A new study suggests Trump's 2016 victory may have been a 'historical inevitability' Tim O'Donnell, Contributing Writer Sat, May 29, 2021, 12:37 PM A new study suggests Trump's 2016 victory may have been a 'historical inevitability' excerpt: "A new study combining historical data on demography and ideology in 21 Western democracies implies that the rise of right-wing populists like former President Donald Trump and events like Brexit "were not an abrupt departure from precedent, but rather the consequence of a 60-year-old international trend," The Economist writes. In other words, the paper, co-authored by Thomas Piketty, Amory Gethin, and Clara Martinez-Toledano, makes Trump's 2016 election victory "look like a historical inevitability." The main finding of the paper — which like any academic study has its critics — is that "income and education began diverging as predictors of ideology" decades ago. Back in 1955, for example, "both the richest and the most educated voters tended to support conservative parties," while "poorer and less-educated people mostly chose labor or social-democratic" parties. But over time, and with "striking" consistency, the most highly-educated voters moved toward the left-wing parties, while those with less schooling "slid the other way." The wealthiest voters maintained their support of conservative parties, giving the right a "coalition" of the rich and those with less education, paving the way for politics as you know them today. The shift appears to be global, Michigan State University's Matt Grossman noted on Twitter, but the United States "stands out as moving from almost no left/right division on education and a large division on income in 1970 to a large division on education and almost no division on income by 2010." image:
Trump appears to have been on a correct path in 2016 for increasing his support by appealing to the less educated while at the same time embracing the higher income groups. He had trouble in the 2020 election when he lost support from the moderate income and moderately educated groups at the expense of being preoccupied with a fear of losing his less educated, lower income base.
There are over 8 billion people in this world, and shit is happening all the time, but for the price of a stupid ticket and a cardboard sign, this guy gets on national television. You can't buy advertising that cheap, and Donald Duck wins again.
No less than 40 years of extensive studies, concluded the republican party organizes like a flock of chickens, and this fucking idiot is only now catching on.
I want to hear that Trump would be the one to go to jail, not just everyone else around him. LOCK HIM UP!!!
Rep. Matt Gaetz eyes presidential run in 2024 excerpt: "Gaetz made that disclosure Wednesday in a text message to the New York Post. “I support Donald Trump for president. I’ve directly encouraged him to run and he gives me every indication he will,” Gaetz told the paper. “If Trump doesn’t run, I’m sure I could defeat whatever remains of Joe Biden by 2024.”"
Some of the politicians in Texas used the Trump twisted approach and tried to blame the power outages and deaths on wind power. Texas’s Winter Storm Killed Hundreds More Than Reported excerpt: "The true number of people killed by the disastrous winter storm and power outages that devastated Texas in February is likely four or five times what the state has acknowledged so far. A BuzzFeed News data analysis reveals the hidden scale of a catastrophe that trapped millions of people in freezing darkness, cut off access to running water, and overwhelmed emergency services for days. The state’s tally currently stands at 151 deaths. But by looking at how many more people died during and immediately after the storm than would have been expected — an established method that has been used to count the full toll of other disasters — we estimate that 700 people were killed by the storm during the week with the worst power outages. This astonishing toll exposes the full consequence of officials’ neglect in preventing the power grid’s collapse despite repeated warnings of its vulnerability to cold weather, as well as the state’s failure to reckon with the magnitude of the crisis that followed. Many of the uncounted victims of the storm and power outages were already medically vulnerable — with chronic conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and kidney problems. But without the intense cold and stress they experienced during the crisis, many of these people could still be alive today. This was the case for 80-year-old Julius Gonzales, his family believes. As dawn broke on February 15, he made his way to one of his regular dialysis appointments, only to find that the clinic had lost power and was closed. So the retired maintenance worker turned his Dodge Ram around and headed back to the mobile home he’d shared with his wife, Mary, in the small town of Arcola, Texas, for nearly 20 years. So began the last 24 hours of his life."
There must be some drain of voters who are just plumb tired of this Republican horse shit. Remember, they used to tell us they were the conservatives who would not support a fraudster or some schmuck who pays for sex.
Its war baby, and there are no rules in war. For Donald Duck to actually go to jail, would be an admission that our entire political process is fucked, and we only have one political party, generously paid for by donations from Wall Street. Democrats cannot argue that the republican party represents democracy, when their members all demand a dictator. If the democrats start throwing republicans in jail, they'll lose all funding, and Texas may secede from the union.
Texas is similar to West Virginia and, politically, it is the third world in America. Like many third world countries, its largely desert filled with rednecks, surrounding the cities, who will definitely believe solar power is the work of the devil, as in, whoever supports the government. Hide the silverware and stil Ma, the revenuers are comin'!
Well he has declared himself a Trump Republican, so he should have a lock on the shit-for-brains vote!
