Donald Trump is now backing a QAnon conspiracy theorist to run Arizona's elections - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"As the Arizona Republic notes, Finchem was not only in Washington for the January 6 "Stop the Steal" rally but also explained the insurrection at the US Capitol that followed the gathering as "what happens when the People feel they have been ignored, and Congress refuses to acknowledge rampant fraud." There have been allegations that Finchem was part of the mob that stormed the Capitol but he has denied them -- although he refuses to release his texts and other communications from that day."

More fringe than Trump on other issues also.

Ron DeSantis bashed for making Florida ‘only state’ not using federal child food aid program

    excerpt:

"Florida’s neediest families are missing out on about $820 million in child food assistance.

Florida Democrats are piling on Gov. Ron DeSantis with demands he reverse his “appalling” decision not to reenlist the state in a pandemic-era program to bring federal food aid to 2.1 million children from low-income homes.

Through his inaction, they said, DeSantis is blocking Florida’s neediest families from getting about $820 million in child food aid, which they could spend at local grocery stores and markets at a time when many families are suffering.

And according to these Democrats, he’s the sole holdout."

According to Woodward's sources, Trump was so frustrated at not being able to overturn the election via his pressure on Pence and his Capitol riot on January 6 that he wanted to pull all U.S. troops out of Afghanistan by January 15, 2021 before he left office, over seven months before Biden pulled them out.

Apparently, Trump was frustrated that he wouldn't have a second term to pull them out on his timeline and that Biden would pull them out later than he wanted.

But Trump didn't seem concerned about the risks to Americans and others that could be caused by pulling them that soon, three and a half months earlier than Trump's own agreement with the Taliban to remove them by May 1.

The Woodward book offers spooky insight into the final exchanges that happened during Trump's final days in office.

A passage in Woodward's book describes the chants of Trump protesters outside the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue a day before the riot that could be heard by Trump inside the White House. Amidst the chants, Trump's was trying to coerce Pence to overturn the election. Trump was caught up in the emotion and power of the situation, but Pence remained faithful to the Constitution.

It's like the Hollywood movies or third world countries where the angry crowd is chanting outside the government building and is ready to act as the coup to take over the government. With Trump it's even stranger, as the protesters didn't want to oust him but rather keep him in power under his direction.

How anyone in the GOP could look at those types of situations and downplay them as insignificant, be apologetic about them, or go so far as promoting or directing them seems unfathomable.

U.S. Representative Mo Brooks went as far as helping Trump incite the riot by speaking at the Ellipse shortly before the riot and later asked the U.S. Department of Justice to help defend him against lawsuits filed against him by claiming he was operating in his job capacity as a government official at Trump's rally.

Gallup polls show Trump below Carter by about 4% for average job approval rating throughout the entire presidency.

Trump is the lowest since such Gallup polls were conducted starting with the Truman administration.

I think one of the more telling points was that the Chinese thought trump was off the rails, and would attack them.

And of course trump said Miley should be tried for treason.

it’s interesting that trump says all of his enemies should be tried for treason. He forgot one name, his own.

Donald Duck's only frustration is in figuring out how to string together coherent sentences. The guy is NOT HOME, and has all the emotion of a clam shell. The mass media pumps him up with photos like this that suggest he's actually thinking, knowing damned well his audience is stupid enough to believe it. Yellow Journalism is anything but merely black and white, if you have a sense of humor.

The only thing these statistics tell you is that statistics are worthless, because the Tea Party has stolen our government. Thankfully, at least a few million people in the US government, are smarter than Donald Duck and the Tea Party combined.

Newsom’s Anti-Trump Recall Strategy Offers Republicans a Warning for 2022

    excerpt:

"California then was also a different state in a way that illustrates how politically polarized it has become. In 2000, Mr. Bush lost California by about 11 percentage points, while still carrying Republican redoubts like Orange and San Diego Counties. Last year, Mr. Trump was routed in the state by nearly 30 points and lost the same two counties decisively.

“There is no safe landing place today for moderates because, even if you’re mad at Gavin, the alternative is Ron DeSantis,” said Mr. Murphy, alluding to the Trumpian Florida governor."

Trump said in 2016 that he thought he could make California a red state.

Trump lost CA in 2016 by 30% to Clinton.

Trump's Chances in 14 States He Says He Can Win in November

    excerpt:

"Trump in San Jose, California, June 2, 2016: "I’m not even talking about landslides, but I think we can win the state of California and win it pretty substantially. Now, I’ve been told by all these geniuses, all these brilliant guys — they all say you can’t win the state of California. I think we can.”"
