So they nailed that arrogant prick

Peter Navarro Indicted On Contempt Of Congress Charges

A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Thursday charging Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro with two counts of contempt of Congress relating to his refusal to testify before the House Jan. 6 Committee.

The House issued a subpoena for Navarro’s records and testimony in February. Navarro refused to comply,
after which point the House referred him for prosecution over contempt of Congress.

Federal prosecutors unsealed the indictment on Friday, after it was returned on Thursday. Navarro is
scheduled for his first court appearance this afternoon.

... thinks being a "martyr for the cause" is somehow a good thing.

So, let's see what Navarro gets for contempt......a stern scolding by the court plus a slap on the wrist, or maybe they're making him go to bed without supper. You and I would be in a holding cell with Bubba

Navarro indicted for contempt of Congress after defying Jan. 6 panel subpoena

    excerpt:

"Bannon has argued in court filings that his refusal to comply was simply a reflection of DOJ’s longstanding guidance on congressional subpoenas. But prosecutors rejected that contention and said his case was not comparable to those previously analyzed by the government.

Navarro, who has been dealing with the select committee without a lawyer, publicly acknowledged receiving a grand jury subpoena related to his refusal to comply last week. He filed a lawsuit against the committee and Justice Department Tuesday, but a federal judge told him Thursday to refile it to correct a series of errors."

At a rally in Sarasota, FL in July 2021, Trump made reference to the money he gave Weisselberg in the form of cars, apartment rent, and tuition for his family apparently in an effort to avoid employment taxes.

Trump, the one who says he knows more about taxes than anyone, asked his audience if anyone knows how taxes work in that situation and if he acted illegally. "Does anyone know the answer to that stuff?"

Trump brags he know taxes ‘better than the greatest CPA’

Trump appears to acknowledge tax schemes while questioning whether alleged violations are crimes

“They go after good, hard-working people for not paying taxes on a company car,” he said at a rally in Sarasota, Fla. “You didn't pay tax on the car or a company apartment. You used an apartment because you need an apartment because you have to travel too far where your house is. You didn't pay tax. Or education for your grandchildren. I don't even know. Do you have to? Does anybody know the answer to that stuff?”

Trump asks if Canada burnt down White House in call with PM

    excerpt:

"Canadians have reacted with dismay to reports US President Donald Trump questioned whether Canada burned down the White House during a call with the country's leader, Justin Trudeau.

British forces did set fire to the presidential residence during the War of 1812 with the US.

But Canada did not exist at the time - it was made up of British colonies.

"Didn't you guys burn down the White House?" Mr Trump reportedly asked in a call with Mr Trudeau over new tariffs.

It is not clear if the comment was intended as a joke, but CNN report that it followed an exchange in which Mr Trudeau asked how the US could justify the tariffs as a "national security" issue."

Before Jan. 6, Aide Warned Secret Service of Security Risk to Pence

    excerpt:

"The day before a mob of President Donald J. Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence’s chief of staff called Mr. Pence’s lead Secret Service agent to his West Wing office.

The chief of staff, Marc Short, had a message for the agent, Tim Giebels: The president was going to turn publicly against the vice president, and there could be a security risk to Mr. Pence because of it.

The stark warning — the only time Mr. Short flagged a security concern during his tenure as Mr. Pence’s top aide — was uncovered recently during research by this reporter for an upcoming book, “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America,” to be published in October.

Mr. Short did not know what form such a security risk might take, according to people familiar with the events. But after days of intensifying pressure from Mr. Trump on Mr. Pence to take the extraordinary step of intervening in the certification of the Electoral College count to forestall Mr. Trump’s defeat, Mr. Short seemed to have good reason for concern. The vice president’s refusal to go along was exploding into an open and bitter breach between the two men at a time when the president was stoking the fury of his supporters who were streaming into Washington."

Proud Boy pleads guilty to felony.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/06/03/proud-boy-pruitt-pleads-guilty-jan6/

    excerpt:

"A D.C. bartender who stormed the U.S. Capitol with fellow members of the Proud Boys on Jan. 6, 2021, has pleaded guilty to obstructing the congressional vote count certifying President Biden’s victory.

Joshua Pruitt, 39, will be sentenced on the felony charge on August 26. He faces up to 20 years in prison, but prosecutors estimate guidelines will recommend a sentence of 51 to 63 months.

“Mr. Pruitt accepts responsibility,” his attorney, Robert Jenkins, said. “His original intent on that day was to simply exercise his constitutional rights. However, he realizes that his actions went beyond a peaceful demonstration.”

Dozens of members or affiliates of the Proud Boys have been charged with crimes for their actions on Jan. 6, including being among the first to engage with police and break down barriers to the Capitol building. Pruitt marched to the Capitol with Proud Boys from Maryland and entered the building not long after the initial breach, according to his plea. But he is not accused of engaging in a seditious conspiracy against the United States, as longtime chairman Enrique Tarrio and other senior Proud Boys are. That group is set to go to trial on August 8. The Proud Boys are also being sued by D.C.'s attorney general under a law originally written to cripple the Ku Klux Klan."

The Tampa area again. It's been a focal point for Trump rioters.

Lakeland, Clearwater men indicted in connection with Capitol riot | wtsp.com

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — Two Tampa Bay area men were arrested Friday and accused of being involved in the Jan. 6, 2021 breach of the U.S. Capitol.

The U.S. Department of Justice said 59-year-old Brian Boele, of Lakeland, and 48-year-old James Brett, of Clearwater, were indicted on felony charges of civil disorder and three related misdemeanor counts.

"Boele and Brett joined a group in illegally entering the Capitol grounds and making their way to the Lower West Terrace, where law enforcement officers were attempting to secure the building from a crowd of rioters," the DOJ wrote in a news release.

The two men were named in a superseding indictment that had previously charged three more Tampa Bay area defendants. The DOJ said the three others charged were 28-year-old Alan Fischer III, of Tampa, 34-year-old Zachary Johnson, of St. Pete, and 61-year-old Dion Rajewski of Largo. Those three have pleaded not guilty.

Boele and Brett made their initial court appearances Friday before a federal magistrate judge in the Middle District of Florida, according to the DOJ. Both were released on standard conditions.

"In the 16 months since Jan. 6, 2021, more than 800 individuals have been arrested in nearly all 50 states for crimes related to the breach of the U.S. Capitol, including over 250 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement," the DOJ wrote in a statement. "The investigation remains ongoing.""

Gohmert is frustrated that Republicans can't lie to Congress and the FBI without the FBI coming after them.

    https://thehill.com/news/house/3511...e-to-an-fbi-agent-or-theyre-coming-after-you/

    excerpt:

"Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) railed against the indictment of former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro while saying in an interview on Friday that “if you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you.”

Gohmert, speaking to Newsmax in an interview on Friday, was asked to comment on the Friday indictment of Navarro by a federal grand jury after the former Trump official failed to comply with the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“It actually puts an exclamation point on the fact that we have a two-tiered justice system. If you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you. They’re gonna bury you. They’re gonna put you in the D.C. jail and terrorize and torture you and not live up to the Constitution there,” Gohmert responded."

Donald Trump explains why he can't find so many of the former secretaries NY AG Letitia James wants to hear from

    excerpt:

"But most of the 12 missing former executive assistants had not responded to voicemails or failed to call back as promised, explained the latest filing in Trump's battle against James' document subpoeana.

The filing gave this accounting for the 12 AWOL assistants:

Three couldn't be located because they had not left forwarding numbers, the filing said, and a fourth had apparently changed their phone number.

Six more had left forwarding numbers, but didn't return the lawyers' phone calls to those numbers, the filing said.

Another former executive assistant's phone was out of service, and yet another was reached, promised to call back, but did not.

That accounts for 11 of the dozen; the 12th was found in the week since the AG's office complained, and swore an affidavit stating "I have no formal document retention policy" that is now appended to the court record."
