As a response to his loss in the Supreme Court this week, the White House releasd a statement that Trump is now utilizing Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 to impose 10% tariffs on all countries for 150 days. Trump announced on February 21, 2026 that he increased it to 15%. Trade Act of 1974 - Wikipedia

But veteran trade lawyer Robert Leo says that while refunding all those tens of billions of dollars will take some work, it's very doable. "It won't be a mess," he says, noting that "customs has all this information electronically. And I've talked with our clients and they know how much they've paid." Indeed, the National Retail Federation put out a statement Friday urging the lower court to ensure what it called "a seamless process" to refund the money that was wrongly collected from importers.
It's another mess Trump created. Cue the cartoon showing Trump in a wrecking ball machine with the words 'Trump Will Fix It' on the side of it.
Trump's DOJ is losing case after case. DoJ cases against protesters keep collapsing as officers’ lies are exposed in court String of embarrassing defeats for prosecutors as experts condemn DoJ effort to cast people as ‘violent perpetrators’ Sam Levin in Los Angeles Sat 21 Feb 2026 08.00 EST DoJ cases against protesters keep collapsing as officers’ lies are exposed in court excerpt: "Department of Justice prosecutors across the US have suffered a string of embarrassing defeats in their aggressive pursuit of criminal cases against people accused of “assaulting” and “impeding” federal officers. In recent months, the federal government has relentlessly prosecuted protesters, government critics, immigrants and others arrested during immigration operations, often accusing them of physically attacking officers or interfering with their duties. But many of those cases have recently been dismissed or ended in not guilty verdicts. In several high-profile cases, the prosecutions fell apart because they relied on statements by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officers that had no supporting evidence or in some instances were proven by video footage to be blatantly false."
DoJ cases against protesters keep collapsing as officers’ lies are exposed in court excerpt: The DHS did not respond to inquiries, and the White House declined to comment. McBroom said the government was silencing free speech through a prosecution that depended on multiple officials repeating false statements. “There’s a level of terror to this, in that he was being held in jail for exercising his first amendment rights, and it was a collaborative effort to hide the truth that was keeping him in custody. It’s terrifying.”
Trump Says He Deserves the Congressional Medal of Honor for His 2018 Visit to Iraq: 'I Was Extremely Brave' The Congressional Medal of Honor is the country’s "most prestigious military decoration" and is awarded to recognize American armed forces personnel By Charna Flam Published on February 19, 2026 10:32PM EST https://people.com/trump-says-he-deserves-congressional-medal-of-honor-for-visiting-iraq-11910389 excerpt: “I decided to go to Iraq. I was extremely brave. So brave in fact that I wanted to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor,” Trump told the Georgia crowd, per footage published by ABC News 4. “I said to my people, ‘Am I allowed to give myself the Congressional Medal of Honor?’”
A few weeks after his visit to Iraq, Trump canceled the military flight to Afghanistan for the bipartisan Congressional delegation that was to visit U.S. troops. Trump was upset that Pelosi suggested he delay his State of the Union Address until after the end of the government shutdown that he caused because Congress (including his own party) wouldn't give him taxpayer money for his border wall. Trump eventually ended the shutdown by signing a budget bill that didn't include any money for his border wall.
It was another Trump slap in the face to active troops and veterans and another reason why his approval rating with military people dropped consistently and gradually throughout his first term in office.
Among other factors, it was enough for him to not be reelected in 2020. But the populace forgave him in the four years he was out of office and longed for the good old days of Trump, so people reelected him in 2024. If he's out of office from 2029 to 2033 and still alive with a third term somehow legal, the populace would reelect him in 2032 at age 86 so that they can go back to the good old days of Trump and his shooting of U.S. citizens during his immigration raids (the ones they forgot about like they forgot about his riot at the Capitol).

https://www.npr.org/2026/02/21/g-s1-110961/supreme-court-tariffs excerpt: "There are, in fact, several statutes that allow him to impose some tariffs on his own, but they are limited. For example, one of the key statutes he cited Friday does allow him to impose certain tariffs on his own, but only for six months, and after that he must get approval from Congress. The other statutes he cited have other provisions that make it far more difficult to act unilaterally. The other problem that Trump faces is that the billions of dollars already collected in tariffs were supposed to offset the tax cuts that the Republican-dominated Congress adopted last year at Trump's behest. Now, however, the money isn't there."
Trump's use of the IEEPA allowed him to impose import tariffs on any country, any amount, for any reason he deemed fit, and indefinitely. The U.S. Supreme Court struck down Trump's IEEPA approach. The IEEPA was enacted in 1977. International Emergency Economic Powers Act - Wikipedia
