Do you think that elderly parents/relatives should be put into nursing homes? Some people choose to do so, because they have no time, energy, patience and desire to take care of the elderly, especially when a person is paralyzed or have a complicated medical condition. Some families, no matter how hard it may be for them, choose to take care of their fathers and mothers, because they believe that family provides better care than strangers in the nursing home.

If you had this dilemma, what would your choice be???

i don't know if i could ever leave my mom alone in a nursing home once she grew too old to look after herself. i think i'd rather have her come and live with me than throw her in some foreign building.

I have one grandmother that lives at home still, with some home care by a nurse...... and one grandmother that lives in a nursing home. it depends on the person and their conditions, really. my grandmother that lives at home still is 94. she has the heard of a 45 year old. its crazy. my other grandmother who lives in the nursing home has mild alzheimers, and has trouble breathing sometimes. she also has a defibulator on her heart. she was a long time smoker.

no, if my mom turns senile her health plan pays for a private nurse. I couldn't let my mom go into a nursing home as she won't be able to let my grandparents go into a nursing home.
