Machado thinks Trump is the protector of freedom in the Western Hemisphere.

María Corina Machado says "I absolutely support President Trump's strategy" on Venezuela

    excerpt:

Washington — Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado said she's "absolutely" supportive of President Trump's strategy in the country amid his administration's increased pressure campaign against the regime of President Nicolás Maduro.

"We, the Venezuelan people, are very grateful to him and to his administration, because I believe he is a champion of freedom in this hemisphere," Machado said of Mr. Trump on "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan."

Standoff at construction site in MN between ICE and workers in sub-zero temperature.

Trump's latest round in his marauding of the country is attacking Somalis and others in democratic-led Minneapolis and St. Paul in MN because an Afghan national shot two National Guard troops in DC.

Trump is currently attacking St. Paul and Minneapolis.

Melvin Carter is the Democratic mayor of St. Paul and its first African-American mayor.

Jacob Frey is the Democratic mayor of Minneapolis.

Minneapolis City Council approves concept for George Floyd Square reconstruction.

It will infuriate Trump who selectively sided with particular police during the aftermath of the George Floyd killing (but is against police who defended the Capitol against his Jan. 6 rioters).

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/12/14/trump-hardball-tariff-fees-trade-00689892

    excerpt:

"According to court filings and half a dozen people familiar with the cases, Trump’s Customs and Border Protection is denying requests to delay finalizing tariff payments and transferring the funds to the Treasury. In some cases, the agency is even fast-tracking that process, according to attorney Brett Johnson, a partner at the law firm Snell & Wilmer, who spoke Thursday during an advisory webinar for importers.

Typically, CBP grants a 314-day window after goods enter the U.S. to “liquidate” the tariffs and send the money to the Treasury Department. Once that happens, importers can no longer challenge the tariff payment through routine customs corrections and must instead pursue a more complex formal protest process — and, if necessary, litigation — to recover duties."

Trump has been using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act as the argument for waging his tariff wars without Congressional participation.

Trump administration appears to be rushing to place tariff money into the U.S. Treasury as soon as possible before the Supreme Court rules on whether his tariff wars are legal (similar to Trump fast-tracking deportations before the courts can review and intervene and demolishing the East Wing of the White House during the government shutdown to avoid review at the time by officials who weren't at work).

If the Supreme Court rules against Trump, the fast-tracking of import tariff money into the Treasury may hamstring importers who will be trying to recover the money.

Gerrymandering in Texas for the 2026 elections may not net as many GOP seats as anticipated.

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/12/14/politics/texas-redistricting-gop-latinos

    excerpt:

"Trump improved Republicans’ standing with Latino voters in 2024, winning about 46%, according to 2024 exit polls, up from 32% in 2020. Texas’ new maps sought to build on Trump’s strong performance in the state, which he won by 14 points. Notably, Trump won every county in the heavily Latino Rio Grande Valley, which was long a Democratic stronghold.

Four of the five Democratic-held seats targeted by the state GOP are majority Latino under the new maps, with the 28th Congressional District, represented by longtime Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, topping out at over 90% Latino.

But Trump’s standing among Latinos has fallen dramatically nationwide since the start of his second term, outpacing his drop in approval overall. In three statewide races this November – a Democratic-backed ballot measure in California and gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia – Democrats gained the most in counties with higher shares of Latinos, even outpacing Joe Biden’s 2020 margins there."

Slapdash prosecutions by Trump, particulartly the failed one against Comey. Trump noticed the 5-year statute of limitations was days away and did a last-minute prosecution by installing Halligan who was later deemed by a court to have been illegally appointed.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/12/12/us/politics/trump-justice-dept.html

    excerpt:

"Nonetheless, career prosecutors and Trump-appointed department officials who reviewed the evidence thought the case was far too weak to present to a grand jury. Ms. Halligan’s predecessor, Erik S. Siebert, found insufficient evidence to bring charges against her, and had raised similar concerns about a potential case against Mr. Comey.

Mr. Trump forced him out, and hastily replaced him with Ms. Halligan, a former insurance lawyer with no prosecutorial experience. She quickly obtained indictments against Ms. James and Mr. Comey, before they were tossed out by a judge who ruled she had been illegally appointed."

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/12/13/politics/epstein-files-trump-poll-analysis

    excerpt:

"The president has, quite simply, done a bunch of things that sure made it look like he had something to hide. That includes a series of misleading statements about his past relationship with Epstein, as well as his slow disclosures about knowing Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell recruited a minor employee from Mar-a-Lago, Virginia Giuffre.

There are also multiple data points that suggest Trump knew that Epstein had a particular interest in young females, at least. And that’s not just his infamous 2002 quote about Epstein liking women “on the younger side.”

The Epstein emails released last month even showed Epstein suggesting in private that Trump knew something about Epstein and girls. “Of course he knew about the girls …” Epstein said at one point in 2019, in apparent reference to Maxwell’s recruitment. In another email from 2011, Epstein called Trump the “dog that hasn’t barked” and said Giuffre had “spent hours at my house” with Trump."

Epstein files are to be released by Trump's DOJ by December 19, 2025.

Early in Trump's second term, AG Bondi said she had the files on her desk and was ready to release them, but it didn't happen.

The House passed a measure in November to force the DOJ to release the Epstein files. It passed with a 427-1 vote and Trump signed it into law.

Knowing Trump, he will wait until 11:59 pm on December 19 to release them.

Critics contend the DOJ is spending the 30 days whitewashing and redacting names from the files to protect Trump.

Trump blames Rob Reiner's stabbing death on Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Trump’s comment on Rob Reiner’s stabbing triggers outcry from MTG

    excerpt:

“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote Monday.

Mar-a-Lago judge issues weekend order allowing Trump to oppose release of Jack Smith's report — after ignoring his challengers for months on end
    Matt Naham

Mar-a-Lago judge issues weekend order allowing Trump to oppose release of Jack Smith's report

    excerpt:

"The public has a right to see Special Counsel Jack Smith's findings, and no amount of legal maneuvering by the President or Judge Cannon changes that. It shouldn't take years to release a report about the President's own handling of classified documents — especially while he demands full transparency from the very people he accuses of the same conduct," Chukwu said. "It raises an obvious question: why keep information about himself buried that he insists must be exposed when it involves his political opponents? Every day this report stays hidden shields those in power and undermines accountability."
