Instead of condemning the violence at the Capitol, Trump made it sound like it was justified because it is simply a reaction to what he perceives as an election that was stolen from him.

He told his violent followers to go home in peace and love and remember the violence of that day forever.

Trump says election was 'stolen' and 'these are the things and events that happen' tells people to 'go home'

    excerpt:

"The president went on to say that it is a "very tough period of time—there has never been a time like this where such a thing happened, where they could take it away from all of us— from me, from you, from our country."

"This was a fraudulent election, but we can’t play into the hands of these people," Trump said. "We have to have peace."

Trump added: "So go home, we love you, you're very special, you’ve seen what happens, you’ve seen the way others are treated that are so bad, so evil. I know how you feel.""

Up next for Trump: I'm endorsing whats-his-name in whatever state we're in now. He's going to win big like the other you-know-who I endorsed a couple years ago in whatever state.

Another rioter Trump refers to as a 'hostage'.

Trump should have these 'hostages' at the photo-ops he's been doing with the police on his campaign trail.

Prosecutors: A 'network' of supporters helped fugitives avoid capture after Capitol riot

    excerpt:

"Osborne harbored a Jan. 6 defendant, Christopher Worrell, who disappeared last year after he was convicted of assaulting police with pepper spray during the Capitol riot, prosecutors said. They believe Worrell, a member of the Proud Boys extremist group, lived at Osborne’s home in Lakeland, Florida, for roughly six weeks while on the run.

Prosecutors also cited Osborne’s ties to the family of Jonathan Pollock and Olivia Pollock — a brother and sister from Lakeland who were declared fugitives after getting charged with Capitol riot-related crimes. Osborne traveled to Washington, D.C., with the Pollocks and their parents to attend then-President Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally near the White House on Jan. 6."

Bank robbers can say the money became their property the moment they exited the bank with it, just like Trump says the government property became his the moment he exited the White House.

Judge Cannon in FL would probably fully entertain the notion and drag out the case of the bank robbers for months. She would also tell prosecutors to write a letter to the jurors (who haven't been selected yet for a trial that hasn't even been scheduled) instructing them why they should acquit the bank robbers based on statute that was meant to protect banks from robbers but interpreting it in a faulty manner so that it's perceived to protect the bank robbers from the banks.

Eastman, what a shit bag. Who would believe that our legislators would need such defensive legal representation?

Lake, Navarro, Eastman, McDaniel, Giuliani, Stone, Manafort, Flynn, Bannon. Trump is a fountain that spews those types of people.

Trump's former trade official, Navarro, is currently in prison.

A judge has temporarily allowed Giuliani to live in his FL home but warns that the worst is yet to come for him as creditors descend on him. Giuliani lost a $148 defamation case that was filed against him by Ruby Freeman who Giuliani claimed committed election fraud in GA.

Trump has been using the Clinton socks case as the basis for claiming he can take whatever records he wants out of the White House and declare it his property.

it's good banter at his rallies where his supporters are not concerned with facts. It's useless in court, with the exception of Judge Cannon in FL who is entertaining such conflations on behalf of Trump.

An article that details how Trump is conflating the Clinton socks case with his criminal court case.

Clinton’s sock drawer case not equal to Trump documents case

    excerpt:

"They also don't mention the defining lawsuit brought against Bill Clinton," he told a Columbus, Georgia, crowd June 10, "and it was lost by the government — the famous socks case that says he can keep his documents. They don't mention that. These are minor details. And that’s the ruling law."

    Trump is wrong again.

The Clinton socks case wasn't lost by the government. It was lost by Judicial Watch, a conservative group that sued the National Archives for Clinton's personal property. .

In spite of what Trump said, there isn't a 'ruling law' related to the Clinton socks case.

Trump wants to think a ruling by Jackson in the socks case that stated Clinton's personal tapes were personal somehow confers power to him to take any government property he wants, declare it to be his own personal property, and be insulated from laws such as the Espionage Act.. ..

Clinton’s sock drawer case not equal to Trump documents case

    excerpt:

"The court concluded that the Presidential Records Act did not give the judiciary that authority to require that of the Archivist," Moss said in an email to PolitiFact. "This alternate dimension Mr. Trump thinks exists because of the case in which he can do whatever he wants with records from his presidency insulated from other statutory provisions like the Espionage Act is the stuff of lunacy."

Trump thinks he's protected by the Presidential Records Act that he violated.

The Presidential Records Act, Clinton's Socks, and Trump's Boxes

    excerpt:

"Furthermore, Trump is both trying to use the PRA as a shield and essentially claiming to have violated it. Classified documents are obviously not “personal records.” And indeed there is no evidence that, while president, he actually categorized classified documents as personal records. Finally, the indictment strongly suggests that most—and possibly all—of the documents in question were actually agency records, prepared by agencies and at some point shown to the president, which are governed by the Federal Records Act, not the PRA."

Years after it fought for Clinton's personal recordings, Judcial Watch reportedly put the faulty notion in Trump's mind that he was protected by the PRA.

The Presidential Records Act, Clinton's Socks, and Trump's Boxes

    excerpt:

"It appears that Trump is attached to this bizarre reading of the PRA almost as much as he is to his beloved boxes. CNN has reported that the idea has been rattling in his head since February 2022, when the head of Judicial Watch, Tom Fitton, contacted Trump shortly after the Archives confirmed a Washington Post report that Trump had returned 15 boxes. Fitton reportedly told Trump about the Clinton case and suggested that he need not return anything because the Archives had no means of obtaining them over his objections."

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/nati...on-trump-jack-smith-presidential-records-act/

    excerpt:

"Trump’s defense team argued that the Presidential Records Act (PRA) took priority over the Espionage Act when it came to highly classified documents that went to his private residence in Florida after his presidency. On Thursday, Cannon shot down that argument, saying the PRA “does not provide a pre-trial basis to dismiss” either the mishandling charges or the related obstruction charges against Trump."

In spite of declining to dismiss the criminal case based on Trump's claim about the PRA supposedly exonerating him, Cannon has left the PRA issue on the back burner, potentially all the way through the trial whose start date is yet to be determined.

'Fall-on-his-sword MAGA loyalist' is a succinct term.

It's still profound that so many people who once had reputable careers and a sense of ethics could be so thoroughly corrupted by Trump.

"The four-month jail hitch is just the latest adornment on Navarro’s unusual career path from environmentalist San Diego mayoral candidate and Democratic congressional hopeful to fall-on-his-sword MAGA loyalist."
