I'm having surgery on friday morning and i'm scared. They discovered i had a hernia that has either stomach lining or fat stuck in it right above my belly button. Usually hernias are not a big deal or even that painful but due to stuff being stuck in it it has to be dealt with. Due to cutting off circulation to whatever it is this a possible infection. Anyways any of you ever had surgery?

I've never had any experience with that myself, but I wanted to let you know that I'll be thinking of you and that I hope everything goes well. I'm sure everything is going to be just fine. :)

the only thing i could call a surgery that i have gotten was when they pulled my teeth out. If your surgery is anything like that, you will be knocked out completly not knowing anything even happened to you...until you wake up of course.

im really sad to hear this crystal :(, I hope it goes well, your my favorite artist ever...i cant get enough of your drawings :D

I had a hernia surgery at age 3, and tubes in my ears twice during childhood.

I do remember the anesthesia making me sick afterwards, but only once. I think it depends on the type they use.

Its pretty crazy when they give you an injection, you feel this electric vibration go up your arm and by the time it reaches your shoulder, you are under.

Crystal, you will definitely be fine, don't worry...routine procedure.

yea, my boy had 2 hernias so he had to have surgery. he had the surgery over winter break. hes doing a lot better now. but he had a lot of pain before surgery. he's recovered and got back to his normal activities, as in all the physical training he did before.

i had knee surgery this past summer, soon coming up on 1 year ago. it wasn't bad. i wasn't scared at all. the only problem i had was if i'm going to be able to get my knee back to 100%. its taking time, but its not 100% yet, for numerous reasons, like i didn't get to complete my physical therapy before i came back to school, so i just stopped when i should have continued. otherwise, surgery went fine.

i hope it goes well for you.

I can completely understand why you're feeling a bit freaked out. Just think though, it's going to be done and over with so fast, that you'll probably sit back afterwards and think "why did I have myself so worried in the first place?" Piece of cake, right?

Hang in there. I hope that you can get a decent sleep tonight and not feel a whole lot of pain.

Good luck, and let us know how everything goes.

good luck to you. closest i had to surgery was a c-section and a tonsillectomy....neither real fun but neither horribly terrible. you will be fine. fear is normal just try not to let it get you worked up

Sorry to hear about what's happening to you, crystalstarr, but I wish you luck!

I had surgery a few times, I had a beauty mark removed from my wrist, my appendix removed, and my left wrist fixed a couple of times - the reason why I can hardly play guitar anymore. I'm not usually scared of getting surgery, but if I had to have like an open-heart surgery, or something that could be dangerous, then I'd be pretty paranoid I guess.

I had to have surgery for this:

    http://www.shands.org/health/information/article/000518.htm

I had the works...torn stuff, infection, EVERYTHING. It says that its a routine procedure with no post surgery pain involved..WRONG!!!! They had to put me under with some kind of crap...and I went into shock and almost died on the operating table!!!*I was allergic to it and didnt know it* It also took 10 PURE shots of morphine to stop the pain I was having immediately after. I was so drugged up for 2 weeks, I didn't know what was what. I have permanent stitches inside cuz something was torn. Fuckin worst day of my life when I had that done...and it's coming back again!:(

+ I have to wear a cup for the rest of my life for support of the area...otherwise it hurts so much I cry. I'm sure yours will be nothing though, it doesnt sound that bad.
