Tushy Tushy... Statistical conclusions? Really? You're really going to die on that hill? "I believe statistical conclusions tell me the average temperature of the whole earth to sufficient accuracy that I have no doubt the earth has warmed half a degree over the last quarter century and two degrees over the last two centuries." Seriously? And you want people to take you seriously? Really... Nobody's really that gullible. So what's in it for you?
Trudgy, Trudgy, Trudgy. You think that we can't generalize about the properties of rocks or trees without studying every tree on the planet? We'd never have made it out of the caves with that attitude. I gave you several links to detailed explanations about how climate scientist operate, and you obviously didn't look at them. As for the polar bears, glad some are making it, but most seem to be in trouble. Adblock Plus has been updated That's the trouble with over-generalization on the basis of limited samples! 'Fraid nobody takes you seriously, pal. You don't even take yourself seriously, cuz you're a T R O L L !!!!! Trolling sites like this gives you a sense of superiority to normal, intelligent people, cuz you can say nothing substantial and jerk them around. But I'm tired of feeding you. I like to discuss things with informed, rational folks who agree on the importance of logic, evidence, and defending informed positions. Maybe somebody else will take you on. I'm done!
I'm "trolling"? That's rich. Maybe you really do believe your limited trusted news sources are telling you the whole truth with no spin nor omission. And that anything contrary is just misinformation. Can't count out that you haven't seen through it and become skeptical. You wouldn't be the only one. The other explanation is that you're somehow benefiting from the fear mongering of existential threat. Like selling or installing alternate energy sources.
Why those crooked bastards--installing solar panels and wind generators!!! Off with their misinformed heads!!
I said I would be back in 2025. Better late than never. Here is the study I took part in. It was published back in February: Dropbox Abstract: The von Neumann–Wigner consciousness-collapse interpretation of quantum mechanics was explored by testing if human observation of interference in an optical interferometer might act like a weak quantum measurement effect. Forty-seven participants selected via a worldwide search for individuals with experience in focusing their attention were each provided with a custom-made optical apparatus. Using this device, they ran a pre-assigned series of test sessions to see if illumina-tion recorded in a portion of the interference pattern would be affected when a feedback signal based on that measure was observed versus unobserved. Another portion of the interference pattern was recorded simultaneously but never observed to provide control data. Environmental sensors and real-time encryption of the illumination data were among the methods included in the design of the experiment to help ensure data integrity. With all data combined the results did not support three preregistered hypotheses, but for one of those hypotheses participants selected for experience in an outward versus an inward focus of attention achieved significantly better results in reducing interference (p¼0.008). An exploratory analysis found a progressive decline in interference while participants observed a portion of the interference pattern, as compared to data recorded simulta-neously from an unobserved portion (p¼5.91014). By comparison, applying the same analysis during no-observation periods found no differences in trends (p¼0.77). Control data run with no observers present and subjected again to this same trend analysis showed uniformly nonsignificant results. Alternative explanations, including possible environmental influences that might have caused these outcomes, as well as recommendations for future studies, are discussed.
I think most anyone can understand --say--if dishes are piled onto a table and if there is unlimited space on said table( assumed as per usual)--especially if the act of piling is unobserved--gravity on said experiment will never take place.
Glad to see you back @ChinaCatSunflower002, and thank you for that detailed analysis. I am still wrapping my head about the importance of this study, and wonder if you had any observations yourself.
Yes, I will give my reaction to the results when I get a moment to. Tomorrow morning at the latest I should have some time.
Overall, my reaction leans slightly more towards disappointment than optimism. Stripping everything bare, and remaining as dry and straightforward as possible, it’s safe to conclude that the experiment was a failure. It failed to achieve significant results with its pre-registered hypotheses. That being said, if one were to choose to accept Radin’s sub-hypothesis of that the “Magicians” would outperform the “Meditators” in a statistically significant way, then it’s possible to have some optimism about the results. I could easily predict any skeptic looking at this and saying that Radin’s just toying with the numbers for the sub-hypothesis, and that it’s impossible to draw a distinct line between “inward” and “outward” focus. I think it’s also possible that the collective results thrown into a mean may have cancelled each other out, and that it would be better to test one individual than a group of people. I began running my own individual trials this time last year, but as I was not able to have access to the statistical evaluation, and Radin was too busy, I never was able to grasp how I was performing. It was just an experiment “off the books”. The only thing I was able to do was take my own notes and write down how the colors were performing on The Box, but again, unlike my Dice tests, I had no way to track how well I was doing, and how often the various colors should come up on average. So my main goal was just to get white light as much as humanly possible, but still, I wanted direct statistics. Then I received news I think it was October 8, 2024 that our building’s boiler was unsafe, that it could blow up at any time, and the landlord refused to replace it, and that we all had 10 days to find a new place to live. That was the second year in a row where I began doing intense Quantum Psi Tests, the previous year being my experiments with a Radioactive Decay RNG (which were showing early signs of giving interesting results), and then some random emergency, in 2023 a house flood, in 2024 an unsafe boiler, threw my living situation into chaos. So this year, my “experiment” has been to not do any Quantum Psi experiments and so far there’s no random chaos happening. The Radin Box and the RNG are sitting in storage in my mom’s basement, I have my own place, and I’m interested in continuing new tests, but a little superstitious and paranoid about it. I’m back in school now, and next semester I will be going into the Chemistry Lab. I’ve done the Classical Dice, I’ve done two Quantum tests, and now my eye is on the molecular level. That’s my next interest.
I should also add that I have theorized directly to Radin that the issue is possibly that we had no direct statistical feedback mechanism during the SIGIL Experiment. With my earlier Dice Tests, I was able to know exactly what my statistical targets were, and set up targets within targets in this manner. For example, any random number of a six-sided die will show its face roughly 17/100 times. So I set a goal to hit my intended number at least 2/10 times every 10 rolls. So say I hit my intended number twice in the first 3 rolls in a round of 10 rolls. I now know mentally that my next 7 rolls are bonus rolls. THIS is where streaks would happen. You know you’ve already hit your quota, and now you’re trying to hit as many bonuses as possible. Something about this would lead to streaks. It’s a similar vibe to where in Football, the defense jumps offsides before the snap, but then the play is still allowed to develop. It’s a free play, and so usually the QB will just chuck the ball deep for a big play, because you’re in pure bonus territory.
What does any of this have to do with Climate change? Looks like the thread is derailed and needs to be split.
You would have to scroll through this thread but I was arguing that Climate Change is a giant conspiracy, and that if there was something that could fix Climate Change at all, it should be Cold Fusion, which I believe needs Psychokinesis to achieve. Basically, when you break it all down, my idea is that if Climate Change IS a real threat, then we need the world’s most powerful Magicians to act as the world’s Battery, using Psychokinesis to activate the Quantum Tunneling required for Nuclear Transmutation at room temperature.
Climate change isn't even a minor conspiracy theory. First of all we know, through years and years of science, that the climate changes. For instance we know of the Marinoan glaciation, Andean-Saharan glaciation, Karoo Ice Age, Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum, Quaternary glaciation, Last Glacial Maximum, Oldest Dryas, Holocene glacial retreat, Older Peron, Middle Bronze Age Cold Epoch, etc. etc; to name a few climatic changes. What some dispute is that the Earth is now going through a rapid climatic change (the climate is always slowly changing), and further that humans are, in part, to cause for this rapid change. It's a complicated matter and unfortunately those that don't understand the science behind the current views on climate change refuse to accept the evidence amassed by the experts over many years. A fact that the ancient Greeks knew. It's all part of the war on science and education. How the Trump administration is dismantling science in the U.S.
Was waiting for you to chime in, MeAgain. Note that I said that I WAS arguing it’s a conspiracy. As you rightly pointed out, the climate is always changing indeed. I should have said the man-made aspect I was arguing is a conspiracy.
The argument that climate changing now occurring is not related to human greenhouse gas emissions doesn’t even pass the giggle test. There is a lack of data, reputable scientific models and independent investigations supporting such assertions. The only conspiracy I see is the effort by fossil fuel minions to keep on drilling and coal mining. I personally taught climate science at the college level for 10 years and am familiar with the data ands it’s interpretations. The R’s are greedy enough to bet the planet’s future to gain a few personal economic payoffs now.
I understand, you were, "arguing that (the man-made aspect) of Climate Change is a giant conspiracy." As opposed to what? Is the man-made aspect of climate change based on science, in your opinion or not?
