Such trade wars can benefit a particular industry such as steel production but at the expense of damaging numerous other markets due to the artificially high prices of steel and the effects of retaliatory tariffs.

G.W. Bush ended the tariffs on steel imports that he had imposed. It became evident later that it was doing more damage than good.

Having read the comments sections of public posts, FB is a right wing extremist echo chamber almost exclusively, and if everyone gathered there with their online presence, they would literally build their own database of people to round up and ship them off to their own "sovereign land". They would be so excited about this, but then require passports to get into the USA and impose full trade embargo upon them. They'd be excited to have their own "country" and we could just let them think they "won".
