The problem of debt ownership and responsibilities should have been worked out first by the legislature before dissolving Reedy Creek.

DeSantis is the same as Trump. Both create problems by making capricious moves based on their emotions related to a culture war that they started. Later, they try to formulate solutions to the problems they needlessly created.

Trump is full of self-inflicted problems. He tried various after-the-fact remedies for the trade war he started, including direct, taxpayer subsidized, relief payments to farmers (his recipient farmers don't want to call it welfare checks).

He didn't know what to do with the government shutdown he invoked because Congress (including Republicans who controlled both House and Senate at the time) wouldn't give him taxpayer money for it.

One of his most foolish moments was serving Big Macs to the college football champions at the White House because staff weren't available to provide a normal meal because of his government shutdown.

CNN Exclusive: New text messages reveal Fox's Hannity advising Trump White House and seeking direction - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Fox’s Sean Hannity exchanged more than 80 text messages between Election Day 2020 and Joe Biden’s January 2021 inauguration, communications that show Hannity’s evolution from staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump’s election lies to being “fed up” with the “lunatics” hurting Trump’s cause in the days before January 6.

CNN obtained Meadows’ 2,319 text messages, which he selectively provided in December to the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. While the logs show Meadows communicating with multiple Fox personalities, as well as a number of journalists from other organizations, Hannity stands out with 82 messages. The texts, including dozens of newly disclosed messages, offer a real-time window into how Hannity, a close friend of Trump, was reacting to the election and its aftermath."

Trump election probe in Georgia to seat special grand jury

    excerpt:

"ATLANTA -- When potential grand jurors show up at an Atlanta courthouse Monday, they'll find a television camera in the room and streets closed outside — nods to the intense public interest in the investigation into whether former President Donald Trump and others illegally tried to pressure Georgia officials to overturn Joe Biden’s presidential election victory in the state.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has taken the unusual step of requesting a special grand jury for the investigation, and the selection of that panel begins Monday.

The seating of a grand jury — even a rare special grand jury — is a routine process that's generally of little interest to the public. But the appetite for any news about this case has prompted the court to make accommodations for at least parts of the grand jury selection to be broadcast to the public. Although there will be cameras in the room, they won't be allowed to show potential grand jurors.

The investigation into potential attempts to influence the 2020 general election in Georgia began early last year. Willis asked the chief judge of the county superior court in January to impanel a special grand jury. She wrote in a letter that her office had information indicating a “reasonable probability” of “possible criminal disruptions” to the administration of that election."

Ex-cop charged with assaulting police on Jan. 6 wants jurors to believe it was self defense

    excerpt:

"Webster claimed an image of him with his hands pressed up against Rathbun’s face and mask was merely an example of him trying to show Rathbun where his hands were.

He reportedly told jurors Thursday that in his experience as a police officer, when engaging with nervous or unpredictable people, making the hands visible might remove tension from the situation."

Another ex-cop and Trump rioter, Robertson.

Ex-cop who stormed Capitol on Jan. 6 found guilty on all charges, including obstruction

    excerpt:

"Robertson not only faced charges related directly to his conduct on Jan. 6 but for conduct occurring well after he breached the Capitol.

After his arrest and indictment and while he was on pretrial release, Robertson ordered more than two dozen firearms through a dealer in Virginia, dropping $50,000 on the stash. This violated terms of his release and prosecutors threw him back in jail in July.

It was not immediately clear on Monday night when Robertson would be sentenced."

Evidence of Trump officials’ meddling puts trust spotlight on CDC

    excerpt:

"New evidence of political interference in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s early pandemic response raised fresh questions in Congress on Friday on how to prevent future meddling and strengthen public trust in the health agency.

Emails detailing how Trump administration officials intervened to take out “offensive” language that raised “religious liberty concerns” from CDC guidance to faith communities in May 2020 were released by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis ahead of a Friday hearing on the scientific integrity of public health agencies.

“As Americans were dying by the thousands, then-President Trump and his political appointees made the calculation that his re-election would be more likely if the seriousness of the pandemic were downplayed,” Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), the subcommittee’s chair, said in an opening statement. “The lifesaving work of scientists at our public health agencies must never be corrupted for the perceived political benefit of the president or for any other reason.”

Friday’s hearing follows the release of an April 29 report from the Government Accountability Office that found employees at four public health agencies did not report their concerns about the political interference they saw in their workplace. They said they didn’t because they “feared retaliation,” were “unsure how to report the issues” or “believed agency leaders were already aware.”"

Eastman to produce 10,000 pages of Trump-related emails as broader legal fight looms

    excerpt:

"Attorney John Eastman, a key architect of former President Donald Trump’s legal effort to overturn the 2020 election, is preparing to provide another 10,000 pages of records to the Jan. 6 select committee, his attorney revealed late Friday.

It’s the latest breakthrough for congressional investigators in their ongoing fight to obtain details of Trump’s last-ditch plans to overturn his election loss.

Eastman had claimed attorney-client privilege over 37,000 pages of post-election emails related to his work for Trump. But under pressure from U.S. District Court Judge David Carter — who ruled in March that Eastman and Trump likely entered into a criminal conspiracy to overturn the election — Eastman withdrew privilege claims for nearly a third of that total.

In Friday’s court filing, Eastman’s lawyers indicated that the select committee now wants more time to consider how to handle the remaining 27,000 pages of records that remain in dispute. Carter has asked Eastman to produce a log of all the emails that remain contested, but Eastman is now asking Carter for a brief reprieve while the select committee reviews the new documents and determines how to proceed.

The committee’s legal fight to obtain Eastman’s records — all originally housed by his former employer, Chapman University — has been a top priority for the panel, which is fending off dozens of lawsuits from witnesses to Trump’s conduct in the aftermath of the election."

Rioter Webster says it was self-defense.

Trump says it was hugging and kissing.

The GOP says it was an ordinary tourist expressing legitimate political discourse.

Nearly a year and four months after Trump's insurrection at the Capitol, Webster is still defiant and blaming the police for his violent actions.

Webster is the first defendant to actually take the stand in a handful of Capitol riot trials.

Webster is a former officer in the NYPD who once guarded the NY City Hall.

He should have been helping to defend the Capitol.
