Trump response to recent attacks offers ominous outlook for terror in next term

    excerpt:

“Facts don’t matter in the mind of an aggrieved bigot, whether it relates to they’re eating the dogs or eating the cats,” he said, referring to Trump’s notorious and unfounded allegation made about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, during last September’s presidential debate with Kamala Harris.

Trump Backers Battle Online Over Skilled Immigrants

    excerpt:

"The schism pits immigration hard-liners against many of the president-elect’s most prominent backers from the technology industry — among them Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, who helped back Mr. Trump’s election efforts with more than a quarter of a billion dollars, and David Sacks, a venture capitalist picked to be czar for artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency policy.

The tech industry has long relied on foreign skilled workers to help run its companies, a labor supply that critics say undercuts wages for American citizens."

It looks like a premonition of the condition of the Musk-Trump administration in the coming years that could become increasingly ugly.

Melania never did show up at Trump's civil trials for the Carroll cases, or Trump's NY hush money criminal trial, or Trump's federal criminal cases.

She was living in NY during the NY hush money trial and could have easily attended.

She wasn't with Trump when he was arrested and booked each time for all of his criminal cases.

As evidenced by her kiss and tell book that went on sale just before the November 2024 election to maximize revenue for her, what she did care about was the FBI searching through her room at Mar-a-Lago after Trump refused to return the government documents.

She cared when she felt that she was being violated. When it was something about Trump who thought he was being violated, she didn't show up in court to support him.

Trump pre-election: 'We're going to do it and do it fast.'

Trump post-election: 'It will be very difficult and may not happen.'

Democracy 2025: the lawyer leading ‘swift legal defenses’ against new Trump threat

    excerpt:

“What we know about the American people, and we’ve seen this since Dobbs … is that the vast majority do not support extremism. Places like Missouri, which is a red state, places like Florida, the majority of the voting public in those states voted to protect abortion rights on the ballot. In states like Louisiana, we saw climate initiatives.

“In poll after poll, among conservatives, among independents and among liberals, we saw that Project 2025 is really a lightning rod, and it was deeply unpopular, which is why [Trump] and his allies sought to distance themselves from it in the election.”

Democracy 2025: the lawyer leading ‘swift legal defenses’ against new Trump threat

    excerpt:

“But there were many things that the administration was doing that were a bit under the radar, but were nevertheless negatively impacting millions of Americans and in many instances were unlawful. So Democracy Forward was founded in response to that reality, the threats to people in the United States, but also [threats] to our rule of law and [to highlight] the overall way that the government was functioning in a different nature, of extreme and unlawful activity.”

Democracy Forward took the first Trump administration to court more than 100 times, over “things like the collection of information about individual voters through the Pence-Kobach voter [fraud] commission, the abrupt discontinuation of federal funding to cities and counties supporting bipartisan healthcare programs, such as the teen pregnancy prevention program … and things like rolling back nutritional standards for schoolchildren”.

    Oligarchy - Wikipedia

    excerpt:

"In 2014, a study by political scientists Martin Gilens of Princeton University and Benjamin Page of Northwestern University argued that the United States' political system does not primarily reflect the preferences of its average citizens. Their analysis of policy outcomes between 1981 and 2002 suggested that wealthy individuals and business groups held substantial influence over political decisions, often sidelining the majority of Americans.[30] While the United States maintains democratic features such as regular elections, freedom of speech, and widespread suffrage, the study noted that policy decisions are disproportionately influenced by economic elites.[31]

However, the study received criticism from other scholars, who argued that the influence of average citizens should not be discounted and that the conclusions about oligarchic tendencies were overstated.[32] Gilens and Page defended their research, reiterating that while they do not label the United States an outright oligarchy, they found substantial evidence of economic elites dominating certain areas of policy-making.[33] "

That was before Trump was reelected in 2024 and Musk started living at Mar-a-Lago and dictating the Trump clan that itself can be considered an oligarchy even without Musk.

There is less doubt now than ever about the extent to which the U.S. is an oligarchy.

Apologists will find yet another reason that the oligarchy is being overstated or doesn't even exist. Some still pretend Putin is a democratic leader of a democratic country with fair elections.

How Musk and Trump will fix the Chinese hacking problems remains to be seen.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/01/04/trump-american-crises-solutions-00196444

    excerpt:

Incoming Trump administration officials have gone into more detail on next steps. Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.), the incoming national security advisor, earlier this month called for China to face “higher costs and consequences” for the Salt Typhoon hacks, including the U.S. potentially going on offense against Beijing. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Trump’s pick for secretary of state, described the hack as “the most disturbing and widespread incursion into our telecommunications systems in the history of the world.”

Another Fox person for Trump's second term.

Trump selects Tammy Bruce of Fox to be spokesperson for the State Department.

Bruce’s online bios describe her as a former liberal activist who worked on Democratic campaigns before turning solidly to the right. The Los Angeles native has written a number of books, including the recent “Fear Itself: Exposing the Left’s Mind-Killing Agenda.”
