In Immunity Case, Trump Can Lose in Ways That Amount to a Win excerpt: "In a concurring opinion, two of Mr. Trump’s appointees — Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh, joined by Justice Neil M. Gorsuch — summarized the court’s mixed message this way: “The court today unanimously concludes that a president does not possess absolute immunity from a state criminal subpoena, but also unanimously agrees that this case should be remanded to the district court, where the president may raise constitutional and legal objections to the subpoena as appropriate.” That turned out to be a good way to lose. The case kicked around for more than six months before returning to the Supreme Court in February 2021, when the justices issued a final ruling against Mr. Trump — months after the election. In the case it will hear on Thursday, the Supreme Court could easily follow that approach, ruling against Mr. Trump but ordering lower courts to address other issues. Indeed, if the court is inclined to let judicial history repeat itself, the sentence from Justice Kavanaugh’s 2020 concurrence would need only a very light edit."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...rtrait-his-golf-resort-wall-his-adviser-says/ excerpt: "Epshteyn's explanation was, in effect, that Trump hadn't used his foundation to buy his resort some art. Instead, Trump's resort was helping the foundation — which has no employees or office space of its own — find a place to store its possessions. Tax experts were not impressed by this reasoning. "It's hard to make an IRS auditor laugh," Brett Kappel, a lawyer who advises nonprofit groups at the Akerman firm, said in an email. "But this would do it." Experts said that the Internal Revenue Service had actually ruled on a similar issue in 1974, in a case where a major donor to a private foundation took paintings belonging to that foundation and hung them in his home. (The rules against "self-dealing" apply to both major donors and to foundation officers, like Trump.) The IRS determined that this was, indeed, self-dealing — because the homeowner was using the foundation's assets to benefit himself."
Epsheteyn was indicted in AZ yesterday in connection to Trump's scheme to steal the 2020 election from Biden.

Opinion: Truth takes its revenge on Trump and his team excerpt: "Worse yet, the lies worked. They penetrated the national psyche, cast doubt on truthtellers, helped polarize the nation, weaving an alternate reality and undercutting American democracy. Incredibly, most Republicans believe former President Donald Trump’s most pernicious lie, that he won the 2020 election. It seemed as if a cosmic law was being violated. Lies, denial of reality, weren’t supposed to succeed with such ease."
Trump promised big plans to flip Black and Latino voters. Many Republicans are waiting to see them “To be quite honest, the Republican Party does not have a cohesive engagement plan for Black communities,” said Darrell Scott, a Black pastor and longtime Trump ally who co-founded the National Diversity Coalition for Trump in 2016.
Sure it does. Trump can be expected to continue to visit deep-fried chicken restaurants in NY when he's on break from his criminal trial and do photo-ops with African-American pairs who look like they are auditioning to be the next Diamond and Silk. image:
A jackass bill authored in the House by Steve King that went nowhere. Diamond and Silk - Wikipedia excerpt: "Diamond and Silk Act of 2019 In June 2019, House Representative Steve King joined with Diamond and Silk to introduce the Diamond and Silk Act, an anti–sanctuary city bill.[36][37][38] When Diamond and Silk were asked what they thought of King retweeting white supremacists, Hardaway responded, "I'm tired of you all playing the race card."[38] The bill failed to pass the House vote and garnered backlash from both left and right-wing media. The conservative news magazine Washington Examiner criticized King for mocking homelessness and veteran's issues with the bill,[39] and described the Diamond and Silk Act of 2019 as being "named for a clownish YouTube duo who have leveraged their online popularity into regular appearances on Fox News".[40] "
Donald Trump again is trying to bend the Supreme Court and justice system to his will excerpt: "In March, Trump won a high court decision reversing a Colorado ruling that said an anti-insurrectionist provision of the Constitution should keep him off the ballot. As he spoke then from his home in Florida, Trump was already looking ahead, calling for the justices to side with him on immunity as well. He has continued the drumbeat, and on Sunday posted 10 times on Truth Social about presidential immunity. “Of course I was entitled, as President of the United States and Commander in Chief, to Immunity,” he wrote in one post. “I wasn’t campaigning, the Election was long over. I was looking for voter fraud, and finding it, which is my obligation to do, and otherwise running our Country. …”"
John Eastman was a clerk for Clarence Thomas. Eastman has been indicted in GA and AZ for trying to steal the 2020 election from Biden. Justice Clarence Thomas chooses not to recuse himself from another January 6-related case excerpt: "Thomas, too, has occasionally recused himself from a case. In one notable example last fall, he said that he did not participate in the court’s consideration of an appeal brought by former Trump attorney John Eastman in a January 6-related case. Though he did not explain the reasoning for his recusal in that matter, Eastman is one of Thomas’ former clerks. Thomas’ recusal in that case remains the only time he sat out of a January 6 case before the high court."
When warned about possible criminal charges, Trump's associates in AZ scoffed and said, "Fuck these guys." 'The Signing' comes back to haunt Arizona fake electors, close Trump allies in indictment excerpt: The indictment of 11 fake electors, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and several current or former Trump campaign lawyers in Arizona capped off a day Wednesday where former President Donald Trump was identified in two separate cases as an unindicted co-conspirator. The Arizona indictment, charging a slew of felonies, shows that weeks after the 2020 election, concerns about “legal exposure” were raised by Pennsylvania lawyers but were scoffed at by a Trump ally who remarked “f— these guys.”
Trump claims immunity from everything he did as president. That raises the question as to why the Constitution bothered to provide a way for Congress to remove a president from office for high crimes and misdemeanors. If a president is immune from all of that, why bother establishing a way for him to be removed from office for it. It also raises the question of why Ford bothered to pardon Nixon after the Watergate scandal.
Barr had said Trump was unfit for office and shouldn't be anywhere near the White House. Barr is now saying Biden is unfit and he's voting for Trump. Barr, who said Trump shouldn’t be near Oval Office, says he will vote for him in 2024
Barr was directly on the receiving end of Trump's desire to steal Biden's win without evidence that the election was fraudulent. Trump wanted Barr to make false statements to the country that the election was stolen from Trump. That sounds like an abuse of power, but Barr says he is still skeptical. He's willing to give Trump the benefit of his doubt and support him all over again. Even Mike Pence didn't go that far.
