The planet is on course this year for being 1.5 C hotter than pre-industrial era for the first time, the warmest on record.

Trump will probably say that he saw a giant sun shade out in space that can be easily oriented to keep the earth from overheating. Perhaps it was the solar eclipse that he was staring at naked-eye for minutes at the White House in 2017. The earth will be brimming with big beautiful shade for everyone while allowing people to spew as much green houses gases as they want.

Trump makes Stefanik Ambassador to UN.

She has very high loyalty to Trump and almost no foreign policy experience.

Trump chooses New York Rep. Elise Stefanik as ambassador to United Nations

    excerpt:

"Stefanik was known early in her tenure as a more moderate conservative voice. But she soon attached herself to the former president, quietly remaking her image into that of a staunch MAGA ally — and seeing her power ascend."

Moreno is in a fantasy land.

Moreno won the U.S. Senate seat in Ohio in 2024.

Car dealer who will be US Senator says he and Trump want to overhaul car industry

    excerpt:

"The minute that China thinks they can come here with their cheap, fully electric garbage cars … they’re sadly mistaken. These cars will come in here with dramatically high tariffs that will make those cars unsellable," Moreno said. "We’re not going to be suckers anymore. We’re going to protect American workers and American jobs.”

Industry watchers have praised the quality of cars and their advanced battery technology produced by China's BYD, which late last year briefly slipped ahead of Tesla in global EV sales.

Democrats' working-class exodus sets off reckoning within party

    excerpt:

"What's more, Trump won 50%-46% among voters whose income is less than $100,000, a staggering turnaround from Biden's 56%-43% advantage with this group in 2020. Meanwhile, Harris won voters who earn $100,000 or more 51%-46% over Trump, who in 2020 topped this more affluent group of voters 54%-42% over Biden.

The realignment crystalized a political reality that's tough for Democrats to swallow: With blue-collar voters flocking away from their party over multiple election cycles, Democrats' refashioned base is becoming more upper-class, urban/suburban and coastal. It's a narrowed coalition that does not bode well for future elections."

Trump picked up some of the working class income people that Biden had in 2020, while Harris picked up some of the more affluent voters Trump had in 2016.

Overall, Trump picked up more than Harris.

Democrats' working-class exodus sets off reckoning within party

    excerpt:

"The shift of many working-class voters away from Democrats helped produce Republicans' first popular vote victory in 20 years. Trump gained ground from his 2020 performance in 49 states, while a New York Times analysis found Trump improved on his 2020 margin in at least 2,367 counties and decreased in only 240 counties."

Democrats' working-class exodus sets off reckoning within party

    excerpt:

"Torres pointed to the results in heavily Latino Starr County, Texas, a southern border community that Trump won with 58% of the vote − ending 132 years Democratic vote support. Trump came within 6 percentage points of winning Democratic-stronghold New Jersey, he noted, and lost New York by only 12 points, slicing in half his 24-point 2020 defeat in New York."

Trump stated this week that Nikki Haley won't have a cabinet-level position in his second term.

How Florida became the center of the Republican universe.

How Florida became the center of the Republican universe

    excerpt:

"Republicans control every partisan statewide office. The last time the state had a Democratic governor was in the 1990s. The closest Democrats have since come to winning the governorship was in 2018, when then-Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum narrowly lost to DeSantis, a then-little-known Congress member who arguably rode Trump’s endorsement to victory. Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist didn’t become a Democrat until 2012, after he left office, and lost by nearly 20 points to DeSantis when he sought a second term in 2022.

A favorable new electoral map from the 2020 redistricting cycle has further cemented Republican power in the state. In the new map, a key metric of partisan gerrymandering went from an approximately 5-point to more than 20-point Republican advantage. That metric, the efficiency gap, captures the difference in the shares of each party’s votes “wasted” — votes cast for candidates who lost or excess votes cast for a winning candidate."
