Stuck in my head since I heard it on XM twice. This man created his own music subgenre in the second half of the 60s

And this! This song is an Anthem of Love. It never made #1 but Mr. Diamond said that it was his favorite creation. To me it is transcendent, an absolute masterpiece of music.
