Trump’s meeting with tax bill holdouts ‘moved ball in right direction’, says White House – as it happened excerpt: "Since the early days of his presidency, Donald Trump has made white farmers in South Africa one of his pet projects. It is an obsession that dates to his first term, where he amplified allegations by some Afrikaners that they are victims of “mass killings” and suffer from violence and discrimination by vengeful Black South Africans. There is nothing to support this claim. And yet, in March, Trump expelled the South African ambassador to the US, cut off aid and extended an invitation for political asylum to white farmers, even as the US all but halts all refugee admissions to the country. The first of those white South African “refugees” arrived in the US two weeks ago."
Trump rants about alleged white genocide in South Africa as its leader meets with him. Trump’s meeting with tax bill holdouts ‘moved ball in right direction’, says White House – as it happened excerpt: "Another day, another shocking Oval Office meeting between Trump and a world leader. This time it was South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa, who was ambushed by the US president; Trump requested dimmed lights for video footage to be played purporting to show anti-white violence in the country and relentlessly peddled false accusations of “genocide” and Afrikaners being “executed” as justification for admitting them into the US as refugees. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Trump then held up printouts of news articles about what he said were killings of white South Africans, repeating “death, death, death” as he flipped through the pages."
A post-election followup is needed for that pic showing once-smiling Trump fans now with glum looks on their faces after they were informed that Musk elminated the matching funds for their farm program for which they had taken out a $100,000 loan for the other half which is now useless without the federal money.
Carlson points out Trump's self-enrichment tour of Mideast. Tucker Carlson Admits It: Trump Reeks of Corruption excerpt: "Trump’s Middle East trip came with several announcements from his businesses in the region, as well as a $2 billion investment in his family’s cryptocurrency business from a firm backed by the United Arab Emirates government. But the worst of it was the “gift” of a $400 million luxury plane from Qatar to Trump, ostensibly to replace Air Force One, which drew criticism even from Republicans, such as Senator Rand Paul, Ben Shapiro, and Laura Loomer. Now it seems even Carlson has some misgivings about Trump’s dealings. Does this mean that there are cracks in Trump’s base, or will all of these personalities forget Trump’s corruption the next time he panders to them?"
Secretary of Defense Hegseth (the one who threw an axe on Fox, missed the bullseye target completely, and hit and seriously injured a military drummer) formally accepts 747 aircraft from Qatar to be used as new Air Force One even though it will have to be outfitted extensively for security reasons because it came from a foreign place. When Trump repeatedly made the 24-hour promise during the 2024 campaign, he said that he couldn't disclose how he would do it because it would spoil the surprise needed to stop the war. The surprise is that he now says he was being sarcastic about ending the war in 24 hours. He said this week that Putin's war on Ukraine isn't his problem.
Who could have thought the war in Ukraine was so complicated. Trump made the same remarks about healthcare during his first term after promising to overhaul it: 'Who could have imagined it would be so complicated?' After nine years, Americans are still waiting for him to deliver big, beautiful, high quality healthcare at low cost. American still won't give up on Trump.
Remark by a blogger: "People should be pleased with Trump because he officially changed the name of The Mexican Hat Dance to The American Hat Dance! - PROMISE KEPT!"
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/05/21/trump-gop-populism-megabill-00364187 excerpt: "President Donald Trump owes his Washington comeback to a patchwork coalition of billionaires who gather in the gilded halls of Mar-a-Lago, middle-class suburbanites fretting about their 401(k)s and working class voters toiling in casinos and steel mills. But the numbers inside Trump’s “big beautiful bill” are showing that for all the nods the GOP has made to its new populist base, its biggest policy swing remains weighted toward helping higher earners and businesses pay fewer taxes."
Tax breaks without specifying how they will be paid to try to curb the national debt which is currently about $36 trillion. Plus more military spending on Trump's Golden Dome program. Moody's downgraded the U.S. credit rating this week citing increasing debt.
The ultra-billionaires didn't just gather at Mar-a-Lago. All were standing behind Trump as he took the oath of office with his hand not on the Bible that Melania was holding near him (while wearing her Hamburglar hat).
Another vote in the House is planned on the budget reconciliation package. Four GOP holdouts stopped the previous attempt to pass it. Trump has a way of obtaining what he wants.
All of these personalities will forget Trump’s corruption the next time he panders to them. Even while they're flying on Qatar Force One.

Commentary: Trump can't make companies 'eat' his tariffs excerpt: "I'll be watching" sounds like a threat to use a variety of federal regulatory agencies to harass Walmart and any other company that calls out Trump's tariffs. Trump could probably do it, or at least try. After toymaker Mattel said it was raising prices because of the tariffs, Trump said, "We'll put a 100% tariff on his toys, and he won't sell one toy in the United States."
Commentary: Trump can't make companies 'eat' his tariffs excerpt: "That's not what Subaru said, however. The company cited "current market conditions" and said "the changes were made to offset increased costs." No mention of tariffs. Case closed. This is the formula many companies will use to justify raising their prices during the coming months as import costs rise by 10% to 30% because of the new taxes Trump has levied on basically all imported goods. Businesses won't blame tariffs by name. They certainly won't mention Trump. But they'll use wink-and-nod language to communicate what's going on, and most people will get it."
That doesn't work either. If companies don't say that tariffs are part of the reason for their price increases, Trump will accuse them of price gouging while saying that his tariffs don't cause price increases. If they do say it, then Trump will cripple them with harassment.
Target's problems escalating as a result of Trump's anti-DEI and tariff policies. https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/21/business/target-earnings-dei-tariffs excerpt: "The company said Wednesday that sales fell last quarter, driven in part by customer backlash to Target’s reversal on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs. Target also cut its guidance as President Donald Trump’s tariffs push up costs for the company. Target’s sales at stores open for at least a year tumbled 3.8% last quarter. Fewer customers visited Target and spent less when they shopped. Target also cut its financial outlook, a sign Target’s problems won’t go away quickly. The company expects sales to decline by low single-digits this year."
