Weekend Driving List: Here We Go

And because I love 50s rock....

 

Green River. One afternoon thirty-some years ago I was driving back to Texas from Alaska. An hour or so after I crossed the Green River, somewhere in the middle of Utah, that CCR song came on the radio. That few minutes stuck in my head like glue.

Try not to prejudge, this is a fun song (below) if you can get into it. Blame it on me spending too much time in San Antonio. And then Fort Worth.

Please note, everybody in this band is (or was) Mexican-American. No slurs intended whatsoever.



This is a story of a Texas boy on his first trip to México.

I’ve been to Green River Utah. Great scenery and great fishing! Thanks for the addition to the posts.

 

Being in the Air Force for 20 years I did a lot of driving across the country. This goes back to the 70s. Driving through the night was just plain magic. Getting those skips when I could hear WGN or WABC ("Cousin Brucie!") for just a few minutes here and there was off the freakin' hook. Real FM.

 

Cousin Brucie always played the best selection of hits. My dial was pretty much glued to WABC thru the 60s. I also liked Allison Steel, the night owl.
