Why can you not legally be nude in public?

I've noticed that with a lot of primitive tribe the males tend to cover their genitals with things like penis gourds or animal skin but this has a practical purpose of protecting the genitals from abrasions and other injuries. The korubo tribe of South America don't hide a thing. So you could call the korubos the tribal nudists.

Bottom line is: Most of society is sadly brainwashed, shameful and fearful. And so the naked body, which so many believe was created by some God, never the less though of as obscene and incorrect... are we going to realy believe any God , or otherwise energy, would actualy creat anything that wasnt intended to be correct as a whole, as well as to be admired... People are their own worse enemy and basicly the reason for all things considered incorrect. Shame on those of the world who dare to pass judgment on anything or anyone at that. If society would only pull their heads out of their asses, they might actualy enjoy the sunshine, instead of pretending to.

Fearful is the man hiding in his cloth.... Powerful is the man who stands proud in his own skin. Mother Nature tells no lies

Those of us who prefer to wear clothes don't care to be called brainwashed, shameful or fearful any more than nudists like to be called disgusting, dirty or perverted.

If all you can do is insult and call names, you aren't much of a debater.

This thread seems to reek of anti-nudity, a bit disappointing. Society really needs to change. Fortunately I suppose that nudist are starting to gain more recognition and in this day and age they can more easily pass on their influence onto others.

One day, in the distant future, public nudity will be accepted. We are moving ahead with liberal standards. I can see in many places in Australia one day budgie smugglers will be discarded in favour of nudity; bikinis and tops will also be consigned to history. We live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, drenched with sun and good weather (in spring and summer), but stiffled by entrenched Victorian-era attitudes to the natural body. Those entrenched attitudes are what cause so many young people to have hang-ups about their body appearance when in reality, there is not a single thing wrong with them! It will happen, but probably not in my lifetime, even though I'm patient and hopeful...

My best friend and I have gone on various nude in public adventures. So far, the few times we have been confronted by the police, they've just told us to put some clothes on. We would, and they've left us alone. But we never do anything like sexual or like that. We just do normal stuff, only we're naked.

If the powers that be allowed public nudity, what would be the outcome? I would predict nothing unusual. Getting an all over tan in a public park. Some people doing yard work nude. Some nudity in public pools. After a few summers of this(Canada), the activity would seem normal. Personally, i think it would make Canada a better place to live.

When everyone is special i.e. nude, no one is special.

I live in the uk and the law says you can be nude in public , but , try it and it doesn't work in practice they get you by using other laws like "outraging public decency" disturbing the peace " or some other law so I would not advise people try it . If you are going to get naked outdoors find some where quiet where your less likely to upset anyone .

In Spain and England you can.

Under the Spanish constitution anything that is not prohibited is permitted, and in the UK as long as you are not sexually overt, simply being naked it totally legal.

This is sad because in Canada, nudity of just about any kind is explicitly outlawed. People have even been fined and arrested for being topless on their own property. It dates back to a political protest movement a century ago when a bunch of people got naked to protest conscription for world war 1.

    Canada isn't very freedom-loving unfortunately.

I find it funny that simple nudity it’s illegal but it’s okay to carry a firearm. I have never heard of anyone dying from seeing someone naked, but I have seen people carrying a firearm and use it in a fit of rage.
