you complained my eyes won't look at you
insisted they are meant to be seen
i was avoiding you, your sweet squint
they darted around, frightened little me
i must avert my eyes when they give me away
you can't know all that i'm hiding
how your you cancelled out my blue

i miss the rain, that warmth, that gray
the clouds grant us a lazy glow
despite the blonde, the hairy legs
you felt the chill and pulled me close
i promise you by the rainy season
you will choose to let me in

these big gray eyes now look at you
but you scare the big voice out of me
my lips open in a mute inner stupor
mutt and lamb and deaf are you
one and one and one is me
    i'm sheepish for your attention
divert me from me to yellow

i miss the rain, the warm, wet gray
damn the clouds, we've nothing else to do
my new dark hair and occasional shave
are for me alone, but enjoy them too
i want the days when we don't need a reason
you will be mine by the rainy season
