Did you ever notice your cat staring at you? Sometimes for no reason it seems? Well, in a pet book I read once they pointed out something interesting. The reason why a cat stares at you while you on the phone is because he thinks you must be talking to him. You and he are alone in the room, so what else could it be? (I have noticed that some animals are more smart than this. I don't know if they understand technology like phones. But they seem to know you aren't addressing them IAE.)

It's part of their hunting app. By noticing patterns in animal behavior, cats learn which animals are weakest and when and where is the best time and place to stalk and pounce on them. My cat will stare at me with huge dilated, sad looking eyes until I play with her. So that's her please let's play pitiful look. Normally cats do not stare unless they are stalking something. If you hold their stare, they will often do the slow blink to break the tension and to let you know you're not on their menu for the moment...
I'm allergic to cats, but if I am careful I can live in the same house as one or visit a house with one. I've seen no shortage of odd cat behaviors. Also, I like how cats seem to immediately like me. Cats are so funny! Wish I could pet them and interact with them and not itch. I enjoy seeing crazy cat behavior!
Now Christmastime is coming. And cats can climb up Christmas trees but they could never get down. Don't they know that?
