    Trump's AZ audit hired anti-vaxxer.

Arizona GOP Hired Anti-Vaccine Vote Conspiracist 'Dr. Shiva' For Sham Election Audit | HuffPost

    excerpt:

"Newly released records relating to the Arizona GOP’s partisan audit of the 2020 election results reveal that an anti-vaccine election conspiracy theorist and failed U.S. Senate candidate known as “Dr. Shiva” was brought in on the operation.

The state’s Republican Senate and its ballot-recount contractor Cyber Ninjas separately hired Shiva Ayyadurai — or “Dr. Shiva” as he is known to his far-right fans — to help evaluate presidential ballots in Maricopa County, which backed Joe Biden, according to records released Aug. 31, The Arizona Republic and Vice reported.

Ayyadurai baselessly ranted back in November 2020 that the election was stolen from Donald Trump. He also accused National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci last year of being a “deep state” operative, has baselessly promoted vitamin C as a treatment for COVID-19, and says he invented email. Ayyadurai is not a medical doctor

Cyber Ninjas CEO and QAnon acolyte Doug Logan has similarly repeated the same election lie, and claimed that any Arizona audit would inevitably turn up “hundreds of thousands” of hidden votes for Trump.

The 2.1 million Maricopa County votes have been checked and rechecked by actual election officials in the
state, headed by GOP Gov. Doug Ducey, and were deemed completely legitimate."

AZ audit canvassers falsely claimed to be government officials.

Door knockers asking how people voted falsely claim to represent Arizona county

    excerpt:

"A group of individuals are going door-to-door in an Arizona county falsely claiming they represent local election officials and asking residents how they voted in the 2020 elections, according to a report from The Arizona Republic.

Speaking to the newspaper, Yavapai County Recorder Leslie Hoffman said she was concerned that there were people claiming to represent her office, and could be collecting information that results in identity theft.

Hoffman said she was unsure if these individuals were working on behalf of a political organization.

“I don’t want some of our more vulnerable residents giving information and thinking they’re giving it to the recorder’s office,” Hoffman told the Republic.

She said her office had received two reports of incidents in which residents were asked by unidentified individuals claiming to be elections officials about their 2020 vote. The two individuals reportedly refused to show identification when asked for verification that they were in fact from Hoffman's office."

How many murders were committed in the name of Charles Manson? How many murders have been committed in the name of Jesus Christ?
Note: I am not defending Manson.

True but Jesus didn't tell his disciples to go out and murder people while Manson did. I don't hold Jesus liable for the murders committed in his name in the past 2000 years by "Christian Soldiers". It's one thing to be evil like Manson, another when evil people pervert your message.

BTW I hope this doesn't turn into a long debate. Let's try to stay on the subject which is FORMER PRESIDENT Trump. Feels so good to say that.

The GOP has gone quiet about its own investigation of Trump's riot that it had promised to launch.

GOP’s Promised Jan. 6 Probe Has One Problem: No One Wants It

    excerpt:

"When he appeared before the press on July 21, the day that Speaker Nancy Pelosi booted two Republicans from a panel to investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy made a pledge.

“We will run our own investigation,” the California Republican said. “Why was the Capitol so ill-prepared for that day… and what have we done to make sure that never happens again?”

More than six weeks later, and well into the official Jan. 6 committee’s own work, there’s no sign that McCarthy and the House GOP will make good on that pledge. Several House Republican aides said they hadn’t seen any indication that such a probe is imminent. A McCarthy spokesperson didn’t answer repeated requests for comment.

For the vast majority of the GOP, those crickets sound good. Most Republicans would be happy to never talk about Jan. 6 again, and with the party increasingly focused on President Joe Biden’s handling of the end of the war in Afghanistan, some are baffled that McCarthy might lift any finger to remind the public of the low point of Donald Trump’s presidency."

With all the defensive power at his disposal, why did Trump do nothing for hours while his riot ensued?

GOP’s Promised Jan. 6 Probe Has One Problem: No One Wants It

    excerpt:

"There was a time, immediately after the attack, when even McCarthy admitted that Trump was to blame for the chaos and violence at the Capitol. “The President bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters,” McCarthy said that night. “He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding.”

Other House Republicans agreed too, if not publicly then privately. But as Jan. 6 recedes further into memory, even those Republicans who believe Trump is at fault feel the attack is now squarely a political cudgel for Democrats, and don’t see much of a point in dwelling on it."

Refugee organizations scramble to settle Afghans after years of Trump-era budget cuts

    excerpt:

"In 2020, the Trump administration slashed refugee admissions to a historically low ceiling, capping the number allowed in the country at 15,000 -- 3,000 people fewer than the prior fiscal year and roughly 55,000 fewer than the last cap set by former President Barack Obama. That also caused reductions in government funding of refugee organizations, which receive federal funding per refugee they help with resettlement. As a result of the lower cap, organizations received less funding because they were resettling fewer people, according to LIRS.

In response to smaller budgets and a lower demand for services, many organizations were forced to close offices and reduce staff."

Will McCarthy be doing this before or after he is questioned about his involvement in the insurrection on Jan 6th?

Americans have made an effort to prevent it from happening. They voted Trump out of office.

The act of voting Trump out of office, unfortunately, is what led to the situation where Trump couldn't accept the fact that he lost the election. He encouraged his followers to retaliate against Congress for certifying the results. But it kept Trump out of office for at least four years where he no longer has direct power and control.

Hold Trump accountable for inciting a riot at the Capitol and being derelict for hours as it ensued.

That means imposing a real threat of removing him from office for such behavior, as opposed to the passive, jackass approach of 'let the voters decide' (fortunately, they did decide in 2020).

Such accountability imposed by Congress ran Nixon out of office and stopped his shanigans.
