Ironically the US is a very bad advertisement for the superiority of democracy over other forms of rule. There are plenty of other democratic countries that are imperfect but much better than the American Chaos and inequality.

It is a bit disturbing how Trump and co. are somewhat like Hitler and the fascists slow rise to absolute power - gradually usurping the former regime while pointing out scapegoats and fanning the flames of racist nationalism.

 

The Fins think its funny people claim they're the happiest. A quarter of academia's students still claim the sun revolves around the earth, so you have to take anything academia says about things like happiness, with a pound of salt. Especially, considering they have the lowest reproductive rates of any profession, are infamous for their workaholism and sexism, and have even been widely accused of promoting antisemitism again. Happiness just isn't their thing. Nor is humor.

As far as global warming is concerned, the UN has conceded there's nobody in charge around here. When everybody in the world is slowly killing themselves and each other, human rights lose all meaning. Even the NAACP no longer defends cases of censorship, so there's no proof whatsoever that the US has freedom of speech anymore. How'd you do on your graduate school entrance exam? I scored a 720 (out of 800) on the GMAT in 1991. It was in the 97% percentile. That was after my undergraduate degrees (plural) at an institution that accepts fewer than 8% of applicants (top 15 college). Then, I went to a top 5 masters program (earning two degrees) in my field. Or how about some career achievements? I've started several companies. I got one company public, we IPO'ed with a valuation of >$500 million (it went up to almost $2B). I started my most recent company several years ago. We're currently onboarding a new customer with a $25 million purchase (the first of many). I have helped create over 500 good paying jobs. I have created more minority millionaires than I can recall. I retired at 33...and was bored. So, I have been working ever since.

I have spent that last 40+ years with many of the smartest people in the USA and around the world. They are all smarter than me, but I have learned a great deal from then. There is little that I say and do publicly that isn't scrutinized by very smart people. I am quite comfortable knowing when I am right and when I am not.

You're probably one of those intellectual midgets who thinks we live in a democracy and cry "Democracy" all the time. We don't live in a "Democracy."
