They've just announced on the news that Pope John Paul II has died.

I didn't always agree with his policies, especially since I'm not Catholic, but I always admired his hard work toward world peace and improved relations among the world's religions. He was not one to maintain the status quo, at least in some areas.

I hope his replacement will maintain his good work and bring about even more change.

My apologies, the Vatican is denying earlier reports that he had died, they now say he is "clinging to life".

It's as if the Pope wanted to play one last April Fool's joke on us all!

i dont like organized religion, but this pope was actually one of the better ones, as far as policy is concerned. there has been a growing feeling that the next one, or the one that will quickly replacve the next one, will be the anti christ or some type of false prophet that marks the end of these days.

God I could only hope... the pope cant even talk now... he just mumbles and stutters like a grumpy old man... soon the maggots will lay their eggs...

Its just too bad that the death of the pope cannot mean the death of catholicism.

you know i was wondering about that actually....it just feels like this is a dark turning for some reason or another....or then again its probably just knowing so many people will be hurt by this....
question though, do you think the next one would truly be an antichrist or the fear that drives people to feel that will therefore make it "true"

the popes death will not mean a dark turning, i assure you that... i thought the pope was clinging to life for the past 5 years?

I nominate pat Robertson to be the next pope!

    Pope patrick robertson.

    Robertson isn't Catholic.

I mean, if you aren't Catholic, why would you care? It is not like he makes laws or anything.

I was raised Catholic, and my mother is going insane, as the kids who supposedly saw the Blessed Mother at Medjegory said John Paul II would be the last Pope. So she is thinking the world is over. sigh. The thing is.....the Vatican NEVER endorsed the "visions" at Medjegory as authentic. If there is anything worse than a lapsed Catholic, it is a "cafeteria catholic" like my mother. (Who actually got a Papal Annulment so she could get remarried after divorcing my dad...)

A little respect should be required here. First of all a man dyed, this isn't a joke! I'm eastern orthodox, not catholic, but I also have ot say, he was a GREAT MAN, no anti-catholic will change that!

Pope John Paul II was one of the greatest men who has ever lived. He was an amazing figure for world peace and love and respect for everyone. I feel so good when I see leaders of world religions meeting together in peace and harmony like he had done with so many. I'm not catholic, and I respect and admired that man so much for what he has done for the world.

Aye, the same exact thing goes for me, I'm eastern orthdox, I don't agree with alot of what the Catholic church says, but John Paul II was a great man, if every religion was headed by a man like him, there might be alot more peace on this planet.
