Bill Maher panics over Trump's gain with young voters: Biden might lose 'because hot dogs cost more' excerpt: "What is it with this guy? Always gaining with the people he's supposed to be losing," Maher complained on Friday during a panel discussion. "Now he is up five points among 18 to 29!… 65% of Gen Zers say that they believe Trump would shake up the country for the better. See, this is the problem. It's that there are two kinds of voters: voters who know things and voters who just go by feelings."
Former Trump attorney, Cohen, says Truth Social is not worth anything. 'It's not worth anything': Former Trump lawyer blows a hole in 'hype' over Truth Social excerpt: "They are trying to hype up the stock the same way they would do it for Trump Mortgage, Trump University, Trump Vodka, Trump Steaks, Trump this or Trump that — it's not worth anything " he added. "There is no profitability and there is no future in sight for that profitability either. I mean, who wants to go on to Truth Social? It is nonsense and I do not think that anybody is going to take this -- the stock as an advance for cash."
Instruction to a jury without a trial date. 'Three strikes': Ex-prosecutor wants Cannon removed from Trump case over 'unusual' filings excerpt: "Nothing in the Presidential Records Act authorizes a former president to possess classified information. You have this terrible proposed jury instruction to completely confuse the jury. You have her ruling to unseal the identities of witnesses. That's another terrible ruling. You have her refusal to dismiss outright a challenge that the Espionage Act is fake which it isn't. Donald Trump was told repeatedly he could not keep classified documents. You have three strikes in the last two months. Jack Smith really needs to file a motion for mandamus which is an extraordinary remedy. And he needs to file a motion for recusal. At this point it has gotten that bad."
Trump stares down first derailment of his campaign-to-courthouse strategy | CNN Politics excerpt: “I think the whole thing is bullsh*t,” one House Republican, who communicates with Trump’s team said of the order to secure the $464 million bond while waiting for a decision on his appeal. “But it had gotten to the point where it seemed like nothing will ever stick to him, so this has been different.” In other words, there may be actual consequences. Over nearly a year, as four indictments and 88 charges piled on, Trump’s poll numbers in the GOP primary tracked a steady climb.

Trump Will Face His Greatest Fears as Two Legal Threats Coincide Monday excerpt: "For decades, Mr. Trump employed a broad array of tactics to keep those fears at bay, learning from his well-connected father and his own ruthless lawyer and fixer, Roy M. Cohn. After fending off local and federal investigations, not to mention financial ruin, Mr. Trump came to believe that any problems could be solved by personal connections — and a whole lot of money. “If Trump uses one thing to score the game, it has always been money,” said Jack O’Donnell, a former casino executive who worked for Mr. Trump in the early 1990s and wrote a tell-all book about him. “If he has more money than someone, he is winning and the other person is losing. And if someone has more money than Trump, he has the fear that someone will say he is losing to that person.”"

Trump's been using a scheme of MAGA Inc. to bail out Save America. MAGA Inc. can raise an unlimited amount of money. Save America is supposed to be used for campaign-related expenses. Trump's Truth Social is losing money and has scant sales. Yet it could trade at a $5 billion value. excerpt: "Typically, investors put their money into companies they believe will provide solid returns for their investment, though time-honored fundamentals such as profit and revenue growth, dividends and share appreciation. But Trump Media's main business, Truth Social, is a social media platform that is lagging rivals such as Facebook and "X" (formerly Twitter), with scant revenue and mounting losses, according to regulatory filings. That hasn't fazed investors in DWAC, some of whom appear to be supporters of Trump, who are touting the stock on Truth Social. "I am holding and not selling! I believe in TRUTH and MAGA," one member of a Truth Social group focused on the DWAC stock posted on Friday morning. Typically, a company with the financial profile of Trump Media & Technology Group would be hard-pressed to reach a valuation of $5 billion, but the stock does not appear to be trading on traditional financial mileposts like revenue and profit, said Kristi Marvin, chief executive of SPACInsider.com. "This has never traded on fundamentals, and I don't expect it to, going forward," Marvin told CBS MoneyWatch. "This is almost like a barometer for Trump and how he's doing in the election." The majority of the DWAC shareholders are retail investors, meaning they are individual investors rather than institutional, Marvin noted. Essentially, she added, DWAC, as well as its next iteration as Trump Media, is a "retail meme stock.""

In win for Trump, appeals court lowers his bond to $175M in civil fraud case excerpt: "I mean I became president because of the brand, OK? I became president. I think it's the hottest brand in the world," Trump told the attorney general's office during a deposition last year.
The charges against Trump weren't about violating the PRA but rather Title 18 of U.S.C., part of which pertains to the Espionage Act. The PRA is addressed in Title 44. Trump's 91 criminal charges and where they stand - CREW | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington excerpt: Willful Retention of National Defense Information (18 U.S.C. § 793(e)); Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice (18 U.S.C. §1512(k)); Withholding a Document or Record (18 U.S.C. §§ 1512(b)(2)(A), 2); Corruptly Concealing a Document or Record (18 U.S.C. §§ 1512(c)(1), 2); Concealing a Document in a Federal Investigation (18 U.S.C. §§ 1519, 2); Scheme to Conceal (18 U.S.C. §§ 1001(a)(1), 2); False Statements and Representations (18 U.S.C. §§ 1001(a)(2), 2).
Trump has an uncanny way of wriggling out of problems. He did it again on Monday with a court lowering his bond by about 60% in the civil fraud case so that he can better afford what he had already said he could afford when he claimed he had $500 million ready to pay (but didn't want to spend it that way). The judge also gave Trump an extra ten days to pay it. He won both ways on that issue, having a judge lower the bond to save his (over-valued) properties while protecting his ego by claiming he could afford about 2.5 times as much (a money claim based in part on his over-valued properties which is what caused the NY civil fraud trial in the first place). Not to mention 'winning' two golf tournaments on the weekend of the judge's favorable decision to further boost his inflated ego. Trump was golfing Sunday the day before the judge's decision. It looks like he won't wriggle out of the hush money criminal trial which is now set to start April 15. He can hope to be acquitted. If not, he will simply say a conviction is a persecution of him. He can continue to delay the other three criminal cases until after the November election. The documents case in FL has been easy for him with Judge Cannon pandering to him in ways that make it difficult for Jack Smith to object in court. Trump has yet to criticize her about anything. Attorneys on both sides nearly agreed on a July or August trial, yet Cannon hasn't stated a trial date but at the same time has given both sides instructions to say to a jury pertaining to acquitting him.
Judge Merchan reprimanded Trump on Monday for making baseless accusations to try to further delay the hush money trial. Takeaways from Donald Trump’s wild day of legal developments | CNN Politics excerpt: “You are literally accusing the Manhattan DA’s office and the people assigned to this case of prosecutorial misconduct and of trying to make me complicit in it and you don’t have a single cite to support that position?” Merchan said.
