I know the difference. At the current moment it is a watch in effect until 8pm this evening. Golf ball sized hail has been spotted just south west of my area.
do you live close to chicago? my parents live in illinois....so i'm just wondering if they'll be affected by any of this......
I cannot honestly say that I have never seen golf ball sized hail other than on television. I can only imagine...
I live about forty five minutes away from Chicago. From the news report, just about every county is in effect from Bond to Will.
I was watching the discovery channel or something, and they had these storm chasers on there. this one guy was chasing tornadoes and got caught in a crazy ass hail storm. I swear those stones had to be almost baseball sized. his car was totalled. he also filmed destruction of a gas station in florida during one of those hurricanes last year, I think it was charlie..... anyways, that eye wall hit and he filmed everything....... those winds were destructive. that place was left in shambles.
yea when i was out earlier and it first started raingni i wa slike fuck. I had ot go in a laundry room for like an hour. and then run all the way home before it started again.
i was on my bike trip in the summer of 2001. either we were ini montana or north dakota, i forget which one...but anyways, we biked into this town and went down by the lake to stay the night. well, this guy drives by and tells us a storm is coming. he invited us to stay the night at his house. well, the next morning, we looked outside and we saw hail the size of softballs. just imagine the damage to us and our bikes and tents and whatnot, but luckily this guy invited us in for the night. they were huge.
ah well.....my parents live up in the boonies as i call it....they live about 10 minutes away from the wisconsin border.......
