South Paris man Todd Tilley arrested for involvement in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot

    excerpt:

A South Paris man has been arrested for his involvement with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, according to court documents.

Todd Tilley of South Paris is facing a multitude of allegations including entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building and disorderly conduct at the Capitol building.

A criminal complaint states Tilley was spotted on a YouTube video, which is no longer available, in the minutes leading up to the shooting of Ashli Babbitt. The video shows rioters attempting to breach the door to the house chamber, according to officials.

The agent investigating Tilley’s involvement spoke with the man’s brother, who confirmed a picture from the video was Todd Tilley.

His brother also told agents he was aware that Tilley attended the rally, but did not know he entered the Capitol building.

The man’s brother sent a screenshot to authorities from Tilley on Jan. 6. The text asks Tilley if he was there, to which Tilley replied: “Yes. Pence screwed us over,” documents say.

Before entering the building, images allegedly show Tilley helping another person climb a wall to reach the stairs leading to the Upper West Terrace of the Capitol.

Georgia officials fact-check an infamous Trump phone call in real time

    excerpt:

"Trump said: "There's nothing wrong with saying that, you know, you've recalculated ... even if you cut them in half, cut them in half and cut them in half again, it's more votes than we need."

Schiff asked whether there was any way that Raffensperger could have lawfully changed the result of the vote in Georgia by explaining it as a "recalculation."

"No," Raffensperger said. "The numbers are the numbers, the numbers don't lie."

He added that his office investigated every single allegation it received, running down multiple rabbit holes to make sure its numbers were accurate.

Raffensperger's office investigated claims of 66,000 underage voters and found none. They investigated claims of 2,423 unregistered voters, and found zero. They investigated claims of 2,056 felons voting, and identified less than 74.

When Raffensperger told Trump on the call that his investigators hadn't found proof supporting his claims, the former president said "they're either dishonest or incompetent."

Trump and his attorneys weren't satisfied with the count and recounts. They wanted Raffensperger to deputize Trump's attorneys so that they could see people's personal information related to voter registration dating years back to try to find what Trump thought were copious amounts of illegal votes for Biden, as many as 500,000.

Michael Goodwin is frustrated with the televised Jan. 6 hearings and thinks they are helping Trump.

He's an opinion writer for the NY Post and a contributor to Fox.

Goodwin is still upset about Hillary using the term 'deplorables' to describe some of Trump's supporters. He is trying to equate the current Jan. 6 hearings to her remark and claiming that it will help Trump in a 2024 run.

He's harking back to the 2015 and 2016 era when Trump had the advantage of not yet having a political record to criticize.

Trump's riot at the Capitol was a grand manifestation of Hillary's term 'deplorable'. On the day of the insurrection, even those at Fox said that Trump was ruining what they thought had been a good legacy and were trying to reach him to convince him to stop the riot.

The televised Jan. 6 hearings turned the table on Trump.

He's known for scalding people he doesn't like in the public domain, such as canceling the military flight of the bipartisan Congressional delegation on ots way to the airport to make them look silly because he was upset that he wouldn't be able to do the State of the Union address because of the government shutdown that he created because Republicans wouldn't give him the $25 billion he wanted to build his frivolous border wall that he said Mexico would finance.

This time Trump is on the receiving end of it.

The latest news about a subpoena to the documentary film maker who had intimate access to Trump in the weeks leading up to his insurrection is another table being turned on Trump.

His ego and reality TV star background led him to make such a documentary, not realizing that it could be used against him. What has been an asset for him can be harvested by others and used as a liability,

These are the approaches those on the receiving end of Trump need to use to counter his tactics. He's had the upper hand most of his life over people and groups who have had much less power to defend themselves. Currently, he's up against the U.S. Congress, U.S. DOJ, a DA and grand jury in GA, and a civil investigator in NY.

Trump's taking classified government documents to his Mar-a-Lago mansion is still an ongoing issue. That one seems like a blatant act of his and an open and shut case against him.

He could always try to weasel out of it be saying he, as President, gave himself permission to do it, that he didn't know he was supposed to obtain permission, or, like he did about his phone call to Raffensperger, simply say that it was 'perfect and justified'. Those arguments are weak.

After many months of haggling, it took intervention by Congress and the DOJ before Trump finally returned the documents. It's symbolic of his defiance.

I like how Fox News reporters repeatedly say that the Dems should be focused on the food and gas prices- like, what the hell you think? Like these assholes really care- they aren’t even feeling it because they’re so damn rich and calloused. And the reality is that an administration needs to be able to focus on a multitude of topics. This one is definitely not taking a back seat!

Sen. Ron Johnson tried to transmit Wisconsin's fake electoral votes - Wisconsin Examiner

    excerpt:

"The committee also aired video testimony Tuesday from Andrew Hitt, the former chair of the Wisconsin Republican Party and one of the fake electors who cast the fake electoral ballots for Trump. Hitt, who stepped down as party chair in July 2021, testified that he was unaware his fake electoral vote would be sent to Washington.

“I was told that these would only count if a court ruled in our favor. So that would have been using our electors in ways that we weren’t told about, and we wouldn’t have supported,” Hitt said of the pressure campaign that used the dual states of electors in the seven states as grounds to try to stop certification of Biden’s win."

The fact that a sitting US Senator (regardless of party affiliation) was knowingly complicit in a criminal conspiracy to undermine the peaceful transfer of power is staggering.

He needs to be indicted by the DOJ but I'm more concerned with the long-term implications which does not bode well for this fragile democracy

Sen. Ron Johnson is trying to make himself sound like an innocent bystander who was unwittingly duped into delivering Russian strudel to a secret government agent during the Cold War era.
