Unvaxxed diner owner who defied Michigan lockdown orders dies of COVID

A Michigan man who defied state lockdown restrictions to keep his diner open last year during the pandemic, partly to pay for his wife's cancer treatment, has died of complications from Covid-19.

John Parney, 62, the owner of the Quincy Diner in Quincy, Michigan, died after a two month battle against the virus on December 14.

Parney continued running the small diner and lunch spot in December 2020 in violation of orders from the Michigan health department, which was trying to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by banning dine-in business.

    Yes, another one............

Man 'Needlessly' Died of COVID-19 After Not Believing in Vaccine, Siblings Say in Obituary

Two siblings were brutally honest about their brother's death from COVID-19, calling it "needless" because he didn't believe in masks, testing, the vaccine or even the virus.

In an obituary posted in The Daily Gazette, the two siblings explained that their brother, Michael Joseph Malecki, "needlessly died" of COVID-19 on November 15. They said he was sick for less than 48 hours before his death and partially blamed the mentality he used for living for why he died.

"He liked to say he lived his life according to his favorite songs, 'My Way' and 'I Gotta Be Me.' He was certainly him, and it probably killed him," the siblings wrote.

My Way, by Frank Sinatra, details the life of a man who lived his life on his own terms and according to what he believed in without making apologies for it. Although his life hasn't always been easy and he's taken some "blows" along the way, he's overall content with how his life has turned out because he never compromised his beliefs. I Gotta Be Me has a similar sentiment, where a person can only be who they are and isn't living their life to please other people.

When vaccines first came out and in short supply everyone wanted one. Like when it snows people want milk more then ever or bottled water before a hurricane they all line up.

But now I think the mandates are causing more people to refuse vaccines because people don't want to be told what to do by those fuk-tards in government and on TV news no one respects. That was probably enough to push most on the fence about vaccines over to the refusal side.

What if when it snowed the government said you MUST go out and buy milk, people would say eff off.

The Omicron variant is spreading like wildfire. Once again we're setting records for number of new cases and hospitalizations. Omicron is shown to be less dangerous than previous strains but its rapid spread is overwhelming the system, and it's just getting started.

Of those newly hospitalized, 72% are unvaccinated, and of the 28% who are vaccinated, only 3% had gotten the booster. And yet the anti-vaxxers remain defiant to the end (literally).

My latest favorite was "oh, if you test positive, you only have to quarantine for five days, honor system...." Employers are turning a blind eye to that because they can't get people to even show up for work - like the airline industry and adult care communities, where the latest job qualifications list, 'do you have a pulse, then you're hired'...... At what point do we call out the national guard to help out ??? This is the largest national emergency ever - health care, airports, police, fire, TESTING SITES.....I just don't understand.

Here in Massachusetts, I never thought we'd see cases in excess of 10,000 a day but we have with this new variant

The positivity rate is nearing 9% it's crazy

I think 99% of the people who were going to get vaccinated have already been. The holdouts are never going to be convinced. I have a colleague who has been sick with COVID over two weeks, pneumonia, coughing up blood, broke a rib coughing and STILL thinks he did the right thing with not getting vaccinated since nobody was going to tell HIM what to do.....my fathead boss is still on an oxygen concentrator after "recovering" from COVID over a month ago....he feels the same way, nobody is telling him how to live his life ... God save us.

Of course it's the record for new infections, people are catching it even if they're vaccinated, but while new cases are up, new hospitalizations and deaths are down compared to the number of new infections. By far most vaccinated people catching it have either mild or no symptoms. And then their immunity is boosted further.

    Why wait a week?

As US shatters COVID case records, experts predict outlook for coming months

Federal data shows the nation is now reporting an average of more than 277,000 new cases a day, shattering the previous record of 250,000 cases per day from last January.

These numbers are absolutely staggering, especially considering we are two years into the pandemic," said John Brownstein, Ph.D., an epidemiologist at Boston Children's Hospital and an ABC News contributor.

The record average comes after the U.S. reported two consecutive days of more than 430,000 new cases, following soaring demand for tests and a backlog of holiday reporting data.

Sadly I will have to miss New Year's Eve. I was sick last night and I will be getting a covid test on Monday.

I'm triple vaccinated so you could say I have mild symptoms, though they didn't feel mild last night. First I had chest pains, my ribs felt like they were being pushed outward. This lasted for several hours and I couldn't sleep. Around midnight it started feeling better but then I got chills. I was lying in bed in pajamas with the covers over me but I was still shivering. This lasted about an hour, then I was able to get some sleep.

I feel better today but really sluggish. I've taken two naps. Also my piss is a little orange. At this point I don't know if it's covid but I'm quarantining myself. Not a good way to start a new year, I'll keep you updated.
