Ten years after the Supreme Court extended marriage rights to same-sex couples nationwide, the justices this fall will consider for the first time whether to take up a case that explicitly asks them to overturn that decision... and after Dobbs, we all know what they think of stare decisis. Don't expect a fair and impartial hearing on the merits. Supreme Court formally asked to overturn landmark same-sex marriage ruling Justice Thomas: SCOTUS ‘should reconsider’ contraception, same-sex marriage rulings Justice Alito’s remarks show marriage equality is imperiled
Trump's nominees to the federal bench are gunning for same-sex marriage Trump has appointed 239 Federal judges, with 47 vacancies still to fill. Like the Supreme Court, Federal judgeships are lifetime appointments. Predominantly white males hand-picked by the Federalist Society not for their experience and expertise, but for their youth and ideological purity, these people will be subverting democracy and polluting the judiciary for decades to come. American jurisprudence will not recover in my lifetime.
I hate these people so damn much. Why can't they leave the lgbt community the fuck alone? Nothing but a bunch of drooling, raving bigots, every last one of them.
Don't count on stare decisis to save LGBTQ rights. Among the various cases Thomas and his colleagues are expected to weigh in on is a request to overturn the 2015 Obergefell supreme court decision that legalized marriage for same-sex couples nationwide. Other cases for its 2025-2026 term involve tariffs, trans rights, campaign finance law, religious rights and capital punishment. Thomas was in the 5-4 minority that voted against the Obergefell decision. In June 2022, the conservative supermajority struck down the Roe v Wade supreme court precedent. Thomas wrote a concurring opinion in which he urged the court to “reconsider all … substantive due process precedents”, including in Obergefell as well as cases involving rights to contraception and same-sex intimacy (Lawrence v. Texas). Clarence Thomas says precedent might not determine cases on upcoming supreme court docket
The Supreme Court Justices are tired of carrying water for Trump. They have bent over backwards to validate his borderline challenges and are spoiling to assert judicial independence. Wrong move. At Trumps inauguration 2025, we saw his many influential supporters crowd the Capital Rotunda: Sergey Brin, Elon, Zuckerbucks & Priscilla Chan, Sam Altman, Jeff & Lauren, Tim Cook. many others. They will all turn against Trump if he is pulling the rug out from under family, friends and employees of these business titans. Wrong move. I could continue................
They want to control everyone's bodies, everyone's thoughts, everyone's religion , and the right to be one's own true self. North Korea, anyone? really-------what is wrong with these people?
Justice Amy Comey Barrett is on a book tour. The book is : Independence Is she Independent enough to resist overturning Ogberfel? Not sure that the court is entertaining overturning this precedent. Is this a news story from: The Guardian, trolling us all?
The evidence does not support that assertion. Not counting Trump v. United States, which immunizes Trump from prosecution for crimes committed while in office, essentially declaring rex non potest peccare, since May Federal district courts have ruled against the administration 94.3% of the time. The Supreme Court, however, has overruled it's own Federal courts, siding with Trump in 93.7% of its cases (15 out of 16). The Supreme Court Is at War With Its Own Judiciary Supreme Court Must Explain Why It Keeps Ruling in Trump’s Favor
The "supreme court" doesn't need to meet over anything. They just have to know what trump wants and rule accordingly.
