Susan Collins never learns her lesson that Trump never learns his lesson. EDITORIAL: Fearlessness of exactly the wrong kind from Sen. Susan Collins excerpt: "In this case the opposite has happened. Collins chose to promptly join in the chorus of voices castigating the outcome without care for the consequences, attacking it in imprecise, broad-brush terms like "political underpinnings" and focusing on her interpretation of an individual district attorney rather than on the mechanics of the trial, the scope of the allegations and the evidence, or the concept of equal justice under the law."
Three men from PA arrested in connection to Capitol riot. 3 more men arrested in York for being in Capitol during Jan. 6 riots excerpt: "Federal agents have arrested three more men from central Pa. they say participated in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building in 2021. The FBI arrested Tyler Henson, Stephen Oseen, and Jamie Charlesworth in York on May 30 on a common set of charges for January 6 defendants:"

MO Marine veteran, Todd, has been sentenced to five years in prison for injuring police officer at Capitol riot. Todd claimed that the injuries that police officer Rathbun sustained were self-inflicted. Man who injured police officer during Capitol riot is sentenced to 5 years in prison
That looks like a humorous spoof article by someone like Andy Borowitz of the New Yorker, but it isn't.
Chris Christie's prediction was correct. Haley, Christie stay quiet on Trump guilty verdict as GOP outrage grows over 'un-American' silence excerpt: "Christie spoke extensively on the campaign trail while running in the Republican presidential primaries about Trump's legal woes, even predicting he would be a "convicted felon" when accepting the GOP nomination at the Republican National Convention in July."
Trump supporter, Stefanik, loses in court. She tried to run interference for Trump in his civil fraud suit by claiming Judge Engoraon was biased. New York Tosses Stefanik’s Trump Court Complaint excerpt: "A long-shot MAGA political stunt to personally interfere with the judge who ultimately found Donald Trump liable for bank fraud fizzled out quietly months ago, according to a state document marked “confidential” obtained by The Daily Beast. New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur F. Engoron and his law clerk, Allison Greenfield, were cleared by a state commission of allegations of “inappropriate bias and judicial intemperance.”"
What comes next in Trump's legally perilous path through 2024 excerpt: "The high court is expected to rule by the end of the month on whether Trump’s immunity from prosecution as president extended to his actions after the 2020 election. The argument pertains to the case in Georgia. His lawyers argue Trump can’t be prosecuted for trying to subvert the 2020 presidential election because the events at issue were official actions as president — rather than private actions. If the high court rules in Trump's favor, the ruling could prevent the Georgia case from going forward. It could also halt the other two criminal cases pending against him."
Leaks are saying Bergum, Vance, and Rubio are finalists in Trump's VP list. Trump likely wants someone as conservative as Pence in both physical appearance and political idealogy but someone with utter, undying, 100% loyalty and obedience to him. Bergum and Vance seem more likely than Rubio whom Trump has mocked repeatedly in the past and who has run against him. Burgum is from North Dakota. Rubio is from FL which doesn't give Trump any additional geographical appeal for the rest of the country. Vance is in Ohio, which would give Trump some appeal to the Great Lakes states which are critical swing states. Vance is also as fringe as Trump. Tim Scott seems almost too goofy and slaphappy, even for Trump. Scott might give Trump some traction in nearby Virginia which some polls are showing to be moving toward Trump and becoming a contender state in the 2024 election. Trump picking a minority such as a female or African-American seems less likely now. Trump said Haley is not on his list. Other women like Stefanik from NY are possible but probably remote.
Pre-sentence investigation of Trump. Trump must 'immediately' schedule a pre-sentence interview with NYC probation. Playing hooky may add to his legal woes. excerpt: "But Trump won't do a penitent probation interview — or any at all, Kuby predicted. "There's no benefit for him," he said. "If he wants to show remorse, then certainly the probation report is a good place to start doing that," he added. "But Donald Trump has not shown remorse and insists everybody else are the wrongdoers." Still, by not cooperating, Trump would lose his chance to plead his case for leniency and run the very high risk of angering the judge. Merchan would see it as Trump's latest nose-thumb at the criminal justice system, said Angel Rodriguez, founder of Avenues for Justice, a program that advocates for young people facing incarceration. Rodriguez said he has helped thousands of clients through the pre-sentencing process. "It would piss the judge off to no end," Rodriguez predicted of Trump failing to submit to a pre-sentencing investigation, especially given his history of gag order violations and disruptive courtroom behavior."
Trump must 'immediately' schedule a pre-sentence interview with NYC probation. Playing hooky may add to his legal woes. excerpt: During the rest of the interview, Trump would be offered the chance to speak about his conviction and make a plea for leniency. "It's perfectly fine to say the matter is on appeal, and I maintain my innocence," Florence said. "What's not fine is to say the judge is corrupt and the jury is corrupt, and the witnesses must die," she joked.
Speaker Mike Johnson has added Scott Perry to the House Intelligence Committee. Perry's phone was seized by the FBI as part of the investigation of Trump trying to overthrow the 2020 election. Perry lost his appeal against the FBI in federal court. Perry will now have oversight over the FBI that has been investigating him. Speaker Johnson appoints two Trump allies to a committee that handles classified intelligence
Johnson also added Ronny Jackson to the House Intelligence Committee. Jackson is Trump's former physician who said Trump could live to be 200 years old if he curtailed his fast food intake. Jackson withdrew his nomination by Trump to head the Veterans Administration
Trump's plans for a second term. Not mentioned in the article: Trump pardoning his rioters Trump’s Most Unhinged Plans for His Second Term excerpt: "Let states monitor pregnancies and prosecute women who get abortions Give the president unchecked power over federal agencies Restore the president’s authority to bypass Congress Appoint a special prosecutor to ‘go after’ Biden Purge the civil service Install thousands of loyalists throughout the federal government Fill his Cabinet with people like Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon Deploy U.S troops for ‘war’ on southern border End birthright citizenship Reinterpret anti-racism protections to benefit white people Construct ‘Freedom Cities’ Put flying cars in Americans’ driveways"
Cannon is bending over backward for Trump again. She's allowing outsiders who filed an amicus to come right into the courtroom while she entertains whether Jack Smith was appointed illegally, which itself is a far-fetched claim. https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/04/politics/cannon-trump-special-counsel-hearing/index.html excerpt: "The calendar shuffling is the latest example of Cannon’s approach so far to the national security case: scheduling hours in court for arguments that other courts have mostly denied, and pushing off resolution of various legal matters for months."
Republicans change their mind about felons running for president. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...lip-flopped-fast-questions-about-trump-crime/ excerpt: "A new poll follows a string of examples. It shows the percentage of Republicans who say a felon shouldn’t be president dropping from 58 percent in April to just 23 percent today.:
Yahoo is part of the Yahoo family of brands excerpt: "Days before the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump said that someone involved in a federal investigation should be disqualified from the presidency, to avoid creating a "constitutional crisis." Trump is now convicted of 34 felony counts for hiding an unlawful scheme to corrupt that election, remains under felony indictment in three other cases, and is continuing to campaign for another term in the White House."
