    Trump's legal team says that the seized documents that were marked classified weren't necessarily classified because Trump might have declassified them when he was still president and without safeguarding the sources by going through the accepted government procedures (which Trump's attorneys refer to as bureaucracy).

    That's not much of a defense for Trump. It implicates him in placing the sources of the classified material in harms way because they didn't know the material had been declassified and didn't have time to protect themselves in the event that the formerly-classified material was disseminated (Trump giving it away, people eavesdropping or outright stealing it at Mar-a-Lago, etc.) The risks are extreme considering the top secret nature of some of the documents.

    Moreover, Trump is a former president asserting executive privilege to prevent the executive branch itself during the current Biden administration from reviewing documents the executive branch had marked as classified, and that are its property, from being used in a criminal investigation involving Trump.

    Trump managed to judge shop and found Judge Cannon in Florida to go along with such an assertion.

    Judge Cannon has until this Thursday to change her stance and lift the injunction against using the government documents for the criminal investigation. If she doesn't, the DOJ has said it will appeal that particular issue to the 11th Circuit.

    It's unusual that the DOJ is placing a demand on the judge. Usually the judge places the demands on the plaintiff or defendant.

    The affidavit shows that the interactions between Trump and the government leading up to the execution of the search warrant were more involved than some may have thought.

    Trump has decried the search, but it didn't come out from nowhere.

    Trump and his associates may have screwed up bad this time If they still have classified documents in their possession and this time Judge Cannon can’t come to his rescue

    A Justice Department filing on Tuesday revealed its belief that Trump still has documents in his possession despite multiple claims that he has handed over everything.

    While U S District Court Judge Aileen Cannon has put a temporary stop to any investigation involving the documents seized by the search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, she has no control over the DOJ probe into those Trump still has in his possession
