Jan. 6 panel: Ex-White House lawyer spoke of 'Trump’s supreme dereliction of duty'

    excerpt:

"She said Secret Service agents in a presidential SUV with Trump refused to take him, and the president lunged for the steering wheel from behind the front seats and then tried to grab the throat of one agent, claims Trump has denied.

She also testified that Trump showed no sympathy for Pence as the rioters were getting potentially life-threateningly close to the vice president and Trump allegedly had the time and the power to call them off. The former president has denied this as well.

On Saturday Mulvey said in the committee's statement that Cipollone "corroborated key elements of Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony.""

Trump's attorney spoke to FBI, court filing says - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

    "Washington CNN —

The FBI interviewed Donald Trump’s attorney two weeks ago, federal prosecutors disclosed in a new court filing on Monday, a previously unknown development that could significantly shape the Justice Department’s sprawling investigation into the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

In his interview on June 29, the attorney, Justin Clark, contradicted former top Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s claim that the former president invoked executive privilege over particular information or materials, which Bannon had cited as an excuse to avoid testifying before the House select committee investigating the insurrection.

Bannon on Saturday told the committee that he is now willing to testify, ideally at a public hearing, according to a letter obtained by CNN. He had previously defied a congressional subpoena and is set to go on trial on criminal contempt charges later this month. The reversal came after he received a letter from Trump waiving executive privilege, although both the House select committee and federal prosecutors contend that privilege claim never gave Bannon carte blanche to ignore a congressional subpoena in the first place.

According to prosecutors, Bannon’s “attorney misrepresented to the Committee what the former President’s counsel had told the Defendant’s attorney."

According to the judge, Bannon's attorneys lied when they said Trump had given Bannon executive privilege. Trump didn't have the privilege. Bannon had long since exited the Trump administration before the Capitol riot, and Trump hasn't been president since January 2021.

Even if Trump had had the privilege, Bannon's attorneys didn't formally ask for it, but acted as if they asked for it and received it as an excuse for Bannon to not appear before the Jan. 6 committee, which Bannon now wants to do to avoid his criminal contempt trial that starts next week which resulted from his failure to appear before the committee.

Oath Keepers lawyer says Stewart Rhodes wanted her Trump contacts before Jan. 6 Capitol attack

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — In the weeks leading up to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes tried to get the organization’s general counsel, Kellye SoRelle, to put him in touch with the White House, she told NBC News.

In addition to her work with the Oath Keepers, SoRelle was a volunteer for Lawyers for Trump during the 2020 election and was in contact with many of the individuals fighting a doomed legal battle to attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election and keep former President Donald Trump in office. Those contacts include, she said, people in Rudy Giuliani’s and Sidney Powell’s camps, as well as those inside the administration, though she added that she “wasn’t, like, communicating with Trump directly.”

Rhodes wanted her to put him in touch with the White House. “He was hitting me up for a contact,” SoRelle, a family law lawyer who previously ran for the Texas statehouse, told NBC News. “He didn’t have any access points.”"

Glad he cancelled. That's a huge arena in the middle of nowhere - they would have packed in every redneck from the surrounding 5 counties.
