DeSantis is the most jackass of all.

DeSantis penalized groups for mandating face coverings to fight COVID by taking away their money which further economically damaged FL

When Biden gave the groups in Florida federal money that DeSantis took away, DeSantis punished them further by taking away more money to offset Biden's money.

Now DeSantis is complaining that he didn't receive enough of Biden's COVID relief money.

Republicans Who Assailed Biden's Stimulus Bill Are Embracing the Money

    excerpt:

"Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida complained last week that the federal formula for allocating money to states based on their jobless rate had essentially penalized Florida for not imposing lockdowns and allowing businesses to remain open during the pandemic.

“I think you’d have to acknowledge that we got the short end of the stick compared to these other states,” DeSantis said."

And being short is one place, I'm sure, that DeSantis knows all about.

Head of January 6 inquiry says he has ‘quite revealing’ info on members of Congress aiding US Capitol riot

    excerpt:

"The head of the committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol said he has information that’s “quite revealing” about members of Congress playing an active role in facilitating the riot, which left five people dead and injured roughly 140 members of law enforcement.

“The information we’ve received has been quite revealing about members of Congress involved in the activities of January 6 as well as staff,” said representative Bennie Thompson, the Democratic head of the inquiry, on Monday.

The information came from the limited testimony of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and specific names and allegations will be revealed at a later date, the Mississippi congressman added."

Now we need to add Jim Jordan to that picture. His text message to Meadows was revealed today in Congress. He told Meadows that Pence had the constitutional authority to block Biden's certification. And we all remember Trump twittering "Stop the count!"

Jim Jordan has a selective fuzzy memory.

He initially dodged questions and gave vague answers like he wasn't sure if he contacted Trump on Jan. 6.

In July 2021, he admitted to contacting Trump on Jan. 6 but wasn't sure about the time and content.

Jim Jordan wanted to be on the select committee investigating Trump's insurrection.

Florida man arrested after federal authorities say he beat DC cop with a flagpole on January 6

    excerpt:

"A Florida man accused of taking part in the beating of a police officer during the January 6 insurrection was arrested this week, the Department of Justice said Wednesday.

Mason Joel Courson, 26, was arrested in Tamarac, Florida, and charged on 24 counts — including using a deadly or dangerous weapon against a member of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, according to the federal indictment.

He is also accused of breaking through a police line and entering restricted grounds during the January 6 attack on the US Capitol by a pro-Trump mob that sought to block the certification of President Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election."

    Mark Meadows, Chief Enabler

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...65b502-5db8-11ec-9c0e-a955f8a009c1_story.html

    excerpt:

"The panel’s months-long investigation has revealed the myriad ways in which Meadows is inextricably bound to the Jan. 6 attack, serving less as chief of staff than chief enabler to a president who was desperate to hold onto power.

He joined a Jan. 2 call now under investigation in which Trump pressed Georgia’s secretary of state to “find” enough votes to defeat Joe Biden. He repeatedly passed on conspiracy theories and falsehoods to top administration officials encouraging them to overturn the election. And he participated in discussions about the Jan. 6 rally that turned violent, saying the National Guard
would be present to protect “pro-Trump people.”

New details emerge on Meadows’s role in trying to overturn election

Though the traditional function of a White House chief of staff is as a gatekeeper, Meadows instead threw the gates to the Oval Office wide open — acting as a facilitator to conspiracy theorists and often declining to tamp down Trump’s obsession with false election claims.

“He didn’t just hold Trump’s coat while he led an insurrection or play feckless consigliere on a call with the Georgia secretary of state — he was deeply involved in efforts to overturn democracy,” said Chris Whipple, the author of “The Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency.”

Referring to Meadows’s newly released book, “The Chief’s Chief,” about his time serving in the Trump White House, Whipple said, “It really ought to be ‘The Anti Chief’ or ‘The Un-Chief,’ because the chief of staff is, above all else, supposed to tell the president hard truths, and Meadows has just raised sycophancy to an art form.”"

    excerpt:

"A 51-page report released by the committee Sunday night, as well as other disclosures, paint a more complete picture of just how integral Meadows was in the days leading up to insurrection, as well as on Jan. 6 itself.

According to the report, Meadows received text messages and emails about a strategy to encourage Republican legislators in certain states to send alternate slates of electors to Congress, which some Trump allies believed would allow vice president Mike Pence to overturn the election results. When a member of Congress described the plan to Meadows as “highly controversial,” Meadows responded, “I love it.”

Meadows also oversaw a West Wing staff that, in the post-election period, regularly perpetuated false claims of fraud.

On Jan. 6, Meadows served as a key point of contact for panicked lawmakers, allies, journalists and even Trump family members, who sent desperate texts pleading with him to convince Trump to call off the angry mob at the Capitol.

“I’m pushing hard. I agree,” Meadows responded to Trump’s oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., after he said his father needed to condemn the violence.

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-Miss.), chairman of the Jan. 6 committee, said Wednesday that the committee was startled by the information Meadows was trafficking.

“We were surprised at what we found,” Thompson said, referring to more than 2,000 text messages and 6,000 pages of documents turned over by Meadows. “Not unexpectedly, but the fact that it was crystal clear who was engaging in it. It was crystal clear at what level that engagement took and the fact that it gave us more reason to want to talk to him to get more clarity on those subjects.”"

As the riot ensued, Trump wasn't listening to anyone telling him to call off his riot. Not his own son, his daughter, Mark Meadows, and four of his main cronies at Fox.

It gives the impression of Trump with his eyes glued to the TV for hours as the riot unfolded, mesmerized.

Liz Cheney might be onto something with criminal charges for Trump, legal experts say

    excerpt:

"Cheney mentioned the statute Monday after rattling off texts in which Fox News anchors, lawmakers and even the then-president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., expressed alarm to Meadows over the Capitol attack and urged him to persuade Trump to have the angry mob stand down. The texts underscored how, on January 6, Trump allies viewed the sitting president as an authority figure singularly capable of putting an end to an attack that overwhelmed police and left five people dead.

On Twitter, former US attorneys were struck by Cheney's clear reference to a criminal statute in discussing the House select panel's interest in Trump.

"They were his to command. Cheney raising the notion that by failing to stop them, Trump impeded Congress (could be a crime)," wrote Joyce Vance, a former US attorney in northern Alabama.

"Wow. @Liz_Cheney going straight to possible criminal culpability by Trump as reason they need Meadows's testimony. They are not messing around," wrote Harry Litman, who served in the Obama administration as the top federal prosecutor in western Pennsylvania."

Trump allies urge McCarthy to remove Kinzinger, Cheney from House GOP conference

    excerpt:

"More than 40 conservative figures sent a letter to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) on Wednesday urging him to remove Reps. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) from the House GOP conference.

The group, which includes a number of Trump allies, said the two Republicans should be booted from the House conference “due to their egregious actions” as members of the House select committee that is tasked with investigating the circumstances around the Jan. 6 riot.

“As you are aware, this committee has no formal representation from Republicans. Both Reps. Cheney and Kinzinger serve at the request of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.),” the conservatives wrote.

“As part of Pelosi’s team, Reps. Cheney and Kinzinger have deliberately sought to undermine the privacy and due process of their fellow Republicans, and those of private citizens, with improperly issued subpoenas and other investigatory tactics designed not to pursue any valid legislative end, but merely to exploit for the sake of political harassment and demagoguery,” they added.

The letter was signed by conservatives including former Reagan Attorney General Edwin Meese III, American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp, Citizens United President David Bossie, Club for Growth President David McIntosh and Conservative Partnership Institute chairman Jim DeMint."
