As expected the January 6th Commission Bill was killed in the Senate. The vote to advance the bill failed by 54 to 35, well short of the 60 votes needed.

Apparently the Repubs are afraid that any debate over the insurrection will make them look bad so they'll get badly beaten in 2022. Seems to me that would hurt them only if they still embrace Trump, and if they keep hiding from the truth, that will hurt them even more. They need to listen to Paul Ryan, among others.

This just proves that our U.S. justice system is corrupt and it favors "certain" people. The U.S will fall just like soooo many other "empires" and "civilizations" ....................... from ROT and CORRUPTION from within. No country can stand for long when enough people realize they are just fodder for the rich and corrupt. Sooner or later, civil war breaks out or a violent coup ends up killing the main culprits. Why do you suppose so many ULTRA-RICH folks bought lots of land in New Zealand and built secretly hidden, heavily-fortified underground bunkers supplied with every comfort needed to exist for years???? New Zealand actually STOPPED the purchase of land by outsiders because so many ULTRA-RICH, outside people were basically buying up the whole country. The ULTRA-RICH see and KNOW what's coming, so they need a place to hide and escape the coming revolutions that will happen worldwide - not just in the U.S.

The Party of Law and Order has become the Party of Protection for criminals. One of the traditional methods which Mafiosos enriched themselves was to provide protection for local businessmen and others in their dominion. The Mafiosos even got protection from crooked persons in local government, including law enforcement. Now we have a political force which has employed the same tactics on a national scale. The Top Criminals in The Republican Party can commit crimes and get pardoned. And the lower criminals provide protection for the top criminals during elections, and recounts. It's so wide spread now that their protection racket has scuttled Congressional Inquiry into a very serious crime.

 

That’s the way Trump sees it. He still has his base supporters, idiots like MTG and Gaetz continuing to spout brainless rhetoric, and has the yellow-spined cowardice GOP by their nuts. He feels victorious for sure.

I lived in the DC area for years. After you've watched a few sons of diplomats race down the highway at 100mph, commit armed robbery or whatever, and only get kicked out of the country for actually killing someone, you comprehend the value of life in the fast lane. Donald Duck is still a free man, because the fast lane is killing the whole damned planet.

 

Rep. Andrew Clyde is seen near the center of the photo below helping to place a large piece of furniture against a door of the House chamber to protect himself from Trump's rioters whom he would later refer to as ordinary tourists.

Moments later, a gunshot rang out that killed Ashli Babbitt at the Speaker's Lobby not far away from the door that Clyde had barricaded.

The shot was clearly heard in the House chamber and caused a startled congressman to blurt out, "The fuck?"
