    Trump used stunts similar to those of Abbott and DeSantis, such as separating migrant children from their parents and threatening to eject DACA recipients from the U.S. He used them as bargaining chips to try to coerce Congress into giving him taxpayer money for his boarder wall. Trump failed and the wall never received money from Congress, even when his own party controlled both chambers.

    A rallying conspiracy narrative of Trump supporters has been that Democrats are guilty of human trafficking. One of Trump's rioters from Ohio who was arrested was on the Senate floor with a sign about saving the children who supposedly were being smuggled.

    Trump apparently endorsed Eric Schmitt in the primary race, although it's ambiguous.

    Trump endorsed 'Eric' which could have been either Eric Schmitt or Eric Greitens who were both running in the primary.

    Trump apparently was being a smart alec and trying to minimize his chance of losing.
