Iron Butterfly (1968) "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" made my brain explode every time it came on the radio, which was every 5 minutes or so in 1968-1970.

When the Beatles hit the U.S. I saw them as appealing to girls. My older sister bought all their albums.
I was more into heavier music like The Animals, Kinks, Yardbirds, Hollies, Small Faces, etc. or on the U.S. side The Beach Boys, Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Jan and Dean, The Byrds, etc.

But when I discovered Rubber Soul "the pot album" things changed.

    Henry The VIII, I Am
Easy lyrics to sing (as they are repeated). Also, the song's annoying quality is evidenced in the movie GHOST.

I had a little transistor radio from Japan at that time. Every time I tuirned it in I hoped to hear that song, Sunshine of Your Love, and, "I Am The God of Hell Fire..."

I remember the first time I heard that last song. I had turned on the radio, and that song came on. My mom said, "Oh my God!" and I knew at that point that I liked it!

The intro is always omitted, here's a more complete version...

I forgot about that longer version. At first I didn't even recognize it. But the longer I listened I started to remember it.

I think it was 1986 and I was working in a bakery in Durango, Colorado. There was this punk song on the radio, which I would hear everyday, on a local station.

I'm not sure of the title, but the main lyric, repeated over and over in a scream was "kill your mother, kill your mother".

I couldn't do anything about it as I didn't have access to the radio. I left there as soon as I realized they couldn't pay their vendors who were starting to cut them off. The staff was speculating how long before they would be out of a job without a final paycheck. I didn't want to hang around to find out.

I'm not sure if that song is the one from Dying Fetus as that came out in the 1990s. That one is called "Kill Your Mother, Rape Your Dog!"

I don't want to listen to that to find out.

I guess neither song got Grammys.
