For all the hand wringing that the republicans are doing about Afghanistan, they forgot that it was trump who negotiated with the Taliban to remove US troops from the country. That agreement had been posted on the republican national committee’s website until it was conveniently removed in the last day.
    Fuck republicans.

Remember when Obama got out of Iraq according to the schedule that Bush setup?

Ever think the Republicans do this shit on purpose?

Trump decreased the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan to about 2500 before he left office.

Trump naively thought that the Taliban would behave themselves after U.S. troops exited because he told a Taliban leader (whose name he couldn't remember at a rally, so he used the name 'Mohammad') that he knew where he lived and would kill him if the Taliban acted up.

Trump should be pleased with the Taliban taking over Afghanistan. In Trump's way of thinking, it's a group of tourists and patriots who are rightfully taking back what was stolen from them.

Much the same as Trump not using his authority as command-in-chief of the DC National Guard to stop the Capitol insurrection he started, the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court recently ruled that Abbott is the commander-in-chief of the COVID disaster he helped create and that he has the power to prohibit localities from issuing mask mandates to treat the disaster.

Trump has many of the traits of the Taliban: bigotry, religious intolerance, misogyny, autocracy, authoritarianism, racism, arrogance.

Trump is the type who would be expected to say that he fell in love with the leader of the Taliban, like he did with the dictator of North Korea.

The titanic hubris of Lindsey Graham - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Sen. Lindsey Graham thinks pretty highly of himself.

So highly, in fact, that the following two paragraphs were written about him in a lengthy New York Times profile over the weekend:

“He alone can fix the former president, he believes, and make him a unifying figure for Republicans to take back both houses of Congress next year and beyond. To that end, he says, he is determined to steer Mr. Trump away from a dangerous obsession with 2020.

“‘What I say to him is, ‘Do you want January the 6th to be your political obituary?’ he said. ‘Because if you don’t get over it, it’s going to be.’”

Lindsey Graham thinks he can “fix” Donald Trump, turning the former president from a narcissistic obsessive about nonexistent fraud in the 2020 election into a powerful force for good within the Republican Party."

33-year-old man arrested in Burbank on charges stemming from Jan. 6 Capitol riot

    excerpt:

"BURBANK, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was arrested in Burbank on charges related to the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol following a tip from a paid FBI informant, according to new court papers.

Michael Aaron Carico, 33, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with four federal counts, including disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, according to a criminal complaint filed last week in federal court in the District of Columbia.

According to the complaint, the informant who was among the mob that swarmed the Capitol on Jan. 6 told authorities that Carico identified himself to others and said he had been inside the Capitol. When asked how he could be found on social media, Carico gave his full name, court documents allege."

Actor suspected of taking part in Capitol riot arrested in Burbank – Daily News

    excerpt:

"An FBI informant was outside the Capitol building and among a crowd of people contesting the election of President Joe Biden as Carico was telling them he had just been inside, according to a federal agent’s sworn statement. A woman in the group asked for his Facebook account, and he replied “michaelaaroncarico.”

Investigators examined several videos showing Carico in the Capitol, according to court documents. They viewed his Instagram account and saw him in previous posts with what appeared to be the same camera, camo shirt and hat seen in footage of the Jan. 6 riot.

Federal agents obtained a warrant for data from a mobile device associated with Carico’s Google account, according to court documents. GPS tracking information placed him on Capitol grounds between 2:18 p.m. and 3:55 p.m. on Jan. 6."

Former Rep. Paul Mitchell, who left GOP over Trump, dies at 64

    excerpt:

"“When he remained the lone voice and ignored the threats from those claiming to be his friends," she continued. "Paul stood up for what matters most. It had nothing to do with political ideology and everything to do with keeping our humanity. For everyone."

The one-time member of House Republican leadership and former businessperson was known as a colorful and gregarious figure in Congress, though his former colleagues distanced themselves from him over his renouncement and increased criticisms of the GOP efforts to sow doubt about Joe Biden's presidential win.

Those same remarks, however, won him praise from the other wing of the the party, which has condemned Trump as a danger to the Republican party."
