I decided to walk up to the library, it being a nice day out, and on the way back, thought to myself "hey, todays a great day to barefoot". Oh what I've been missing all winter! It was funny to see people looking at my feet and being confused or amused...one lady seemed shocked, I had to laugh after I passed her. And I'm proud of myself; for the first time ever, I went into a store barefoot! Actually, a bank. I was debating whether or not to do it, but when I got there, with some people walking in behind me and no NSNSNS sign, I felt I had somehting to prove. Ok, mostly I just didn't want to be bothered to get my shoes out of my backpack and put them on. It felt great though, very freeing.
Congratulations! I've actually been barefooting on and off all winter, depending on the weather, but last week, I was hardcore barefooting. I was home on Spring Break helping my parents move into a new house. When I would go into town, I never took more than a pair of flipflops to wear into stores with the 3NS signs. Other than that, my feet were bare for 9 days straight. And today, I met another barefoot girl (girls are rare...we're taught to love shoes from birth, I think!) and we convinced one of our friends to try barefooting. He took off his shoes and we walked the campus, through a creek, and just had a blast without our shoes. My feet were muddy and kinda sore (still not callused up properly) but feel wonderful! I'm a wonderfully happy girl
i'm in!! don't worry about the NS signs, if they don't want your business, someone will!! the other day i went into a bank, a store, and a restaurant and no one seemed to notice or care.
The nicest thing about the warmer weather is it's now safe to stay barefoot as long as you want. We had sunshine and temps in the 40'sF on wednesday so I went for a hike at the lake. Lots of people hanging out and hiking the trails taking pictures having fun. I got a couple of curiosity questions but most notable was two park rangers who asked where my shoes are, I said you guys know I hate wearing 'em they said Yeah we know just busting on you. They said they saw me the week before and were amazed I was out in so much snow. We then talked about other doings at the park and then told me not to go swiming. I said I had waded into the water and it was uncomfortably cold when knee deep. There's still ice covering nearly all of it. What could have been a confrontation ended up being a very friendly exchange. Lets all enjoy the improving weather barefooted !! Archie
That's great Rugged Soles. That's the best way to handle it, polite but secure in your position. You know the old saying, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Now maybe those guys will even give it a shot, seeing you're a nice guy who likes barefooting; not some fringe freak or something.
Its the first pretty warm day in Toronto after one hell of a winter. Are any of you winter barefooters from around here, cause you gotta be nuts to go barefoot in -20 degree weather? Anyway, I GOT TO BAREFOOT it allday today, and it feels better than ever. Hopefully I can put away my boots and enjoy the rest of the summer with naked feet!!
How is it still so cold in Toronto when over here in Detroit, not really that far away, it's been in the 50's all week, with a few days in the 60s?
The weather is crazy. I'm about 40 min away from the Detroit/Windsor boarder and when it was freezing here my girlfriend in North Bay was walking around in a tanktop and shorts. By the way, last night I walked home in barefeet. It was raining and really cold but I didn't care!
what does the NS sign mean? no shoes or? im confused. im a barefooter, but i havent gone into stores yet w/o shoes.im a little scared to get into trouble haha. I know i shouldnt be, but i will eventually go into a store bf this summer.
