Currently I’m awaiting surgery to put a titanium cage that’ll go from L3 to S1. It’s going to be a anterior and posterior approach. The popular belief is that I broke the growth plate in my S1 vertebrae and my iliac crest as a juvenile and never realized it. That destabilized my lumbar spine, causing accelerated wear on discs and bone loss in the vertebrae. There isn’t enough bone to shoot screws into, that’s why they’ll 3D print a titanium cage.

I blew out a disk and it eventually collapsed on to my L5-S1 disk cutting into my spinal cord.
I had bone removed and cut away to free it but the damage was done.
Pain is permanent but I'm lucky in some ways I can still do most things and you can't tell from the outside.
I hadn't enjoyed sex at all for the last few years, couldn't feel much to enjoy it but I do like the thrill of pleasing my husband.

After my lumbar back surgery and I get the rotator cuffs in both shoulders fixed, I should get my cyborg merit badge! Lol

I had T1,2,and 3 fused in Jan 2020 . That’s where my cord compression was. It was caused by slipped discs, bone spurs, and arthritis.

I'm just hoping I can avoid a cage for as long as possible, I really don't want to have to do that pain again... Ever...

Mine started with a slipped disk and jumped a few steps and collapsed 18 months later. Nuro Dr couldn't tell me what my recovery would be like as she hadn't seen it in someone as young I was.
I have another 3 slipped but not as badly and they don't compare to the nerve pain so they don't bother often.

My thoracic cord compression didn’t cause me any pain. In fact it numbed most of my lower back pain. They were concerned about my autonomic system because of where the cord was compressed.
It’s fully healed and there’s still some desensitization left, mostly in my abs.

    Shit that's scary as hell.

The back on my left leg up my butt cheek and around are all numb and my left foot is all over the place depending on the day. Couldn't have a natural birth as they had no way of knowing if the nerves would or could do there job properly.
I had the nerves burnt to help with the pain but there isn't anything much they can do other the pain management now.

I’m not looking forward to my next back surgery. I’m hung up on either taking my intestines out and plopping them on the table next to me or pushing them aside and working. Lol this from a man that’s already an erector set. I have plates, screws, and a rod in my legs. I’ve got cadaver bits and pieces too.

My pain management is Gabapentin, Advil, and Tylenol. Sometimes I use RSO if it’s bad and I must sleep.

That doesn't sound like a good time at all.
Sounds like a ruff run of bad events happening.

Mine is a mixture of nortriptyline and Tapentadol SR and IR for when it's out of control and if that fails it's a trip to the hospital for a day on morphine

It’s not scary at all. I never expected to live this long and I already died once. I drowned in April 1982, when I was 7. My uncle resuscitated me. I came back fearless, that’s about when my thrill seeking started.
My cord compression also renewed my trust in people. Prior to my current wife, I was married for 20 years to a woman who was a narcissist. That left me with trust issues. The reason it renewed my faith in people, particularly my now wife. We were dating and I decided to give her medical power of attorney over me. I filled the paperwork out, answering all the situations where they shouldn’t resuscitate me or unplug me from life support. She was balling her eyes out. She kept saying that she’d take me no matter what. She just wanted me alive. That’s when I knew she was the ONE.

    Dang!!!
I’m thankful that I have a high pain tolerance. All too often I don’t notice that I’ve been injured until someone else points it out.

My compression had the opposite effect, I became an introvert. I was so scared of living that way for the rest of my life that I couldn't bare to even go to the pub past a certain time. It took years for me to get back some sort of life that I once had.
Now I will fight it and smile even when every part of me is screaming for me to stop.. my babies were my reason to recover and get back to living.
Sounds like you have one amazing women at your side now.

I have been told by more Dr then I would like to admit that my pain tolerance is something else.
I'm terrible sick but an injury generally doesn't bother as much as other people.

I’m the twisted guy that will perform minor surgeries on myself. I’ve given myself stitches more times than I should admit. When I was 18 I finished a Moto X race with a broken femur. If I get really angry I don’t feel anything at all.

Since Nov of 2019 I’ve had a lifting weight restriction of 10lbs or 4.5 KG. I disregard that 100 times a day. Sometimes I’m stupid and will lift 100+ KG. I also still ride horses, quads, dirt bikes, race demo derby, and take out our off-road trucks and frequently jump them. I won’t stop doing what I love, even if it puts me in the grave.
Fortunately for me, rough sex is comparable to physical therapy. I also use an inversion table, which helps a ton.
