hey Iv been trying to find New artists to listen to but im mostly finding crap. Im into Grateful dead, John butler trio, led zepplen, neil young, stuff like that. Can anyone make any suggestions of some new music i could get ahold of. thanx
garaj mahal, steve kimock, yonder mountain string band, moe., charlie hunter, derek trucks band, karl denson's tiny universe, widespread panic, medeski martin & wood, gov't mule, umphrey's mcgee, ani difranco, bela fleck & the flecktones, victor wooten, and lots more
i have a whole big ol long list man i am making comalation cd's Foghat, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, Lynard Skynard, Ted Nugent, Credence Clear Water Revival, Joe Cocker, The Byrds, The Eagles, Peter Frampton, The Doors, Cream, Seals and Crofts, Harpers Bazzare, Those are some of the best classic rock band of the late 60's and 70's
Here are some musicians (past and present) that dont have a whole lot in common besides being nastily good: Bob Dylan (also known as God), Ozomatli, Robert Randolph, g-love, allman bros, benevento/russo duo, sound tribe sector 9, sublime, janis joplin, the byrds, jefferson airplane, and i am drawing a mental blank but the list goes on and on.... P.S. that is a really random list of artists but you should check them all out they are all amazing.
jimi hendrix, the doors, and most of all ALICE COOPER. alice coopers stuff goes from 1969 to present. i lov e his newer music. he is probbaly the only older star to put out really good stuff. his newer stuff is harder and more edgy now in many ways.
cheesy80s bob dylan is still putting out some amazing stuff...time out of mind...love and theft. Those two albums are some of his best everr and they are both only a few years old.
ooop i forgot guns n roses , great band , i'm still waiting for the new album, its going to happen one day. chinese democracy, plus the new version of gnr sound pretty good. but also check out velvet revolver (the debut album is missing a little but still decent) but live they are awesome. (velvet revolver is pretty much the former members of gnr slash, duff, their drummer, and some new guy, and also the lead singer from stone temple pilots, I seen them live at voodoo fest )
yes i know but bob really i wouldnt think of as the greatest ever, he more on terms of folk rock, but he is pretty good for some songs. alice was at the end of the whole hippie thing and pretty much part of the beginning of the end of the hippi stle and into the best rock metal before even ozzy so with that being said black sabbeth is awesome also also billy idol, i do suggest you listen to his cyber punk album that was his last album over 10-12 years ago. it is really under rated ( was just a concept album, buts good just totally different from anything he has ever done.. think of a cross between billy as a solo artist and the doors hybrid, with a little extra difference) also billy idols new album came out the other day, devils playground, and is actually pretty good. its more of a mix of early billy idol when he was with his punk group generation x in the 70s, a little mix of early 80s billy idols (ie. whiplash smile and rebel yell) and a slight lite drop of the cyberpunk album style, mixed with a litttle modern type of billy)
Widespread Panic, David Bowie, Mississippi Allstars, Gov't Mule, Nickle Creek, Soulive, Robert Walters 20th Congress, CSNY, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Velvet Underground, George Harrison, John lennon, Warren Haynes, Antibalas, Norah Jones The majority of the other suggestions I totally agree with as recommendations! I think I repeated a few (I tried not to) but oh well. These were some I could think up off the top of my head. Theres SOOO much stuff out there....listen to as much as u can it will change ur life!
