i would always rather speak of what i believe in the goodness of, which is strangeness, then of what i don't, which is the desire to be feared.

It was a play-off on the Flash Gordon comic books of the forties and fifties. I think Superman comics started in 1939. I'm not sure but Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon came later. All the others like Bat Man, Hulk, and Spiderman started after them. Growing up in the fifties and sixties was great. We had the space age looking missile bikes and used to put cards in the spokes to make them sound tough.

well i wasn't refering to what you were talking about, but that's ok. also just now i was going to link barlow's guide, but it seems to have been censored, or more likely pulled if it was posted without copyright owner's permission which i'm guessing was the more likely. also why would everything have to be about sex? which would be mostly harmless considering unlikely to be fertile, but how about just friends sharring common interests? every world has its own versions of mind altering substances too. and entertainment, education, places to kick back and enjoy, et.c, et.c, et.c, ...

I definitely believe in aliens.
I would so much prefer a family of refugees or Latinos of sketchy documentation as neighbors than a belligerent tribe of gun-totin', God-fearin', meth-smokin', QAnon-believin', red-white-and-blue MAGA cultists.

what i'm bothered by is the anti-imagination of the idea that everything that is "other" has to be the same "other", and that it has to be some how dangerous or scarry.
sure some things will always be scarry, like those damd mega-nuts. now those ARE scarry. but nothing else HAS to be.

why would someone evolved on another world have to have two genders? that might seem the most simple for higher life forms, but even on our own world several alternatives can be found.
why would they have to be anything assumed about them? why are humans so stubornly ignorantly against asking the next question?

why does anyone ever assume all that they know is all that can ever be?
its not being unknown prevents the existence of anything, its when all that is 'known' is fantasy, your own is as good as anyone else's.
and mine just happens to be the goodness of strangeness and not of anything, human or otherwise, wishing to be feared.

"other" is not ONE other kind of thing. it is billions of other other kinds of other, each other from every other of them.
what makes anyone assume familiarity to be a standard of attractiveness?

if you look at the work of furry artists you can find hundreds if not thousands of imaginary life forms more attractive then anything human can ever be.
many do have improbably too human looking bodies. but that comes from the same problem we're seeing here.

the truly alien need not be anything we can currently imagine, and what is wrong with that?
i know in the wild, most species avoid contact with others except under particular circumstances,
but when i see what is going on here, i have to wonder, is our vaunted so called sapience, that far removed?

and would anyone from a world, who's species had achieved what we fantasize our own sapience to be,
ever be able to entirely trust US until we do?

i guess my point, is that our place in the universe, is not the reason for everything else to exist.
that the collective ego of our species, is no less ignorant then that of one nation, one city or even one individual person.

 

You covered a lot here. I am just going to address one important issue which you have raised: How would life develop on another world? Would it develop in a similar or same way as ours? I don't have the answers but will say that a GOD living thing would be characterized as perpetual or infinite, meaning never born and never dies. That is the way we understand THE CONCEPT OF GOD here on Earth. So, life which is NONE GOD on another world would have the process of BIRTH, DEATH, and RE-BIRTH for a life cycle, so maybe similar to us, maybe not so similar. That's a big universe out there. Other sorts of life is out there and I'm convinced.

I believe that people from other planets could come here. If this report by the military is true, then they do come here. And since they do come here from a far away place, they have some advance vehicles and technology to go with it. So they would be smart enough to manufacture such space ships, and navigational equipment in it. That says they must have fingers to work the toggle switches, and push the buttons, and hold on to the steering wheel. They would have eyes to see where they are going, and land sometimes too? So, if my hunch is true; then they would not show up on my planet naked. All the tales about the Grays or the Greys must be total BS, and the abduction reports too. If the aliens do show up, they would have the latest fashions in intergalactic uniforms. Their outfits would make a royal navy admiral envious. I very much doubt that they would step out of the saucer craft in the buff.

 

Whatever they are, they're real, and Navy Pilots encounter them on a regular basis
