How much or how little contact do you have now with your school friends?

Well, maybe you can nominate yourself to be reunion organizer...

 

I lost touch with absolutely all of my school friends when I moved away from my home town ( pre internet) However I returned for a visit a few years later and looked up a couple of mates. We went to a bar we used to go to but it had changed from a music venue to a stripper bar. Stayed for drinks anyway and to our collective shock/surprise a girl we knew from high school was one of the strippers.

 

All my friends now were my high school friends. We went to different schools tho, mostly.
I talk to maybe one other outside this group, super occasionally.

 

I posted before that I only keep in contact with my best friend from school, but this week I met up with a guy that I dated a couple of times in high school. It was absolutely amazing to find him in this very unusual location where I am right now, on vacation. He told me that he lives only about a mile from our old school. We've spent a lot of time in the past 3 days talking about school days and people and everything from almost 25 years ago.

 

As a kid, we moved a lot. By the time I got used to living in a new location, it was about time to move to a different place. My memories of grade school, high school are fuzzy at least, and diluted by the passage of time. The only names I remember are guys that I played sports with. The names of all the girls are lost from my brain.

 

Still keeping up with my old school friend (about 3 comments up), he spent the weekend before last with us. And he's a very horny guy! It's funny because when we dated twice in high school I let him grope my tits but nothing else, and now it's as if he's trying to make up for what I wouldn't give him in the car when we were 16. It's cool, great sex, very nice to be as I am now, 25 years later, with a sweet old high school friend.

 

Well, lucky him. Maybe for old time's sake, give it to him in the car....

 

That will certainly happen sometime soon. It's a must-do!

 

I am in good contact with them still,3 live out of state. Two are in process of organizing our 30th high school reunion in 2027 ahead of time. The original 2 that organized the previous ones originally were snobs I did not get along with.

 

I am sure it is going to be an unforgettable experience for both of you.

 

I was a bad influence...

I remember my life now. I didn't for years; I couldn't separate what was disingenuous from what was arguably less disingenuous... And it's complicated to explain that.

From 13 to about 16, two years and ten months of junior high school and then ninth grade, emotional growth was 24/7 the go-for-broke formula for life. It was an emotional roller coaster before it was ever an "emotional responsibility contest"! I was a student at a boarding school for troubled teens before I finally graduated (after a few tries) in 1995 and went home to my parents.

So what does that mean? There were exercises in emotional fluency. That meant micro-engineering the way each student and specific to their personal formula of emotional learning (angry person vs. drug person vs. girl...) to a heightened level of access to their emotional feelings, and their emotional learning, and emotional availability between students.

It was so powerful it's difficult to explain truly! No one has been through anything remotely similar!

The closest I can fathom to compare is watching a movie that totally and absolutely made you cry. There is nothing else that comes close!

Anyway, after that?

 

When I got out of emotional growth and I got out of boarding school and all the related programs within the family of services and system, the aftercare that was available was not set up.

I had a therapist but as I said no one had anything like that. No one could relate to that.

To use concise language, I was emotionally grown up but very young, and did not know how to relate to anyone in my own emotional growth terms - I could relate to them in their terms and in their world, but I didn't know a) how to share my love of emotional fluency or growth or its significance with them, and b) didn't know how to retain the things I had discovered. And these days it's staticky! I can use those tools but it's staticky without a mirror or some symbol; a reminder.

I ended up not treating people with respect. The people I knew in high school probably remember that I couldn't really communicate normally. I was a little bit loopy, or a cartoon and I didn't understand how to relate. And I was using - thankfully sober 20 years.

I've seen people but not often. The biggest threat is some people I know or knew are possibly struggling.

 

I have 6 buddies that we still do things together... 60 + but we still act like 3rd graders sometimes when not supervised by our spouses

 

truthfully im 18 ngl.I graduated highschool a year ago and i met my freinds a week ago at my house for a rave.They brought the strongest liqour i ever tasted.shout out to my boy tarrence.To answer the questoin we keep close.exept my freind max who recently passed due to an overdose R.I.P.

42 now.
Basically in touch with 2 high school classmates and see them once every few years. Reconnected with 1 middle school classmate, on occasion.
Then close with one person from college era, stay in touch with a few others.
Not a lot of people spanning the years. The most recent place I lived left me with the most enduring friends actually. Many more friends from adulthood than childhood.

 

So my three best friends from “pre-“ school age- and I am well into my 63rd year of life.

I spoke to one yesterday as follow up to a happy birthday message and phone tag from end of July….
2nd is flying into town on the 21st so we can sneak off and get drunk and laugh our asses off -
3rd, it’s been about a year so I am overdue for a call so I better take the initiative this weekend.

they all live hundreds of km away from me, each other, or where we grew up.
Completely different lives and directions as we all grew and aged tragedies, and victories all of us, But we made a pact that we would stay in touch and have stayed in touch. Unfortunately, Hundreds have come and gone at the same time for whatever reason. But the true homies are only a call away.
