Sure, we have an out of control gun culture. I truly believe many of the gun owners in our society have mental problems. Paranoia, hero syndromes, victim complexes, narcissiststs, not to mention those who want to shoot government personal and overthrow said government. Civil war? Because these sick people prioritize guns over kindergartners, teachers, priests and rabbis, etc.? I say bring it on. I'm pretty old, and mostly over the hill, but I'll fight anyone who would rather see a 4 year old shot in the head than give up their gun. Even if it kills me. (I like to think so anyway.)
Not living in fear and for not carrying all sorts of guns around. Just one little tool, that I might need in a pinch. Only difference between the two of us is for you not wanting to carry any of these tools. Hell, I know people that don't even own a hammer and for having to call on someone else, when they need one. Again, the cops are only minutes away, when just seconds count. But don't get me completely wrong and I've already outlined my gun control proposal for you above. And do keep in mind that these proposals of yours.... "Nothing needs to be grandfathered. Buy back the guns or order them to be turned in and destroyed under penalty of law. No need for warrants or door to door searches. You get caught with an illegal gun, you go to jail, period", have not a snowball's chance in hell for ever getting passed, so your cure, is the same as no cure and for doing nothing. Hell, and I thought I was being too radical for not leaving a stone unturned!
You carry a gun with you everywhere you go? You need a crutch to hide your fear of going out in public, yet you aren't afraid? How's that work? If you don't think you'll need a gun, because you fear someone might harm you, why do you carry a gun? I agree that more restrictive gun laws don't stand a chance of getting passed at the present time. That doesn't mean my proposals aren't valid or logical, it means we live in a sick society were people feel the need to carry guns around with them as they believe they need guns to ease their fear of other people. Those in power today, not the majority of citizens by the way, worship guns as the only answer to the mental problems they are experiencing. As such, I agree, no logical legislation can ever emerge from sick minds.
Not in fear either way. Just another tool to have on hand in case I need it and for protecting you as well. Do you have any idea how many CC permits have been issued? And now it's to the point that people are a little more cautious about creating confrontations with this in the back of their minds. I mean you don't know who's carrying and who isn't and if they might be of the trigger happy sort. Having said all this, you're welcome to leave yours at home, if you indeed have one, as I don't really care. In the meantime, I'm just as legal as you are, so live and let live.
Pretty simple, you might have things to give you an edge, doesn't mean it guarantees you'll make the cut but for some folks it beats whistling Dixie. To be specific, having a firearm is obviously NOT some sort of magical shield but it beats being bare-assed entirely...
Not in fear because you go out in public with a gun as you fear going out in public without one. The gun is the tool you use to control your fear of others. The gun is the tool at hand for easing paranoia, the fear of victimization, and the perceived need to protect others (hero syndrome). Many concealed carry permits issued? Many paranoid people. Yes, as more concealed carry permits are issued and more guns are carried around, the more people fear each other. No solution at all, just adding to the problem. Now if someone thinks I offended them in some way I have to worry that they will pull out a gun and shoot me. Brilliant solution, just brilliant.
You keep forgetting that you're welcome to do as you please, while letting others do the same. And if you've taken any notice at all, I haven't been trying to sway you into carrying a concealed weapon. Many and especially the ladies are carrying pepper spray and mace, which is a weapon of sorts, so should they not be, because this indicates that they are living in fear? And I guess if they take special training in physical combat to better protect themselves, then that means that they live in fear on a daily basis as well, eh?
Doing as you please is not always the right thing to do if it endangers others. The question is, is amount of concealed carry permits, access to assault weapons, pro gun culture, paranoia, and lack of trust among us beneficial or not? My argument is that the less guns in circulation the better. Your argument seems to be that the more guns in circulation the better. We each are entitled to our own opinions until public welfare is threatened. With over 13,900 deaths due to guns this year alone as of May 1, about 115 per day, and 202 mass shootings as of May 8, and the number of guns and people carrying guns around, it would seem your argument is defective as the public welfare is definitely compromised by the public's gun infatuation. As far as pepper spray and mace, I haven't seem any suicides, accidental deaths, or mass deaths tied to pepper spray and mace.
My point with your last statement is that you contradict yourself in saying that if you carry any kind of protection, then you're living in fear! And with that, I think I'm done here, while hoping that no one with a gun ever has to come to your rescue.... gun carrying citizen saves a cops life at DuckDuckGo
No matter how hard we try, it is impossible to change the minds of the gun owners who want more guns. In their minds, they need to protect themselves from the guns out there. Oh, and they greenwash us by saying that we should all have them to rescue damsels in distress and innocent children being slaughtered by assault weapons. But then again, we must remember they have been brainwashed since birth and raised on violent video games.
Experts warn of increased risk of US terror attacks by rightwing ‘lone wolf’ actors 90% of the cases of US terrorism are classified as domestic. Of the domestic terrorists, 95% are far-right. I'm completely fed up with idiotic false equivalencies alleging that Democrats are just as bad as Republicans. That's total bullshit! It's Republicans that are instigating this.
This is Howard Unruh, recognized as America's first mass murderer, under arrest, September 6, 1949. The Story of the First Mass Shooting in U.S. History | History| Smithsonian Magazine This country is 247 years old, thus it went 173 years without a mass murder. Obviously the difference is access to semi-automatic weapons, although Unruh didn't use one. We definitely need common-sense gun laws!
Yep, here in this mid-size city on Monday night at a block party with about 100 or so people, shooting started and went on for 10 or 15 minutes. Result was 4 dead and 7 wounded and in hospital. This family-style party had been held for 10 years with no trouble. Until now.
Definitely don't like the recent trends of violence being experienced in my city. It's nothing like the hotspots out there.. but it's a noticeable uptick in violence all the same. I used to hold out hope that sensible policy could.. maybe not eliminate it completely, but certainly mitigate the sheer destruction. It's really scary thinking about visiting the USA nowadays. Hopefully something, anything that could help is implemented soon.
It's not just the big cities. in 2017 someone with an assault rifle shot 48 people in a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas; population: 600. If it can happen in Sutherland Springs, Texas, it can happen here in my little village (population: 461). Nowhere is safe in America.
