. you can't get more blues than Jimi Hendrix, he is Blues and Jazz, psychedelic is really a slant I think, a perspective... I like Jimmy Page a lot, but I personally see less diversity in his style of play... hmmm... maybe I should play my Led Zepp again, not for some time, I may well contradict myself once I have... ha ha
Your right, they did have seperate styles of play. And i think 'psychedelic' is a lofty way of catorgizing his music, but omg Jimi's screeching guitar, who does it better.. honestly?
It's a tough one but I'll go with Page... Maybe the fact that I'm listening to Zep right now influenced my opinion... lol So I might regret this later... The man is just amazing though... I was watching some live performances last night and even though it was 3am, I couldn't go to sleep cause I could still hear him playing in my head... lol just mind blowing... Hendrix is amazing too though.
