What is the FAUCI Act? Why it’s a jab at nation’s top COVID-19 doctor excerpt: "A Utah congressman is taking aim at the nation’s top infectious disease doctor with a bill unflatteringly titled the FAUCI Act. Republican Rep. Chris Stewart introduced a bill Tuesday to ban federal funding for “gain-of-function” research in Chinese labs. Some claim bat coronavirus research in Wuhan, China, led to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Fairness and Accountability in Underwriting Chinese Institutions Act — or FAUCI Act — would also provide for an accounting of U.S. tax dollars spent on such research, particularly in China, and restrict government officials who intentionally mislead Congress."
GOP senator plans to introduce 'Fauci Act' after clash at hearing excerpt: "Marshall will be introducing the Financial Accountability for Uniquely Compensated Individuals (FAUCI) Act after he said Fauci’s records were not readily accessible to the public, a spokesperson for the senator told The Hill. The Fauci Act would require the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) website to provide the financial records of administration officials like Fauci and a list of those in the government whose financial records are not public."
Trump is still upset that Fauci threw the first pitch of a baseball game and he didn't as president. He mocked Fauci for the pitch at his rallies. Trump later lied that NY invited him to throw a first pitch which was denied by the baseball league. He had to lie again about why it didn't happen by saying that he didn't accept (the offer that never existed) because he was too busy being president (spending time lying about things that didn't happen).

AG Paxton of Texas must turn over documents related to Trump's insurrection. Texas Attorney General must turn over records related to Jan. 6 Trump rally or face lawsuit, DA says excerpt: "AUSTIN — The Travis County district attorney has determined that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton violated the state’s open records law by not turning over his communications from last January, when he appeared at the pro-Trump rally that preceded the attack on the U.S. Capitol. The district attorney gave Paxton four days to remedy the issue or face a lawsuit. The probe was prompted by a complaint filed by top editors at several of the state’s largest newspapers: the Austin American-Statesman, The Dallas Morning News, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express-News. In a letter hand delivered to Paxton on Thursday, the district attorney’s head of public integrity said her investigation showed the attorney general’s office broke state law by withholding or failing to retain his own communications that should be subject to public release. “After a thorough review of the complaint, the (district attorney’s) office has determined that Paxton and (his office) violated Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code,” wrote Jackie Wood, director of the district attorney’s public integrity and complex crimes unit, referring to the open records statute. The district attorney’s office will take Paxton and his agency to court if they do not “cure this violation” within four days, Wood warned. For open-records complaints against state agencies, the law says the Travis County district attorney or the attorney general must handle them. The newspapers filed the complaint with the district attorney."
Texas Attorney General must turn over records related to Jan. 6 Trump rally or face lawsuit, DA says excerpt: "Bill Aleshire, an attorney and transparency expert, said he could not recall an attorney general ever being accused of violating open records laws to avoid releasing his own communications. “When the public official responsible for enforcing public records laws violates those laws himself, it puts a dagger in the heart of transparency at every level in Texas,” Aleshire said. “Why should other Texas officials be transparent with public information if the AG himself is not?”"
Here's a guy 81 friggin years old, that's worked tirelessly for multiple administrations. Yeah, he's crooked. He's old. He has all the money he will ever need to live out the short rest of his life with his finances spelled out to the public. Yeah, he has a big pension, that usually happens after working for 60 years in a professional capacity to which he might be able to pull on for a few years. Obviously not a power or fame seeker. Listen, guys, what is his supposed end game if he is so evil ? That he caved under massive pressure to change the quarantine from 10 days to 5 to kill the world?
Graham did it this week by saying he wouldn't support McConnell as leader of the Senate because he isn't supporting Trump's stolen election lies.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/01/14/ken-paxton-stop-the-steal-trump/ excerpt: "Paxton is coming under fire at home for refusing to turn over texts and emails related to his trip to the Capitol to join the Jan. 6 “Stop the Steal” rally. His association with Trump’s schemes is now coming to a head: The Travis County district attorney has just announced that Paxton may be running afoul of the state’s open records law. You may remember Paxton. He led that despicable lawsuit brought by Republican attorneys general that sought to invalidate millions of votes in four states, all because those states went for Joe Biden. Paxton then gave a rousing speech at the Jan. 6 gathering, in which he urged Trump supporters not to “quit fighting.” They didn’t, and soon after, a mob attacked the Capitol, culminating in an effort to overturn U.S. democracy that left five dead and scores injured. This has now caught up with him. And what we’re seeing unfold is shaping up as quite the sordid tale. Last spring, four Texas newspapers asked Paxton’s office for all work-related texts and emails sent and received while he was in Washington for “Stop the Steal,” citing Texas law guaranteeing the public the right to government documents. Paxton refused, and the four newspapers took their complaint to Travis County district attorney Jose Garza. Now Garza’s office has investigated the complaint and found that it has merit, announcing that Paxton is in violation of Texas law and giving him four days to release the documents in question, or go to court. What makes this so remarkable is that the office of Paxton, as attorney general, is supposed to be the party enforcing this open records law. But Texas law also offers the option of going to the Travis County prosecutor to allege that a state agency (in this case, Paxton’s) is in violation."
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/01/14/ken-paxton-stop-the-steal-trump/ excerpt: "Paxton, of course, will undoubtedly view any association with Trump, no matter now wretched and depraved, as helpful with the GOP base. Indeed, in Trumpist public officials like Paxton, you can trace a direct line from support for Trump’s effort to subvert democracy right to the seething contempt for his own role as a public servant we’re now seeing from him. Recall that when Paxton announced that lawsuit on Trump’s behalf, he oozed with phony sanctimony about the need for “trust in the integrity of our election processes.” After this, he spearheaded a lawsuit that didn’t merely seek to cast out millions of votes based on lies. It also went out of its way to highlight invented fraud in urban areas that just happen to be home to a lot of Black voters. It was only a short leap from there to playing a prominent role in “Stop the Steal,” and then after that rally helped spark the worst outbreak of U.S. political violence in modern times, spinning right around and blaming the riot on antifa. Yes, Paxton also did exactly that. Now reporters are demanding that Paxton release his communications about that day. As a San Antonio Express-News editorial sharply put it: Who paid for Paxton’s jaunt to Washington, D.C., for the rally? And with whom did Paxton communicate during the week of the insurrection? How did he react to the riot as it unfolded? Who booked him as a speaker? To top it all off, Paxton may now be breaking the law that his own office is supposed to enforce to keep any Jan. 6-related communications covered up. Here’s another unshakable rule of the Trump era: The same Republicans who insult us with the most transparently phony pieties about protecting the integrity of our constitutional system will sooner or later display bottomless contempt for our elections, for the law, and even for public service itself."
Katko not seeking reelection. John Katko: Third House Republican who voted to impeach Trump calls it quits - CNNPolitics
Michigan AG Nessel refers GOP electors review to federal prosecutors excerpt: "The revelation demonstrated the potential seriousness and ongoing nature of the investigation and could have repercussions throughout state politics, as the 16 Republicans in question, include high-ranking members of the state GOP, like Co-Chairwoman Meshawn Maddock. During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show," Nessel announced the case's referral to the U.S. attorney's office for the Western District of Michigan. The Democratic attorney general specifically suggested forgery charges could be considered and said the GOP electors in Michigan seemed to be part of a "coordinated effort." Similar certificates were created by Republicans in a handful of other battleground states. "Under state law, I think clearly you have forgery of a public record, which is a 14-year offense, and election law forgery, which is a five-year offense," Nessel said during the appearance."
Instead of making a completely new forged document, for added style, like his doctored hurricane chart, Trump could have put lines through Biden's name and the signatures of the original legitimate officials with his Sharpie pen on the original document followed by his name as the 'winner' and the signatures of his Republican imposters.
Considering the defiance and corruption of Paxton, he would be expected to fight it in court or concoct more alibis that he doesn't have the information (like Cyber Ninjas did for months).
