I hear that it's an incredible city. There are a fair number of people in here from Central Europe that probably know more. I am an American from SF, living near Nürnberg, if you ever want to check it out up north!

    hey,

yeah, i stayed in torino for a month this summer. i am a study abroad student too =) i stayed there to learn italian and now i live in bologna. are you by any chance going through a program called USAC?? do you speak italian? forse è meglio se parliamo in italiano.. è sempre più bella così.

anyway, torino is pretty cool. it was really hot when i stayed there. i don't know where in ohio you come from, but i am from oklahoma and it was an adjustment to live in a city with 1 million people, taking the bus everywhere. ummm... let me think. it's been a while since i've been there and torino was my first stop in italy and i was definately experiencing culture shock during the whole month of my stay, but i will tell you what i can remember..
there is a badass park that's right on the river po.. full of green grass and beautiful flowers and trees.. i can't remember the name of it, but it is where the castle is. you can find it easily. i think it is the only place like it in the city. anyway, at night, all the kids go there to chill and beat on the drums a bit. there are a lot of cool folks there, but there are also some uncool people.. and (like everywhere in torino) don't go there by yourself. i went there alone one time.. luckily i met up with this homeless cokehead dude that i met on the street a week before, so he could walk me back to my apartment (by the way, if you ever meet a cute homeless cokehead dude named simone that plays guitar and has a mother from argentina and italian father tell him marie says hi =)). but if i wouldn't have met him, i think i would have been pretty nervous walking home alone. and one time i was there during the day and these moroccan guys starting fighting. oh, and that's another thing, i don't know if it's your thing, but grass is pretty hard to come by in these parts.. usually they smoke hashish, "fumo, si chiama. but, it's not like holland hash.. it's this stuff from morocco.. it's different.

the cinema museum is really cool.. and it's in torino's famous building, the mole. all the kids go to piazza castello (the main piazza) on tuesday nights, i believe. and that's cool. there's fire juggling, smoke, drink, music, drums, and that dancing/fighting thing (can't remember what it's called), anyway, it's a good time. oh, and if you like to dance, there are some pretty cool clubs along this strip called the murazzi along the river... there are tons of people there almost every night.

ummm.. i can't think of anything right now.. it was a long time ago! watch your purse when you go to the market, etc..anyway, i would LOVE to talk with you about coming to italy if you want sometime. i will be leaving in august :****( i am sure you have heard this before, but you will have absolutely the time of your life!!! if you want to email me, my address is marie_tree@hotmail.com. in boca lupo ;)

Oh Turin. Visit the Palaze Royale (Royal Palace and Gardens) ... I used to play piano there.

You'll love Turin - even on its dusty days.
