Trump attacked the seat of the U.S. federal government using his violent and deadly riot. He held members of Congress and his own Vice President hostage for hours to try to force them to allow him to steal the 2020 election.

Kidnapping a president of another country isn't any different for Trump.

Rep. Mke Lee of Utah is questioning whether Trump's capture of Maduro has any U.S. Constitutional basis.

Trump spoke with Mike Lee by accident during his violent attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6. Trump was trying to reach Tommy Tuberville but he and Giuliani dialed the wrong number again. Lee was on the phone only a short while because members of Congress were being whisked to a safer location to protect themselves from Trump's rioters.

Mike Lee shouldn't be surprised that Trump has used the same type of violent tactics to essentially kidnap Maduro of Venezuela.

After Venezuela Attack, Trump Says Something Must Be Done About Mexico | The New Republic

    excerpt:

Venezuela has the largest proven oil reserves on the planet, with 303 billion barrels worth of crude, or about a fifth of global reserves, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. And that fact has clearly been at the top of Trump’s mind.

Appearing in a Fox News interview Saturday morning, Trump was asked what he sees for the “future of Venezuela’s oil industry.”

“Well, I see that we’re going to be very strongly involved in it, that’s all. I mean, what can I say? We have the greatest oil companies in the world, the biggest, the greatest, and we’re going to be very much involved in it.”

Trump thinks something needs to be done about Columbia, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Canada, Greenland, Iran, and Gaza.

Trump will want a Nobel Peace Prize for it.

Trump captured Maduro on January 3, the same date that Noriega surrendered to the U.S.

    excerpt:

"Noriega finally surrendered to U.S. forces on January 3, 1990. He was immediately put on an MC-130E Combat Talon I aircraft and flown to the United States."

Bush Sr. did it to Manuel Noriega.

United States invasion of Panama - Wikipedia

    excerpts:

"On December 20, the U.S. invasion of Panama began. Panamanian forces were rapidly overwhelmed, although operations continued for several weeks. Endara was sworn in as president shortly after the start of the invasion. Noriega eluded capture for several days before seeking refuge in the Holy See diplomatic mission in Panama City. He surrendered on January 3, 1990, and was then flown to the U.S., where he was tried, convicted and sentenced to 40 years in prison."

"The U.S. government invoked self-defense as a legal justification for the invasion.[33] Several scholars and observers have opined that the invasion was illegal under international law, arguing that the government's justifications were, according to these sources, factually groundless, and moreover, even if they had been true they would have provided inadequate support for the invasion under international law.[63]"

Kristi Noem needs to concoct her own promo, such as:

"If you like the idea of shooting immigrants like I shot and killed my untrainable puppy and goat, ICE is for you! Join now!"

Trump VP contender Kristi Noem writes of killing dog – and goat – in new book

    excerpt:

“I hated that dog,” Noem writes, adding that Cricket had proved herself “untrainable”, “dangerous to anyone she came in contact with” and “less than worthless … as a hunting dog”.

“At that moment,” Noem says, “I realised I had to put her down.”

Noem, who also represented her state in Congress for eight years, got her gun, then led Cricket to a gravel pit.

“It was not a pleasant job,” she writes, “but it had to be done. And after it was over, I realised another unpleasant job needed to be done.”

Incredibly, Noem’s tale of slaughter is not finished.

Her family, she writes, also owned a male goat that was “nasty and mean”, because it had not been castrated. Furthermore, the goat smelled “disgusting, musky, rancid” and “loved to chase” Noem’s children, knocking them down and ruining their clothes.

Noem decided to kill the unnamed goat the same way she had just killed Cricket the dog. But though she “dragged him to a gravel pit”, the goat jumped as she shot and therefore survived the wound. Noem says she went back to her truck, retrieved another shell, then “hurried back to the gravel pit and put him down”.

Trump sees US oil giants driving Venezuela oil rebound. Energy execs are wary.
The White House has told companies they must rebuild Venezuela's crude-pumping infrastructure if they want compensation for assets seized by Caracas.

“We’re going to have our very large United States oil companies, the biggest anywhere in the world, go in, spend billions of dollars, fix the badly broken infrastructure, the oil infrastructure and start making money for the country,” Trump said as he celebrated Maduro’s capture.

Mike Lee was on the receiving end of Trump's wrath during his Jan 6. insurrection. Now he seems surprised at Trump's attack on Venezuela and is talking about 'potential concerns' about Trump's behavior.

US plans to 'run' Venezuela and tap its oil reserves, Trump says, after operation to oust Maduro

    excerpt:

U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted his potential concerns, reflecting a view from the right flank in the Congress. “I look forward to learning what, if anything, might constitutionally justify this action in the absence of a declaration of war or authorization for the use of military force,” Lee said on X.

Noriega was not an elected leader.
Saddam rose to power in a coup and attacked and looted Kuwait, a US ally thanks to oil.

    So there are differences.

After Venezuela operation, Trump says the whole hemisphere is in play
With brash threats aimed all around the region, the president and his team made it clear Venezuela might be just the beginning, sparking fear across the Western hemisphere.

“He effed around and he found out,” Hegseth said of Maduro.

The menacing comments were interwoven with specific threats toward three other countries that could soon be in the administration’s sights: Colombia, Cuba and Mexico.

Maduro arrives in U.S. after military operation in Venezuela, Trump says U.S. will "run" the country for now
By Jennifer Jacobs, Joe Walsh, James LaPorta, and Tucker Reals
    Updated on: January 4, 2026 / 7:52 AM EST / CBS News

    excerpt:

"We're going to rebuild the oil infrastructure, which will cost billions of dollars, it will be paid for by the oil companies directly," Mr. Trump said. "And we're going to get the oil flowing the way it should be."

Mr. Trump said "we're designating various people."

"It's largely going to be — for a period of time — the people who are standing right behind me," Mr. Trump said, pointing to Hegseth, Rubio and Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "We're going to be running it, we're going to be bringing it back."
