In the beginning of June 2023 at a town hall event, Trump denied knowing about the summer 2021 meeting with writers for Meadows' book when he apparently showed a classified Pentagon document to unauthorized people.

That was before a recording of the incident was leaked.

Trump has since not denied what he said on the recording. He hasn't claimed the recording is a fake.

He's made various excuses to try to downplay the incident, such as it might have been plans for a golf course.

Paxton is another potential high level official for a second Trump administration, even more so if he is run out of state office and has nowhere else to go.

Paxton tried to help Trump overthrow the 2020 election by filing a lawsuit with the U.S. Supreme Court claiming TX was damaged by the election systems in swing states Trump had lost.
