i wish i could go topless in weather like this. it's legal here, but nobody does it, and i wouldn't feel safe doing it in my neighborhood. i'd totally do it if i was out in the country. my nursing toddler daughter would love it, too!
It sucks that although it's legal (in places, anyway) for women to go topless, that it's just not a practical thing to do. I mean, it would stop traffic! News crews would be dispatched! When really, it shouldn't be any big deal. I'm not really a breast man, so it's not even like I'd be so crazy about seeing it (though it'd be nice to see). Funny thing is I'm more into feet than breasts (it's only part of why I'm a barefooter), and I get to see those all over the place! Why don't you start small, by maybe doing work in your front yard bare-breasted? See how things go from there... Blue skies, -Jeffrey
whats the big deal? Did men always go topless? If they didn't, then they must have raised a few eyebrows when they started going topless. Why do they get to go topless now while women can't? Yes most women have bigger breasts, but so what!! In some places people even have a fit it women breast-feed a baby in public. Hell that is what breasts are for, isn't it? Even though some men have nice chests, they don't have a reason (except the weather gets hot) to run around with no shirt, unless they just want to show off their chest. But then why isn't a women allowed to show off her chest. And they say we got equal rights.
well, I dunno if it's legal here - Britain has some pretty screwy public nudity laws. i know its an crime to expose genitals (i think with intention to cause offense, which is the confusing part cuz some people might be offended and others might not), but of course breasts arent covered by that (ugh! bad pun - not intended!), so i imagine it would be legal and ok for a woman to go topless. no-one does though. i dunno if i'm quite ready to shock people like that though, no matter how legal it is. i'd probably sunbathe topless in the park if some other people were doing it too (no, im not a sheep, just feel safer in numbers) - most women here break out the bikinis and go to the park as soon as the news starts telling us there's a heatwave, so i guess missing out the top part wouldn't be that weird. my friend says he saw some girls from our school sunning top-free in the park but he was probably just imagining it or else just wishing he had!
I think its legal here (in the UK) but I'm not entirly sure, any of you girls who know your in places you can should go for it, I'm sure theres loads who would if they thought it was acceptable so you need to set an example.
Yes - since it is legal, go topless in public, attract sexual deviants and enraged parents, distract and annoy random people and create a generally negative impression of yourself. Gee, all the things to look forward to.
A nursing child is one of the most beautiful sights I have seen. Not erotic. Beautiful. Laws which outlaw beauty are just plain wrong. I believe that here in Florida women have the 'right' to feed their kids in public, but cannot otherwise expose their tits, except on especially designated nude beaches. Wierd.
You'd better stop putting all your sarcastic remarks on this forum. Start a topic yourself, and stop annoying us.
I agree with Squawkers! I have also seen some topless men with bigger tits than some women(personally I don't care to look at those) & thus, if thats okay, then a womans breasts should be okay too (not that there isn't some female breasts I wouldn't care to look at either)! However, it isn't the point.... But face it, society just doesn't accept us showing our breasts openly. I go out to a favorite spot in the woods ( I know not everybody has that access) and that is where I do my nude sunbathing(next to a nice pond). Yes, some ppl have walked upon me, and I just shrug some off(they go the other way), while others I have a bit of respect and cover myself.
THANKS the size of the person or the size of the breast isn't the issue here. USA just has double standards about going topless. My breasts used to be the size of bee stings before I started having babies but after breastfeeding all 7 of them they grew slightly. 1 child refused a bottle from anyone for any reason, so if I was in most public places I carried a small blanket to cover which ever breast I was using to feed him. Sometimes I sat in the parking lots to feed him without the blanket and of course people walked by....they just smiled and kept walking.
my daughter absolutely does not tolerate a blanket or anything covering her when she nurses, so i don't even bother. new york has pretty strict laws against harassing a breastfeeding woman. not only can we not be kicked out or made to move to a less visible area when nursing in a public place, the owners, managers, security guards, employees, etc. aren't even supposed to ask us to cover or move. they just have to deal. state law. so i can whip my boob out whenever shakti's hungry.
Yes I breastfed ALL 7 of my babies, the last 2 for over a year. This country has gotten a more positive attitude about breastfeeding in public, but sometimes in some places you still run into problems. If breastfeeding a baby makes a breast more of a food container instead of a sexual body part.....well men don't breastfeed babies. So when they walk around topless, flex their chest in public they are showing the world their sexual body part and their excuse is that it's hot outside & the law says they can. Well women get hot outside too.
yeah... i say go topless!! i think you should go with a friend going topless too, or like your husband(well i dont know if you have one...so ya) so then you wont be harassed... cause yeah... i wish i could go topless, i think its illeagal here... so ya.... though this summer i think ill walk around with just duct tape on my nipples, as long as im with my girlfriend....so then i dont get hit on everywhere so people know that i have a girlfriend, and so i wont get harrased , as much probly anyways...
Hey it used to be illegal for men too. In 1935, 42 men were prosecuted for wearing a swimsuit without a top (oh no they went topless)in Atlantic City,NJ. In 1939 men were given the legal right to go topless. Maybe if women gathered in Washington D.C. topless, then in 4 years we can get the law changed for us too. Some day people will grow up and realize the only thing vile about the human body is the small minds that some people have developed within them.
I am a man, so maybe I am out of line here. As I see it,there isn't enough women willing to push the boundries of societu to get more things legalized for themselves. A few complaints periodicaly just isn't as effective as well stratigized campain to get things. Every orgination has and needs a lobbyist, a voice in higher places to make their point known. Now I sadly haven't paid much attention to the larger women lib movement, but I am confident in saying they must have lobbyist in Washington. Try working with them and see if you can accomplish something. Again I am a man, and this is only my thoughts put to post!
Well, there's TERA in Canada (to whom I actually donated once - heh heh) and a similar organization in the US, but neither of them are taken seriously...
I do not see the harm in woman being naked or people being nude it is just a pity that we are ruled by a government that make laws to please a minority of narrowminded people with sick minds and not the majority .Nudity is meant to be legal but a perfect example was the naked rambler look how many times he got arrested point proven in uk you only have freedom of choice etc if and when the law wish even when you are doing nothing wrong they will find some way to stop you or shut you up .
Topless seems to be a dying trend here in Australia. It's not as prevalent as it was say 20 years ago, possibly due to the skin cancer message. Sure, nudist resorts are topless and bottomless, but on textile beaches, a topless lass is few and far between. Couldn't really count how many I saw last time I was at a textile beach (as opposed to many on the nudist beach). Probably about 3-4. It's just not that common at all now.
People forget that at the turn of the century it was scandalous for a woman to show a bare ankle. Women wore bathing costumes that went from the neck to the wrists, to the ankles. In the 1920's if a man went shirtless on the beach he could be arrested. Going topless is all about fashion and nothing else. In Polynesia women went topless until the white missionaries convinced them it was "sinful." Even here in Palm Springs. the Aqua Caliente Indian tribal women were topless until the 1870's when the white man came and convinced them to wear tops. Just like now a days it's no big deal for a woman to show off her ankle or leg, so it should be with showing off breasts. I should be allowed to be topless anywhere a man can go shirtless.
