FIFA Gives Trump a Dumb Medal So He’ll Stop Talking About Nobel Prize
Would a peace prize by any other name smell as sweet?

FIFA Gives Trump a Dumb Medal So He’ll Stop Talking About Nobel Prize | The New Republic

    excerpt:

The U.S. president on Friday became the inaugural recipient of FIFA’s newly minted peace prize.

The prize was the invention of Gianni Infantino, the boss of the international soccer league, who shocked his own top officials by cooking up the concept after Donald Trump begged, pleaded, and failed to win the Nobel Peace Prize in October.

“This is truly one of the great honors of my life, and beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing this, we’ve saved millions and millions of lives,” Trump said after the medal—a sculpture of hands holding a soccer ball—had been draped around his neck. “So many different wars that we were able to end.”

That prediction from months ago was close.

It happened this week before Trump could finish his ballroom (which is now at least $350 million, up from $200 million).

He didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump got something much better: the just-manufactured 'peace' prize by the sports organization FIFA who awarded it to him at Kennedy Center with the Village People live on stage performing the song 'YMCA' while he did his hand dance.

Peace medal and YMCA: Trump steals the show at World Cup draw
Washington (United States) (AFP) – He got a gold medal. He made a game show-style appearance with foreign leaders. And he danced to YMCA.

Peace medal and YMCA: Trump steals the show at World Cup draw

    excerpt:

"Trump is hardly a stranger to bombast, but even he looked a little lost for words at one point as, after a slick video pronounced him the inaugural winner of FIFA's new Peace Prize, Infantino waxed lyrical about his achievements.

"Mr President, this is your prize. This is your peace prize," he said, before adding with a chuckle: "There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go."

Trump proceeded to put the gong around his neck. "I'm going to wear it right now," he said."

CNN Hot Mic Catches Someone Busting Out Laughing as Trump Gets Brand Newly-Made Prize

    excerpt:

CNN microphones caught someone busting out laughing as anchor Dana Bash cut into a ceremony in which President Donald Trump was awarded a “Peace Prize” that was created just for him.

Trump was on hand at The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts on Friday for the FIFA draw, during which FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented him with a brand-new honor: the “inaugural 2025 FIFA Peace Prize.”

The FIFA event at Kennedy was about as corny, superficial, off-topic, and contrived as can be imagined.

It looked like a Trump reality-TV gameshow.

National Parks Now Free on Trump’s Birthday, but Not on Black Holidays | The New Republic

    excerpt:

"The Trump administration removed free national park access on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth, while adding it for President Trump’s birthday.

Now two federal holidays that celebrate Black American history will be ticketed—from around $3 to $30—while Trump’s birthday on June 14 is free entry.

This change, first reported by SFGATE, is emblematic of the small-scale, antagonistic ways in which Trump wages his MAGA culture war on any federal mention of Black history in America, or any minority group, for that matter.:

The FIFA 'peace' award event was at Kennedy Center that Trump trashed. Early in 2025 he fired the board and made himself the chairman.

It also happened the same week that Trump put his name in silver letters on the outside of the building that houses the now defunct U.S. Institute of Peace that he dismantled in March 2025 to bolster his event inside praising himself for supposedly stopping a war in Africa for which he thinks he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

National Parks Now Free on Trump’s Birthday, but Not on Black Holidays | The New Republic

    excerpt:

"He signed an executive order directing the Interior Department to erase any information that could be misconstrued as a “corrosive ideology,” which of course included anything relating to race relations, LGBTQ rights, and sexism. He also removed a picture of Harriet Tubman from the National Park Service page on the Underground Railroad, and changed the words “enslaved African Americans” to “enslaved workers” while removing a section that discussed Benjamin Franklin being a slave owner.

This move is spiteful and self-centered, and a perfect opportunity for the president to center himself while punching down on MLK Day and Juneteenth in the name of MAGA."

Bessent is blaming immigrants for high beef prices.

Now, how lame is that excuse....I suppose migrants were having a sick cattle drive across the border... Of course, Treasury Secretaries are well versed in the nuances of the cattle business.

Looks like it's time for ICE to raid all the American cattle ranches and deport those migrant cattle.

ICE Barbie (Noem) can tag along dressed in a cowboy outfit with a lasso.

It will be known on Thursday if Trump gets his way with gerrymandering in Indiana for the 2026 midterm elections.

    excerpt:

"The Senate convened ahead of what is elected to be a final Thursday vote on the map the House passed last week. It would all but ensure GOP control over Indiana’s nine House seats, up from their current 7-2 advantage. Bray cautioned it’s possible the vote could slip to Friday."

Trump reportedly is looking to replace Noem with someone seen by the public as less cruel but who is just as cruel.

Rumors are circulating that Hegseth may be replaced for 2026.

Kristi Noem: A Case Study in the GOP Tilt Toward Ostentatious Fascism | The New Republic

    excerpt:

"In other words, there’s a reason Youngkin is in the hunt for the job. If he gets the gig, he probably won’t be as flashily cruel as Noem has been. But there’s every reason to think that he’ll do just what Stephen Miller tells him to do—if only because he’s leaving Richmond with his political future in shambles and needs to revive his career. If the Trump Cabinet is his meal ticket, he’ll follow orders."

    Article from June 2025.

Judge restricts DOGE access to federal databases, finding 'breach of law and trust'

    excerpt:

"The plaintiffs have shown that the defendants disclosed OPM records to individuals who had no legal right of access to those records," Cotes wrote. "In doing so, the defendants violated the Privacy Act and departed from cybersecurity standards that they are obligated to follow. This was a breach of law and of trust. Tens of millions of Americans depend on the Government to safeguard records that reveal their most private and sensitive affairs."

The judge further criticized the Trump administration's handling of OPM records.

"The Government could have acknowledged that in its rush to accomplish a new President’s agenda mistakes were made and established, important protocols were overlooked. It has not," Cote wrote. "The Government has defended this lawsuit by repeatedly invoking a mantra that it adhered to all established procedures and safeguards. It did not. Without a full-throated recognition that the law and established cybersecurity procedures must be followed, the risk of irreparable harm will continue to exist."
